Yeah I think Chelsea have proven their ability to hoard players. I wonder whether we need to find some other way to balance it, only 2 loans is too restrictive, 5 would be a good position, then you'd maybe have to either cap the number of youth players a team can sign to stop them scooping up half the market. It just feels like 2 is too restrictive to me, we could have given a massive opportunity to multiple young players in the big 6 academy's this season, so could Ipswich/Wolves/Southampton, in the end none of us will.

Could This Be the Most Important January Ever?
cityfanlee23 replied to StanSP's topic in Leicester City Forum
The last couple of seasons his injuries have definitely crept up, hard to tell if it's because he's struggling for regular match time or if his body is going. Overall he's missed 45 games in 7 seasons, with 29 of them coming in the last 2 years. The groin and hamstring injuries would concern me, Toe injury is hard to tell because it's often a knock which can happen to anyone rather than a tear for example. You raise a good point. He's been in and out of the team for some time now without regular stints (he's made about 15 full 90 minutes per season over the last couple of years). I'd have to leave that to the scouts/physios to properly investigate really. Could very well be an issue though. -
It's probably a stretch, but he's out of contract and had some frustrations there, he's dutch so had the connection, but i'd imagine if he leaves Ajax it could be to a bigger club than us, we have to be in the mix though because you never know what you can pull off with in the premier league.

For potentially £10m we could get Devyn Rensch and Chancel Mbemba on perms, with Lindelof on loan with an option to sign if we stay up and like him. 3 players that massively improve what we currently have, Rensch and Mbemba on cheap wages, Lindelof could potentially have some wages paid by United, 2 of them would absolutely dominate the championship if we went down. These are the sort of deals we need, unfortunately. Personally I think Mbemba improves our chances of staying up far more than playing Faes/Coady.
-
Way too many people writing him off without actually seeing him for Porto/Marseille, I mean, even when he was at Newcastle he was the best CB they had when they went down, statistically, he was better than Wes Morgan in most of the key defensive stats (I know stats can be skewed) For 3m he's a cheap punt, and even if he struggles, he is MILES better than the Championship.
-
Of course but did Coady and Vestergaard play in the champions league? Mbemba was playing well before coming back from international duty and being dropped over the fallout, Mbemba when he was in the prem was statistically a very solid defender, which is why he went to Porto and then onto Marseille. Vesty and Coady went from Southampton to a declining Leicester, and Wolves to a collapsing Everton and then a relegated Leicester. I get your point on premier league experience not being a great reason to sign players, but having experience of how fast and strong this league is, is always a benefit. The main issue with us at the moment, is we simply cannot afford to spend £80m on defenders only to be relegated with a whimper and be stuck with them, players like Mbemba are cheap, have experience, have been playing well over the last few seasons, and most importantly, will likely stick with us and are good enough to dominate the doom league should we go down.

I don't understand why loans are restricted to just 2, right now we are a perfect example of a club that would be able to play at least 5 loan players consistently in the premier league. Why is it so restrictive?

Lindelof on loan would be my #1 target. Contract up in summer, easily a top half prem defender, bags of experience, needs to put himself in the window if he is to get a decent club in summer. (Edouard out) -
Very cheap, low wages (until rudkin gets his hands on the contract negotiations that it) prem and champions league experience, was really solid for Marseille until they had the fallout. Agree it's not an inspiring signing, but for £3m he's far better than Vesty/Coady/Faes, and he would dominate the championship IMO. This is the sort of signing we need if we have a chance of staying up, finding players with good experience, with a few years left in them for £3m can't be sniffed at.

Run, run as far and fast away as possible, the club is in big trouble
-
Would it be worth looking at Chilwell to take up the loan slot left by cancelling Edouard?
-
Considering he's still only 24, a good goalkeeping coach and he could become a real prem keeper, felt like he was much older. Mads will go in the summer and Jakub is a position we don't need to worry about in the Championship if we go down, other than who will be his #2.

Liverpool 3-1 LCFC, post match thread
cityfanlee23 replied to Phil Mitchell's topic in Leicester City Forum
Result would have been nice but expected nothing, but we just made silly mistakes constantly, playing Ayew and taking so long to make positive changes, trying to play out from defence vs LIVERPOOL who are notorious for pressing, just silly decision after silly decision. We gave up at 1-0 up and thought we could defend for 85 mins. -
Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official
cityfanlee23 replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
One of my favourite ever players, absolutely loved Ruud during the 2000s, he's very quickly ruining that. I was NOT expecting a result today, but we nicked a goal and tried to defend for 85 mins, just pure stupidity, trying to play out from the back vs one of the most aggressive pressing teams in the world. He makes a great decision dropping Ward, and then steps on the rake again by playing Ayew. I really want him to do well because I loved him so much as a player, I think we might end up sacking him before the end of the transfer window. -
Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official
cityfanlee23 replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
I just don't know where we are at the moment, some of the mistakes Ruud has made so far are unacceptable, if Cooper had played Hamza/Skipp at Newcastle, and picked Ward when mads picked up his knock, this place would be on fire. We are so early into his tenure it really is hard to judge but 4 games in Cooper was on the chopping block with most, and Ruud has done basically nothing to show he's an upgrade, tactically he's made some changes, but the performances have been just as bad if not worse than much of what Cooper offered up, our win against West Ham and draw against Brighton were 2 games where realistically we could have been dead and buried if they had their shooting boots on, and were somewhat fortunate to come away with 4 points from them both, is that the "new manager bounce"? We go into January needing at least 50m spent just on the back 4, we likely need a versatile winger who can play on both sides. Our recruitment under Glover has been relatively poor. Do we try to sign young defenders for 15-20m on lower wages and accept relegation? or do we go for some cheaper, experienced heads who will command a higher wage on a 3 year deal who we then get lumbered with? Sacking Cooper was inevitable, but it was absolutely mandatory that Ruud got us organised quickly and improved every position 10%, so far he hasn't even come close to that, very worrying indeed, he needs to turn this around because we now go into the Christmas games against Liverpool who are going to put 7 past us, and Man City/Villa are likely going to breeze past. So what do we do, gamble? or play it safe and accept our fate? Option 3 is Ruud can actually find a system that shores us up defensively, but I won't hold my breath with this circus of a back 4. -
Oh how I miss the standards him, Walshy and Shakey set. Bring him back as DOF, give Walshy unquestionable control of recruitment. Bring some standards back to this mess of a football club.
-
I was trying to think of the comparisons I could make for our football club to other businesses that we've seen over the last few decades that sum up the last few years of King Power. In footballing terms we are Manchester United post SAF, Massive success to massive decline, club full of big earners who don't care, standards that were left by Pearson absolutely eroded. In car terms we are the Rover of football clubs. In Game company terms we are the Ubisoft of football at the moment, poor financial decisions, poor board decisions and a complete lack of direction leading to us freefalling into nowhere and having to desperately make our poor decisions of the past work.
-
Ruud inherited a mess, but there is ZERO excuse for playing Ward, ZERO excuse for not starting Buonanotte and ZERO excuse for not bringing him on at halftime. He needs to at the very least improve the shape and I'll say it for the 10th time today, do the basics, if he can't show that he can get the players doing the basics, it's probably safer to not spend in Jan and just go down for a couple of seasons so we can finally rid the club of the deadwood we've been hanging on to for so long. No excuses now, we have to start improving what we have at the very least, or even 100m won't save us in Jan.
-
I fully support any fan leaving early, tickets are expensive, traffic is awful, then the players just can't be bothered to put a proper shift in. I don't even bother to go anymore, what's the point? They are not worth it.
-
Ward isn’t to blame… Don’t watch the highlights
-
I can’t see us playing with such poor attitude and lack of passion under Nige. It’s got to the point if I could pull a lever now and have him in the dugout I’d pull it off its hinges. Leicester deserve fans less and less by each passing day. Speedy recovery Nige. Our foundations need fixing.
-
On our current performances I’ll give him until February to bring a few players in and nail down the basics, if by Feb nothing has improved I’d be tempted. can’t help but think we don’t play this badly with Moyes in charge. The fact the players are allowed to play with such little care for the badge is criminal. We are a carbon copy of United but without the talent. A period of success, followed by years of decline, overpaid players who don’t care about the club, overpaid people at the top, and absolutely zero leadership, zero standards. I’d even be tempted to get Nige back In at this point to fix the foundations. Joke of a club. I’ve lost all passion for us these days, I’m not even bothering to watch the 2nd half.
-
My head is all over the place in just 4 matches, he doesn’t look good enough, I wasn’t expecting miracles but I was expecting atleast the basics, you don’t get a prem job without being capable of addressing the basics (in most cases) We’ve found the only manager in Europe that would pick Ward over iversen. Do we try to back him in January? If we back him in January and he doesn’t improve us or get the basics right, can we afford to sack? Or are we just consigned to having Ruud manage us in the championship? I feel like I’m being massively harsh on him here because of what he’s inherited, but the man has put Ward in goal. If this football continues throughout January I’d be very tempted to change again, then again we might not be able to even get anyone. Maybe Corberan or Rohl will join us in the championship. This is dire, need a second half miracle.
-
Honestly I don’t envy what Ruud has walked into, but in 4 games he’s done nothing to show me he’s upto the task other than get a small manger bounce where we got some fortunate results, overall our play has been atrocious.

Putting Ward in goal is on Ruud.
