TheUltimateWinner Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Weale Naughton Bamba Mee Van Aanholt Oakley Wellens King Gallagher Yakubu Dyer
Wymsey Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Same team but not Oakley, Abe does a better job in midfield and also goes up more.
leicesterisme Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 I think Sven will keep the same side. He may take out Vassell for Galllagher as Vassell didn't have the best of games last night.
h.nutt26 Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Weale Naughton Bamba Mee Van Aanholt Abe Wellens King Gallagher Dyer Yakubu Thats the team I think will play although I would like to see Bruno at left back. Sven loves Vassell and so I fear Dyer may be left out which would be a real shame as Dyer is immense.
darko2k7 Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Same team for me as we carn not really take to much from last night in an attacking sense because the pitch was so bad, therefore as soon as they play on the beautiful walkers grass it will be a totally different game . EDIT; On second thoughts maybe Gally in for Dyer OR Vassell hard to pick which . Good problem to have
Haydos Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 PVA to keep his place, reckon he'll be much more suited to playing at home when we have some impetus. Gally in for Vassell.....possibly. Or Dyer. Haven't made my mind up yet.
ScouseFox Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Expecting to see Gallagher come back in, whether it's for Lloyd or Vassell I'm not sure. No changes apart from that.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Maybe Gally in for Dyer/Vassell but we need to keep consistent especially at the back.
RizLCFC Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Same team but not Oakley, Abe does a better job in midfield and also goes up more. Agree! Svens just going to have to dip between Darrius and Lloyd.

We are at home and we need a win, play all three... So: - Weale Naughton--Bamba--Mee--van AanholtWellens--KingVassell--Gallagher--DyerYakubu Allow the middle three to be flexible, Vassell to support the Yak, Dyer to attack on either flank and Gallagher as playmaker.
cc_star Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Weale (hopefully) Naughton - Bamba - Mee - Van Aanholt Abe - Wellens - King Gallagher - Yakubu - Dyer Subs: Ricardo, Vassell, Waghorn, Hobbs, Berner, Oakley & Howard I think we conceded far too much possession playing Vasell & Yakubu & Dyer, Gally is well worth a 1st team recall as he's capable of putting his foot on the ball & retaining possession. If Yakubu is as ineffective as he was on Tuesday night I'd like to Sven making his substitutions earlier the fact the Yak failed to pressure their defenders meant we invited far more attacks than we otherwise might have. It's a real key game, Barnsley are only 2 points behind us and we really must keep the winning run going if we're serious about being contenders. A win against Barnsley & then Bristol City will mean a draw at Pride Park will be a satisfactory result. We really need to get amongst the top 6 before we can afford a defeat.

Said it before and I still think gallagher provides great balance to the team alongside 2 other pacey players. With Dyer, Yak and Vassell playing you don't really have much variety when pushing forward. I'd love to see the team you've posted and i've wanted it in the past. I just don't think Sven (or a lot of managers) is that bold to switch systems in the middle of the season. This sees Kingy as our main deep midfielder instead of Abe and that's a big responsibility for him, especially as he can struggle against a physical midfield and wasn't great at getting to the second ball last night. If we are prepared to throw everything at it then this could work but we need to be on top form. It drops Wellens a touch deeper and utilised Gally in the role Wellens seems to be playing at the moment. This would give us more creativity in the middle but comes at the cost of the defensive stability that Abe provides. Would love to see it tried out, don't think it's gonna happen for this season at least.

Sven has mentioned on a number of occasions that he sees Gallagher playing in midfield at some point, his play is much improved, particularly in terms of defensive effort and all round application. If this is to be tried, then one of Abe, Wellens or King has to miss out, tough choice but going on last nights performance that would be Abe for me. King played the deep role most of the time under Pearson and personally i think it is his best role, not that combative in midfield but an excellent defender in and around the edges of our own box. Gallagher is more creative than Wellens and provides a genuinely goal threat from the edge of the box, Wellens and King can support from deeper positions and do the bulk of the defensive work. Dyer can attack from either flank and Vassell needs to get closer to Yakubu. I accept that is not ideal but then neither is the regular Abe - Wellens - King combination, we look devoid of ideas without Gallagher so I think he needs to play and I would love to see him in a more central role. Otherwise it is 'same again' with Dyer to drop out although it should be Vassell/

Same as this team but Vassell in for Gallagher IMO
Dylan Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Weale Naughton Mee Bamba van Aanholt Abe Wellens King Dyer Yakubu Vassell/Gally Subs: Ricardo, Hobbs, Berner, Oakley, Howard, Waghorn, Vassell/Gally. Back five can't really be changed after a solid clean sheet, holding out for 86 minutes of pressure. Our midfield 3 is solid- and again pretty unchangeable atm. Just the front 3 that may be tinkered a bit. I would obviously start Yak as my middle man. I would also start Dyer- can see him troubling Barnsley imo. In the last spot I would either start Vassell or Gally. I am probably more in favour of Vassell- why change a winning team? Although I wouldn't mind seeing Gallagher come back on Saturday: in the few matches before his injury I thought he was gradually improving, and his set-pieces are decent. He can also pick out a decent crossfield ball.
cc_star Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Feckin' hell it's still Thursday *taps fingers impatiently* C'MON LEICESTER

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Really do wish we'd have signed a midfielder that can play down the middle in the window. Oakley might have put a decent shift in on Tuesday night, but we still look painfully short of quality alternatives should one of the regular trio get injured.

Or suspended, agreed supose Moussa could be given a chance though, like the look of him. Cant believe it is only Thursday, cant wait until Saturday!
Wymsey Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 I hope Sven gives Moussa a run out (if we're winning comfortably) as i thought he's alright and he would give more pace to the game.
Guest ttfn Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 If Barnsley win they go above us. This isn't going to be easy. Unchanged team for me.
