He was superb tonight. Just hope he can keep it up. As much as I’m hating Winks and his over inflated ego, I can’t help but think he needs to partner Soumare. As good as Soumare was tonight, we didn’t dominate the midfield at all. Winks would have dominated it i’m fairly sure.

I was at a wedding all day yesterday so this is being posted without the context of listening to or watching the game - infuriatingly bad timing as Charlton is pretty local to me and I’d have definitely gone. But anyway, as I lie here with an early morning hangover, I became aware of the results yesterday. Sheffield United are yet to get a single point. Ipswich are yet to get a single win and Southampton’s only win came against Wrexham who are managed by a guy with a win ratio at this level which is under 35%. Fair to say we’ve not started the season well at all. We looked great against Fiorentina and I think we all got carried away. HMS piss the league posts for days. But aside from 45 minutes of hammering the door down against Sheffield Wednesday, and a 10 minute spell last week at Preston, it doesn’t sound to me like we’ve had any sustained attacking football in 270 minutes of football so far. But we have won 2 out of 3 and the table doesn’t lie. We’re ahead of all of the promotion favourites. It gives us something to build on ‘cause this is not an easy league to get out of. Ask Stoke. Who ironically have been incredible so far. We need to improve on Friday as Brum will come down thinking they can beat us and I suspect they will if we don’t massively step it up. Context is important too. We’ve beaten a club in absolute turmoil and one who has just come up. Birmingham will be a stern test. That’s all I have to say about that. I need a paracetamol!

So in summary, we just need to bring Nigel back and everything will be fine.

It seems obvious to me that we’re in more financial hot water than any of us anticipated. This is self inflicted so I have no sympathy for the board or Top. But it would be so much easier to cope with if they just came out and explained things to us. Even if it was a bit vague. Explain that this summer we do not to reset so there will be sales. But that the ambition is still there and that the club aim to be competitive in the market again by the summer of 2026. At least then we’d strap ourselves in for a long and arduous season whilst retaining some hope of better times ahead. This willingness to sell anyone and replace them with no-one, whilst explaining nothing is just soul destroying. I hate our club right now.

I hadn’t actually prepared myself for several years in the Championship but I guess I’m going to have to. The glory days really are over now and we are back to what we’ve always been…..a club that will occasionally go up but definitely come back down again 😢

I’m not sure I agree. The emotional attachment I have to this club goes back significantly further than his does. But sometimes you have to wake up and smell the roses.

I don’t actually hate Vestergaard. I think he’s a decent footballer and I don’t think he’s ever shown a lack of effort. He’s just totally immobile and it causes problems in team like us who play high and generally dominate possession. It makes it so easy the opposition to spin us on the counter. He especially can’t play in a back 3. Okoli has decent pace and Faes isn’t slow by any stretch but when you’ve been spun quickly they’re almost always out of position and can’t cover in for his lack of pace. He just needs to go but he does also need to be replaced.

I can’t even get excited about having Jeremy Monga in our squad. It just feels like he’s on loan for the season. He’ll go in the summer and that will be that. The club is in utter ruins. Sell Top. Honour your father and do the right thing. Sell our club now whilst it retains some saleable assets. Don’t let us slip back down to L1.

This is a new low for us as far as I’m concerned. If the club don’t spend money this coming week then we’re utterly ****ed. I’m not gonna lay into Marti just yet. He’s dealing with the shit hand he’s been dealt.

It is complete negligence from the board if we go the entire summer without adding to this squad. I don’t care how bloated the squad is. We clearly need the fresh enthusiasm that a new signing or two would bring. That’s without talking about the quality we’re so lacking. Having said all of that…losing to PNE in this way and with this squad home or away would be unacceptable. You can lose to lesser squads but there are ways to lose games that are acceptable at least. Losing when you’ve been utterly useless against a side you should be capable of beating isn’t ok.

Yes technically we could but no we won’t. As much as the squad is crap. It’s crap for a PL club. It’s ridiculously stacked at this level. We’ll be fine. And if we’re not, Marti will go and someone will come in who will make us fine. I should add that I’m fully backing Marti to be the guy by the way.

I seriously doubt Everton can afford Fatawu having bought KDH and agreed to cover Grealish’s wages plus his loan fee. I think we’ll ask for north of £30m and that will be that. Having said that, IF we do get an offer and it is acceptable I would demand Jack Harrison part of the deal. He would do the job at this level. I don’t back Macateer to replace Fatawu.

I’m not convinced Newcastle will pay £30m if that is the figure. I would like to say that if there have been enquiries Marti shouldn’t be picking him. But he probably doesn’t know because Rudkin won’t tell him because he’s a cock.

Can see him starting on Wednesday - that’ll make the first round of the Mickey Mouse cup worth watching!

Add to that the fact that Marti has only been in charge for 3/4 weeks. We do need to be patient - not our strongest attribute as a fan base!

I think maybe we all massively underestimated how difficult a fixture this would be. We all just assumed they’d be knackered and have no bench etc which proved to be true. But we didn’t give them the credit they deserved for the spirit they showed. I imagine they’ll have that again next week when they’re back at home but over the next few months, that will drain out of them and they will become the easy 3 points we expected. Fair play to them. They exceeded any expectations I had and we underperformed for large parts. But I’m not too down on us. I’m convinced we’ll be just fine but Marti needs time.

Guys…..it’s just a number ffs. Chill out. The legend of Vardy will live on regardless of who wears his old number. No one will wear it with the same level of success. But we weren’t going to never have a number 9 again….
