Its going to happen because we cant afford to sack him and improve the squad. In an ideal situation he should be going along with the board but when you look at it objectively there are valid excuses for his poor performance. Its a culmination of years of horrendous mismanagement from a senior level.

Another point to make is that he wasnt even given the correct coaching set up to help him. This board are shameful.

You can name the number of players on one hand that actually try and put any effort in to be competitive the rest have the mental strength of a soggy rich tea biscuit. Which brings us back to recruitment, the profile of player we’ve recruited in recent years is shameful. You’d never trust Soumare, Winks, Vestergaard, Faes etc to dig you out of a hole when the going gets tough. Cooper was heading this way too and i dont think any manager could have done a hell of a lot better, the mentality of the players we have is beyond poor. They were never up for a relegation scrap, just like 2 years ago, too many hangers on.

We stand more of a chance not blowing money on a huge payout and investing in the squad. We will need every penny this season. You can only play the hand you’re dealt and RvN was dealt the worst hand i’ve ever saw. Yes he panicked and reverted to the old stereotype of ‘Premier League experience’ but who brought us that so called ‘experience’. Even Pep would struggle with this lot and the senior leadership of the club.

To play devils advocate. Our other wing options bar Mavididi are non existent? Before anyone says play the kids you wouldnt throw them into a high pressure environment this early in their career and ruin it for them. Also as much as i dislike Faes somehow the alternatives were worse. Its a complete failure of recruitment and senior leadership from the club.

I’m going to stick my neck on the line here and say its actually very hard to level much blame at RvNs feet. Yes he hasn’t made the best tactical decisions at times but this isn’t his team really? He was brought in on the back of 2/3 years of incredibly bad transfer strategy. Theres only so much you can do when the club has hamstrung its finances by offering huge deals to Vestergaard and Coady as well as all of the other muck. If anything he’s now best placed to say where its gone wrong and where to improve, if we have a bad summer then a poor start to the season then get rid but as far as it stands we have bigger issues than the manager.

Martin will relegate us next season if we appoint him.

If we’d have had competent ownership he wouldn't have even got one but the problem is any decent manager at the time didn’t want to be anywhere near us because of PSR. It’s going to be a long few years now.

Worst centre back in our history. I’ll never forget how many people were all over this lad after we got spanked by Spurs. He is a major reason we’ve been so bad recently.

Hes leaving because he’ll get a lot more money somewhere else and doesnt want a long hard season in the Championship when he can semi retire and earn a fortune. He deserves it and as a club we need all the help we can financially.

He wont be staying in England. Theres a big payday somewhere and he knows it.

I would add the Maguire transfer to the list because ripping off a woefully mismanaged Man Utd has made Rudkin think hes some sort of shrewd operator in the Transfer market. I think if that deal didnt happen we’d be in such a better position as a club because the selling tactic wouldnt be ‘reject any first offer because they’ll come back like Utd did you’ll see’.

Rodgers temper tantrum and inability to let go of his own ego is a huge contributing factor in why we are where we are but Rudkin is still the true master of our demise. The Maguire transfer in hindsight has ruined us because now Rudkin thinks he can play hard ball at every opportunity and its directly lead to us losing lots of players for nothing. He should have sold Tielemans and Soyuncu a year or two earlier when it became clear they would not sign also consistently turning fees down for our squad players because he thinks he can get more and then they are still here (Soumare, Vestergaard and more recently McAteer). Currently i’ve got no hope for the future, i think we are in for a long decade at the very least.

Like that run a few years ago against Spurs had half of our fanbase saying ‘theres a player in there’. He’s the worst player i’ve seen play for us with Vestergaard and Faes rounding out the top 3. I know ability wise there have been worse players but at least those players made effort.

The one thing i’ve noticed is that bar Maresca the players have looked unfit under ever manager we’ve had since Ranieri.

Chelsea fans sounding a lot like some of us this time last year. Once hes figured out hes easy to counter is Maresca. If managers in the Championship were doing it then it was a matter of time before Premier League managers sussed him out.
