He had Vardy and Mahrez in their primes. With two demonstrably world class footballers the best he could muster up was a 9th placed finish behind Burnley and the Jagielka, Rooney, Ashley Williams era Everton. He personally vouched for Ghezzal for £12m despite everybody knowing that wouldn't work out. Then the style of play was so laboured and dithering that we always went behind first and only looked like scoring after abandoning our initial approach. A Schmeichel, Fuchs/Chilwell, Maguire, Morgan, Ndidi, Mahrez, Vardy, Iheanacho team should have finished 7th.

Didn't help there was a motorbike cavalcade of (50-100?) pro-Palestine protestors balaclava'd up blocking traffic and pavements circling around either

He's shit, would be a crap back up signing.

Scored 3 non penalty goals in 29 starts for Preston last year. Not even good enough as back up

Not been in since it was taken over by Beautiful Pubs but the garden is gigantic. Marquis garden traps the heat in a bad way imo

Stephy Mavididi (no real rumour, some clubs "interested.")

It's a trade off, though. I like him generally but if we have an offer of £15m or so in our financial position we have to weigh it up. The system did stunt the goalscoring ability of our wingers in 23/24, I agree with that but he still only got 6 assists when in theory he should have been teeing up this overloads. He's a capable player but his ceiling is pretty much upper Championship and bottom half PL at push. He was in and out of the side last year because he was often complete ineffectual and his decision making is pretty wild. To get a similar output with much worse Championship players in a better side is damning, system or not. Someone like Zuriko Davitashvili would probably be available for about half the potential fee we could receive from Mavididi, probably on lower wages too. But again, to reiterate, I like him and this would only make sense if there was a credible £15mish offer which I doubt in all honesty. -

Anything north of of £15m we'd really have to consider it. He's a good Championship winger but he didn't completely tear it up last time, 12 goals, 6 assists, in 40 nineties for a side that won the league isn't that good. 0.38 non penalty xG+xA per 90 is average. Karlan Grant, Robbie Brady, Josh Murphy, Callum Robinson are in that ball park last season. -

Funnily enough I disembarked at Leicester and got a taxi from Conduit St which completely goes toe to toe with Brussels MZ. I wasn’t overly keen on it but didn’t dislike it either. However the beer (fantastic breadth and depth) food culture is redeeming. La fleur en papier doré is European Bar Guide’s #1 for 2025 and I can totally see it - more romantic than English pubs.

It’s amazing an area of a western capital is so run down, not just filthy but lawless too. Antwerp had the standard European dicey station environs (station itself is great) but it really picks up and culminates into an attractive centre.

Brussels Midi-Zuid is an incredible shithole

Hard disagree on that one

Antwerp is a great boozing city, much better than Bruges which was disappointing - at least midweek anyway. Kulminator is possibly the most unique pub I’ve been to, the neurotic landlord grills you on the way in to ensure you actually like a Lambic and you’re not just some sort of pisshead reveller. There’s hundreds of bottled beers in there, including amongst other ether beers, a John Smith’s from 1987(!). Tynt Meadow is proudly a write in after the 2017 publishing date too.

The estate agent I bought my house from was useless. Don’t even tell the seller about our second offer. They phoned up like, “sooo, errr do you want to put another offer in?” ”We have, on X date” ”oh right, erm yep, we’ll talk to the vendor” We had it like 10 minutes later, probably worked in our favour as nobody else had put an offer in and it was £11,000 under asking but we could have lost it entirely because of their incompetence.
-
Probably not seeing as Lyon pep buying their deadwood for serious money. Discrediting PSR is great but these deals surely don’t comply

Pride completely cosy up the club in these meetings. Complete sycophants and as far as I’m aware have never once criticised the club. The official supporters club the same. They care more about the tea and cake sinecure than their fellow fans.

The Coulibaly signing was a stupid overpay at £2m with 6 months left on his contract.
-
We signed Coady before Maresca joined iirc because we needed a 'leader'. Even our dossers should be able to pick up the simpler squad depth players without a manager but that seems beyond them.

https://fbref.com/en/players/9220e731/Cameron-Brannagan Seems a better 8 than anybody we have (arguably we have none so not a great reflection) but we can do better.
-
We've seen enough of him to know he's not the answer, a goal against a crap Ipswich side and Senegal doesn't change that. If he starts for us next season we're in trouble, fine as a squad player but £5m is of more use to us in our position. Alves is 3 year younger and looks better technically to me. He should be the third choice winger after Fatawu and Mavididi.

Premier League has charged LCFC with an alleged breach of PSR

Yep, 21/22 we spent big and consciously (if you believe them) didn’t make a sale. That record net spend, beaten by last summer’s dross btw, was on Daka, Soumare & Vestergaard none of whom were signed as first choice players. £40m on a proper RW and no additional spend would have been better.
