  3. Ahhhh the English summer - beer gardens, Wimbledon, and community tensions after a brutal stabbing
  4. The roles don't even need to be reversed, people who want to find racism will find racism. Half the discourse around Southport was that it's racist to call a Rwandan Rwandan.
  5. I was going to say. Haven't read much about the case outside of the main BBC report and I'm not going to watch the video so maybe I'm missing something, but even if he had attacked the other guy how the **** did they neglect to help him in that moment?

  9. La Belle Hortense is one of my favourite bars, the bistro opposite also very good. One of those places you just keep ordering more courses and wine. In Le Marais. Perraudin also a pretty good option for a restaurant that is relatively popular with tourists but still retains a quite authentic Parisian feel and has some very nice food. The museums are obviously well known but Musee D'Orsay is incredible obviously. Sainte Chapelle is amazing but gets so busy. Would love to go in there one morning before it opens. We usually stay in the 5th arrondissement which has some nice cafes, bars and restaurants away from the very touristy part of the Latin Quarter. It's a great city.
  10. Was very different pre wall to wall media coverage. You weren't as tired of non stop football as you are now and a World Cup was a chance to see players you could rarely see. It was like watching a total different sport from English football in the early 90s.
  11. can't believe how badly we have ****ed it all up. Perhaps worse than anyone ever.

  13. I'm glad you wrote 'extreme' example because comparing a guy that forgot 2 dogs in the car to someone who butchered 3 people is pretty mad

  18. I have infinite respect for him going to somewhere like Cremonese. He's a smart guy and he would've known what he was getting himself in for. He won't get credit in the press for it of course but it speaks volumes about him as a player.
  19. those legal expenses don't pay for themselves
  20. And two absolutely belting penalties
  21. Some irony in Brexiter's frustration at people blaming everything especially immigration on Brexiting when they spent years blaming everything especially immigration on not Brexiting.
  22. Nothing much to add, other than good to see some love for Lennon in the thread.Even if I were a foaming at the mouth unionist I still couldn't hate him just because he was so good for us. Was a brilliant day, and is as fond a memory as our trophy wins of recent years. Maybe even more so, just because of how different the club, football and football fandom was then.
  23. It wasn't an inevitable result of leaving the EU but that doesn't change the fact that prominent leavers suggested on a few occasions that restrictions on non EU migrants, especially from the Commonwealth, should be relaxed, and obviously those places have larger, younger and poorer populations than Europe. In fact if I may go a bit tin foil hat here, I don't think it's a terrible stretch to conclude that a lot of brexit's financial backers were partially motivated by a desire to replace Europeans with rights under EU law with non Europeans who could be exploited more. So no, it's not strictly cause-effect, more a not very surprising side effect.
  24. May probably wouldn't have done. The hostile environment architect no? But hard brexiters got rid of her for Boris ๐Ÿ˜‚ Patel and Badenoch iirc also advocated for relaxing on immigration restrictions from India and Nigeria.
