We’ve produced some really good players over the past 10 years, possibly in the top 6 most productive academies, certainly in the top 10. I just can fathom the best loan opportunities we get are in Scotland and relegation threatened L1 and L2 teams. Logan Briggs is obviously in the running for PL2 POTS, I’m certain League 1 clubs would have been interested but you hear murmurs about the club turning loans down all the time.

I think any significant fees are unrealistic but we are a huge draw and even an extra 2k p/w for some of these players would be a huge salary increase. Without sales first it’s just hard to know what our budgets will be like. Say Ballard for £4m probably isn’t unrealistic if we can offer him £12k per week - we’re probably still a more attractive proposition than Preston
