  1. You are correct. Supposedly told lower PL clubs wasn't really that interested in joining them this summer .
  2. A lot of waffle from Leeds about they have given the blueprint how to stop us. I actually think a lot of clubs have been copying what Blackburn attempted. Mark the double pivot (Winks and Ricardo) and use that as your press point. What played out in that game was we managed to work the wingers into the game far more alongside NDidi breaking - eventually we'd work their midfield so hard, it broke down. We really need to miss a stage out when the press goes on the double pivot and try to get those wingers in the game. Our best moments in games recently always centre around the success of Fatawu and Mavididi.
  3. Gotta laugh at that interview really - he signed a further two year extension in 2020. A player who was competent rather than adding anything
  4. Just walked around Brum at lunch. Dutch family must be over for the AZ game tomorrow look absolutely besumed by the Christmas German Market !
  5. Sums up Root's last few weeks that alongside the nonsense he spoke - the 100 has really helped you Joe
  6. Thatcher's biggest success was killing collectivism within communities. Moynihan being a Cnut made that worse amongst football fans. It's no surprise that Liverpool and Scotland remain two areas in hatred of it all yet they are also two areas of the country where activism within football still exists. Scotland in particular the community feel is still there. That was my biggest take from visiting the Edinburgh derby. Ironically the only set of supporters who have said 'we will buy you a drink post-match' was Everton after we won there in 2015. Shared a taxi from near Goodison and literally bought me and two mates a pint back near Lime Street.
  7. It's our fans what sing similar stuff at Everton tho as well. Not aware of many what do that. That League Cup QF in December was ghoulish for it. But yeah all clubs are at, stretching back to songs being sung at Man U about Munich by a multitude of clubs.
  8. You find consistent examples of overcrowding/trouble during that period. Nearly 30k cramped into Filbert Street in 1983. The excellent Fever Pitch as a chapter where Nick Hornby says he was on the Clock End that afternoon of Hillsborough at it was utterly chaotic and overcrowded. Hillsborough could have happen in 1981 when Spurs played Wolves there - huge crush in the Leppings Lane end. Apparently at 300 over capacity. I think it's very, very symbolic of British society - that we have this whole level of chanting which primarily bases itself in 'I'm better than you'. Liverpool fans and the city have had the guts and raw energy to consistently prove they were ****ed over by:- 1) A tabloid newspaper which is commonly accepted as Scum and continually writes utter garbage. It has been part of an organisation which continually overstepped the mark 2) A police force which has had a very long history of cover-up, corruption and inability to learn. 3) A government which pushed the city to near on ruin. Hence now we have a city with lots of clean sheen in the centre but major gang issues and deprivation elsewhere. It's very English not to complain. Liverpool fans call out the crap (I am talking the proper match going ones here) and get the constant grief. Everyone was throwing tropes towards them in Paris when it was pretty apparent the French police were being their traditional selves. Yeah the Klopp hysteria, 'this means more', the self-importance that somehow their club is different to others. Yeah I get how that irks. I don't get how what irks is taking the piss out of child poverty and wanting to call out authority organisations which have a very long history of ****ing people/cities over.
  9. There is a slice of irony to that. The term 'Wool' is given by Scousers to people from nearby towns such as Warrington or areas like Birkenhead. They have over the last few years gone very Tory - Southport and Warrington South went blue at the last election.
  10. Both documents cite issues around the turnstiles and the approach to the stadium. At end of the day, we are pissing in the wind. The local SAG have decided that's the allocation. Pinpointing Newcastle fans at fault when a full investigation which Wednesday tried to bury say it's' anything but their fault I don't really get. For example, they closed four turnstiles into the lower tier for example.
  11. Shame it was to the worst bunch in the league last night. Good win by Anstey
  12. They were concerns about the approaches to the away end and the narrow width to the entrances here in 2019 - https://www.southyorks.police.uk/media/4337/crowd-risk-analysis-hillsborough-stadium-south-yorks-police.pdf 2012 - concerns over fences being used in close proximity to the away end https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-families-hillsborough-victims-outraged-3309510.amp Issue seems to largely stem around the approach to the away end.
  13. The findings of the local SAG suggest it wasn’t just that game where it was an issue
  14. 2,400 + 1,300 = 3,700 full allocation. Sunderland got 3600 for example. Reads to be we have the full available upper tier allocation as it stands. More tickets means opening up the lower which I suspect LCFC will have to put the money up.
  15. So getting excited now. Feyenoord v AZ on Sunday; although nervous I have been told my screenshot of a ticket should be okay, Feyenoord have gone to an app system but the bloke who sorted tickets said he couldn't keep the tickets on the app because it would then affect his ability to buy away tickets. Friday - the possibility of Dordrecht v Jong PSV. Dordrecht apparently a pretty place. Approx 25 mins on the train but it's whether we can be arsed after being on two trains for such a period. Especially with the opposition. Saturday - we have four options. Jong Sparta v AFC - sadly being played at Excelsior Massluis' ground rather than Het Kasteel. Capelle - 20 odd minutes on the tube, 5th tier, decent little ground Heersjandam - fifth tier, 30 minutes journey but a beautiful of a main stand Quick Boys - QB play in Katwijk which is on the coastline, there's no direct train rather you get to Leiden and then bus the rest. So it's a 1hr to 1hr 30 journey for 40km. However! This ground is simply stunning in its location. It sits next to the sand dunes. https://www.europlan-online.de/index.php?s=stadion&id=9321&t=s
  16. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-64943981# The capacity of the stand is reduced - it was after Newcastle cup game there last season. However, Sheffield City Council confirmed to Newcastle that as a result of the review, the Upper West Stand capacity has been reduced from 3,200 to 2,400 and the Lower West Stand capacity from 1,500 to 1,300.
  17. Arsenal's annual premature excitement has occurred again
  18. As early as 2012, when The BBC used it - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-19663132 I remember in school around 2000 being told by a Man City fan what they sung about Munich air disaster.
  19. The world's most Nottingham sounding man
  20. I tell you what us calling Leeds small time for their celebrations given we had people hanging off the rafters at Loftus Road is very small time. Leicester's support being touchy so so on social media again, I ain't shocked
  21. Over 10,000 deaths 😢
  22. Luton fan made a point that it wasn’t surprising it happened given the context of Liverpool at Heysel being the final straw in the banning of English clubs from European competition. Thus denying Luton European football. Not that it justifies it
  23. Strong division when I saw a game there last season. Chatham who I saw last season beat Ramsgate to the title and they are now 2nd in Isthmian.
  24. Yep, fully expect Australia and South American countries do well out of the hosting of the lesser FIFA tournaments for the next few years
