The Running Thread (formerly How fast can you run a 5k?)
CosbehFox replied to Sly's topic in General Chat
No park run today. A bad week of running for me really, only managed 5k. Might be good for the body tho in the long run I suppose -
We are talking at a period of 60 years on worst case scenario. The amount of engineering involved in this stadium project is massive

Just remember when people defend lcfc (and football clubs generally) on ticket prices, stories like this https://www.sportspromedia.com/news/premier-league-revenue-tv-rights-sponsorship-img-productions-november-2024/ Fans are paying for clubs failure to spend appropriately. They have more incoming money from media etc than ever before

People tend to forgot it was a Saturday at 9pm -

Yeah the football wasn’t pretty. England in 1990 were very England at the last euros -
World Cups of a Bygone Age (or ones you remember the most)

It's more symbolic though - and it's largely idolised by people far too young to actually watch the games. It was the last World Cup with West Germany, Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia. Romania were coming out of communism. Throw in unknown teams actually getting positive results for the first time. Alongside a load of football stadiums which looked like spaceships. Geopolitical the shift was massive. The growing pains of being a commercial World Cup also present. There's a cracking podcast series on it called Vincera for anyone. Personally think the World Cup of 90s are seismic when it comes to how the sport has progressed. -

Yeah the 30 (and 34) World Cup's are incredible. 1950 as well given the post war stuff. The stories about Yugoslavia in 1930 are superb. It's also where the ultra stuff all orginates too. -
Confidence Man tonight in Rock City. Cracking fun

Gonna be a right team of chuggers -
Completely different type of player. Grealish type. Think it’s difficult to judge Cannon at this stage
-
Possibly but having watched the kid live, he's very good - could see him doing a Morgan Rogers (PL debut this year at 22)

San Lorenzo is the problem one (and a couple of the lower division ones). I'll get there one day - Huracan as an architectural structure is superb
-
Starting forcing friendships too - early ones such as The Trip worked because it was literal best mates
-
You two lines contradict slightly while your point is valid. Investment into clubs is restricted by the current rules as illustrated by Newcastle.

Also why the club wanted to switch to digital STs. Can’t sling your phone towards him -
Looks like a misquote by a load of articles and it’s infact, Jack Dorset. I’m not kidding. Literally knock off Jack Dorsey https://x.com/BCGame_Jack

https://bsky.app/profile/philippeauclair.bsky.social/post/3lbex6y45n22h Well regarded journo on the case. Some not great signs from what he’s saying

@KP Fox No-one was doubting your claim - particularly given you've used articles from 2020 there. I was reinforcing the opinion of another was that the club had subsequently slowed down on donations recently by illustrating the two connected charities accounts for the accounts ending 30 June 2023 showed there was minimal direct donations. You stated : Yes! Some of that £1.79m has gone to hospitals including hospices and children's hospitals. And that was in the last financial year. The latter statement is wrong. The one of the two club charities in the last financial year donated £18k to the hospitals with the largest sums to charity going towards community organisations via Premier League's community projects - a lot of that is coaching projects and schemes etc. In 2021 for example, they built an excellent outdoor 5-a-side pitch in New Parks.

Just walked past - he’s one step ahead and removing the BC Game from all the shirts

She wants on the heating on now and all

Cheers Wymsey, got to explain to my two year old why she can’t have any crisps with her lunch

Yeah if you look deep into the last accounts for that charity - the income is larger than the expenditure with the bulk of the income coming from the PL fund. From the last accounts report, there no indication that the charity you’ve highlighted has received money from the owners or give it to the hospitals.
