Martin - 7 - Dealt with everything he had to deal with. Competent display from the lad. Only fault was the throw for Mattock's booking.

Hobbs - 5 - Got dominated aerially by a guy no bigger than himself. Looked very uncomfortable out of position.

Tunchev - 7 - Very rarely looked troubled.

Kisnorbo - 6 - Looked trouble at times by there big man, by always there to sort out the issues in the end. Decent return for Kisnorbo.

Mattock - 7 - Got forward well at times, complemented the attack well, shame he wasn't match fit.

Gradel - 6 - Didn't see enough of the ball compared to the amount of space he sat in. Tried to do too much at times.

Oakley - 5 - Was there a midfield today? When he played the ball short and simple, looked more than competent for this level, didn't do anything constructive for 70 minutes of the game.

King - 4 - Absolutely terrible, went missing for nearly the entire game. Tried a ridiculous shot from 25 yards. On that performance, not good enough for a starting berth week in week out.

Dyer - 6 - Tried hard, right decisions yet poor execution at times. At least he tried to do things. Should have scored.

Fryatt - 6 - Didn't think he played too bad. Too many touches at times. Dreadful miss though.

Howard - 6 - Again, wasn't a bad day for him, but he will never look affective with the poor service we gave him today.

Subs

Berner - 6 - Looks like he will be a capable back up, nothing special to note.

Hayles - 5 - Didnt make any impact at all.

Pearson - 5 - Wasn't convinced by the Hayles for Howard sub, would have liked to see an extra man up top to push for the win. Needed to freshen up the midfield for me at some point, but he obviously didn't fancy Adams in the middle of the park.

Martin 4: Learn to kick a sodding ball

Hobbs 5: Not a right-back

Mattock 5: Impetuous and idiotic

Kisnorbo 5: Distribution was of 4th Division order

Tunch 7: Calm and controlled, a class apart in defense

Gradel 5: A score lifted by his final 15 minutes of involvement, still far too lightweight. One nice turn (2 seconds in 90 mins) still does not allow him to access my wife's vagina

Dyer 7: A consistent threat and an impressive display considering the paucity of support

Oakley 6: Did a solid job

King 5: Ridiculous display, the child needs to get a grip

Fryatt 3: Selfish runs, no awareness and attrocious composure in front of goal - by far his worst performance of the season and, I'd say, last season too.

Howard 6: Nothing going for him apart from shocking punts up field and yet he strove to control and lay off decent balls for others to crap up.

Berner 5: Ran to support Dyer but failed to do anything to inspire confidence or awe

Hayles 5: Daft substitution - what on Earth is he doing on the bench? I love the guy...but...

Mattock to the Premiership???

Hmm - Pigs will fly

All he needs is pace, skill, defensive qualities, ability to go past people, crossing technique, etc

He still has time, but not sure it will happen for him - can do a job at this level though - lol

When he proves that it might be worth considering his Premiership ambitions.

Didn't do it yesterday.

At the moment, he's the 3rd best left-back at the club.

He should watch videos of Powell and Berner to work out what he needs to do.

So tell me what you saw in Berner today. I'm intrigued. Cos I reckon he's another continental who's got a few decent marks cos he's a new signing rather than anything he did yesterday apart from the probably luckily blocked cross which saved us from defeat. The only other things I remember are his being dispossessed after trying to run with the ball and being tackled in possession a few minutes later.

Well he's two footed, can tackle, can pass the ball, looks determined, not shy of a bit of physical, he linked up well with Dyer overlapping on several occasions and put in a beautiful cross with his right foot, he got to the goal line twice to put crosses in, yes he was dispossessed but he was going forward at the time and as usual everyone stood and watched him rather than making themselves available.

Frankly he seemed to do more in his cameo than Mattock did and revitalised Dyer.

He got stuck in? One of few that looked committed - King and Oakley could definitely take note, they are pathetic as a central midfield pairing.

Martin - collects well from crosses, still young and nervous but could become a decent keeper. Looks to distribute to the wings quickly, which can be an asset (if our playes were a bit more switched on).

Hobbs - did OK considering it is not his natural position.

Tunchev - fantastic I though, best I have seen him play. Won all the headers, showed strength but uses his arms a bit too much and may get penalised for it one day.

Kisnorbo - steady, nice to see him back.

Mattock - more energy than Powell but woeful distribution.

Gradel - easily frustrated and ends up flying into tackles that could get him into trouble. Slightly starved of the ball and always heavily marked when he got it, he will need to learn to deal with that.

King - abysmal. Offers nothing when the defence have the ball (countless times you can see him and Oakley jog upfield instead of collecting the ball from a centre half). Toothless in the tackle and has neve shown any great range of passes in his locker other than tapping it back. Waste of space.

Oakley - see King, even more frustrating as he is an experienced player and team captain. No guts, no heart, cannot control the midfield.

Dyer - marked out of it a lot of the time, but also perhaps didn't get enough of the ball from team mates. Having said that, when he missed that one-on-one...

Fryatt - talking of one-on-ones... That will be a massive blow to the confidence he had been building up on early season form. Needs support from the team and crowd.

Howard - as for Fryatt, needs support from the fans. He is a big man and his style is about winning headers, which he generally did.

Not to me it doesn't. Berner 6. Boy that takes some imagination! And Hayles 5. Did he touch the ball in his few minutes?

What Davie said, if Berner had been on from the start I'd have probably given him a 7.

On the basis of that and of DavieG's comments I've chastised myself for not noticing those things and have revised his mark (by two points!) to give him the benefit of my doubts. I trust though that he'll stop getting caught in possession. It's the cardinal sin for a defender.

If he turns out all you two say he was then Mattock has some serious competition cos, once again, I was underwhelmed by the lad although he will obviously time to recover his match sharpness.

Martin 4 Ok so it was windy but he never called, never dominated the 6 yard area &1 awful throw out to Mattock resulted in a booking and then he repeated the same thing to Dyer. I really can't see that he is any better than Henderson and I really can't believe he will ever seriously make it at Liverpool. Our central defenders had enough to cope with without not being able to trust their keeper.

Mattock 5 sell him if the money is right. We need reinforcements elsewhere and he is average at best. A very average performance. Sensibly subbed before he got himself sent off.

Tunchev 7 Some heading was weak but generally coped well with their strikers including their top scorer and some good defensive headers and touches back to the keeper.

Kisnorbo 7 Thought he did well. Some of his usual distribution but not as much as last season.

Hobbs 4 Poor performance and clearly not a right back. Surely not good enough for Liverpool?

Dyer 5 Crossing was poor and a one on one with the keeper with which he should have done better.

Oakley 4 What exactly is the point of this guy? Slightly better than Tuesday but has proved to me he is just a very average journeyman pro with no real quality.I really can't think of one telling contribution throughout the whole 90 minutes. His careless header in stoppage time nearly led to a goal for them.

King 5 Slightly better than Oakley but again looks lightweight and really does not produce enough telling passes.

Gradel 4 Another dismal performance. He produced 1 cross that beat the first defender in the entire first half. His set pieces were average at best. Second half he was slightly better and tough he has pace is end product is way below good enough.

Fryatt 3 Confidence looks to be ebbng away fast and you just knew he was going to miss that chance. Again failed on several occasions to "see" a pass to abetter placed player a fault he has always had and doesn't look like ever losing. No good in the air and his lack of pace is a serous disadvantage.

Howard 5 Slow and cumbersome. He really doesn't look like he has got what it takes most of the time. Some good link up play but he's there to score goals as well and never looked like he would.

Berner 6 Thought he did quite well. Some positive runs and a couple of decent crosses. Also 1 very good calm piece of defending in stopage time probably saved us from defeat.

Hayles 5 Huffed and puffed but shows how much we need Dickov.

Martin 6 Needs to be more commanding but didn't concede

Hobbs 5.5 Out of position and it showed

Kisnorbo 7 He's learnt to pass :sweating:

Tunchev 7.5 Didn't seem to do an awful lot wrong

Mattock 5 I still don't understand what the fuss is about  . Sell!

Gradel 5.5 Too predictable

Oakley 4 Made one good pass, and fook all else

King 4 Equally as ineffective as his partner

Dyer 6.5 Should have buried that chance, but always looks like he'll make something happen

Fryatt 4.5 Crap

Howard 5.5 Unfairly abused as usual

Berner 6 Clearly still not match fit, but a better option than Mattock imo

Hayles 5.5 Bazza looked up for it when he came on, a cuople of nice passes too

hobbs looked aweful. clumsy, made loads of mistakes, gave the ball away and pretty slow for a 20 year old. His dream is to play for liverpool, well he can go back because kisnorbo, tunchev are streets ahead and in my opinion he's no better better then Morrison.

King was a mess yesterday. Worst player on the pitch. Could not pass, had no touch and did not tackle.

Fryatt was not great but some of the 3's I would say are a touch harsh.

One day we'll agree on something. I won't lose heart :D

Worst player?

a) Only one to put a shot in the net that would have been a goal but for Howard's offside..

b) Pass of the game to Fryatt who should have scored.

c) Timely touch to prevent a close range shot that might well have been a goal.

d) Plenty of supplementary work in other places.

If the bloke wore a Fryatt mask there's some would have given him 7.
