Imagine rocking up on your first day and having Ayew or Daka as your striking options
-
Positives: He knows the league in and out, and likely has well established backroom staff to come straight in with him Negatives: Far from an inspiring or exciting appointment and seems a run-of-the-mill Championship Manager. Up to the players now whether they respond well to him and get us to safety or not. I have my doubts, as they are a useless bunch.
-
You just know that Top has left him hanging for the past 3 weeks, whilst he has tried to get Enzo and other bigger name Managers in... Hopefully, Rowett can learn to ignore Top and Rudkin, and just focus on keeping us up this season. He will soon discover in the Summer, how truly inept Top and Rudkin are.
-
So, Top is going with his 3rd or 4th choice again? We have seen this before... Hopefully, Rowett clicks with the squad and keeps us safe. He will need to get them working much harder at the very least. Not who I wanted, but I will back him 100%.
-
Took over with the club in trouble and got relegated to League 1 you mean?
-
Could it be we don't even have the funds for a new Manager?
-
Agreed, Dyche ain't happening. I do expect to see him take a Championship job in the Summer though. I think it will be Rowett or Hasenhuttl
-
I want Dyche now, but I suspect it will be Rowett or Hasenhuttl
-
Dyche is damaged goods now. I don't see him getting another Premier League job. His best bet is to drop down to the Championship. Personally, I think Leicester are perfect for him. It is very rare for a Manager to jump straight into another job within days/weeks though. I suspect he will wait until the Summer and then take a playoff hopeful club in this league.

We are playing hard to get. Never fails
-
I agree. I get the feeling we could become a midtable to lower Championship club for the forseeable future, that includes any relegations to League 1 as well. There is just so much wrong with the club and leadership. I expect Top will cling on but become a passive owner and let us just rot with minimum investment.

Person you want to get us out this mess

If he is healthy... I would take Pearson right now. Send out the Bat signal -

Top and Rudkin deserve to be relegated. -
4th in the National League is not a decent job for Carlisle. Just saying
-
my thoughts too. They were desperate for him to win a game, so they can confirm him. Doubt they would even give him a pay rise either.
-
I think he is a better fit for them at the moment. I struggle to see how he would motivate our squad of divas and underperformers. It will likely take a very strong character to get a tune out of us until the end of the season.
-
We are doomed then
-
Majority here seemed happy with Cifuentes too, and look how that turned out. Sometimes, it is just luck whether a Manager clicks with a club and squad or not. Not to say that we should just appoint anyone, but I do find it strange that people are so willing to lambast others who have a different opinion/vision of what might or might not work. Personally, I am not keen on hiring Rowett, but he may just click here.
-
where are people hearing this? That would be far too good to be true.
-
I want Top to be forced to sell, so why would this be good news?
-
Gareth Southgate has said that he is not looking for a return to football management, saying it would be hard to recreate the “higher calling” he found as England’s manager. He said this only a couple of Months ago. No way he comes to a job like this, with that kind of thinking.
-
if we are being pedantic, then he actually said 'very little' to improve us, which with just 2 wins in 8, I can't really argue with, especially with some very winnable games in those final 8. I get the 8 games previous point though and that showed how toxic Rodgers had become, but I still don't see how people can say that Smith did much to improve us considering the calibre of players we still had back then. Different story now of course, but certainly can see why he would still be seen as an underwhelming appointment by some.
-
The thing about Southgate, he could likely build something here, especially bringing through youth players. He certainly has connections and likely has a deep knowledge of some of the brightest young talents across England. I think whilst he would be unlikely to instantly inspire a fanbase and it would be a slow burn, it might be what we need most as a club right now. Similar to how Pearson, Shakey and Walsh rebuilt us from rock bottom. I think we could do worse right now. I would be surprised if he joined though, as to go from England Manager to a potential relegation to League 1, would be a big risk for any Manager to take.
-
His judgement on bringing in Terry too. I don't actually mind Dean Smith, but he seems like a Mr Nice Guy, and we just had that under Cifuentes and the players just didn't respond, and as you say, seems like he could be another 'Yes' man for Rudkin and Top. I still think we need someone who will be much tougher with the players and get them running again. Not to be confused with RVN 'toughness'... as that was never going to work in the Premier League and with no staff around him. Very few options out there though.
-
He is a League 2 level player, maybe League 1 at a stretch... but would you want him as our starting LB even if we go down? I wouldn't. Truly baffling how he wasn't sold/released years ago and playing in the lower leagues now.
