Good reference. Lost their first three games then went on an incredible run to I think 2nd in the table, before falling away after Christmas. It was their last good season really, who knows how history could've been different for them if they'd won a cup and qualified for Europe.

The interior of Istria is rather beautiful in parts and culturally quite interesting. You should find a little konoba in the countryside near Motovun and get some typical food. I travelled by train between Ljubljana and Zagreb once and it looked really beautiful. May time will be perfect I'm sure. In Slovenia you might want to go to Hrastovljie which has an interesting history and beautiful church paintings. That might actually be easier to get to from Pula than Ljubljana. I love Trieste too. Not sure how far that would be but in a car probably like 90 mins - 2 hrs drive.
