I'm being reminded a little bit of when Pearson went to Bristol City and didn't immediately get results. We have a lot of fans who are questioning the appointment, and a huge amount of Forest fans telling us we are lucky to have him and to keep faith. When Pearson went to Bristol City, a lot of their fans especially at the beginning when results didn't come immediately were thinking it was a sideways step and they had loads of Leicester fans telling them to be patient because he will build a foundation and come good. In the end, Pearson was one of the only people seemingly holding the fanbase together, the majority were absolutely gutted when he got sacked. Both scenarios seem strikingly similar. I hope the Forest fans are right.

I thought the same, articles suggest he’s on 90k a week, but Galatasaray have offered him 50k a week. I’d imagine it would be closer to 65-70k a week which is a lot but if we could get that sort of deal with a relegation clause it could be affordable. of course this is all speculation, knowing United he’s probably on 300k a week 😂

Wan-Bissaka in advanced talks with Galatasaray, rumoured to be £10-15m. Surely he could offer us a longer term replacement for Ricardo? Obviously his time at United has been off but the majority of players who have signed for them have struggled given what a poisoned chalice it’s been.

Kante - £10m allegedly, would need the biggest wage cut in history though Soyuncu - £8m, bring him home, if he had been played in the last prem season from the start, I think we stay up. Loan with a buy option if we stay up. Renato Sanches - On the books at PSG but looks likely to go out on loan again, was at Roma last season and PSG paid most of his wages. Clement Lenglet - Was on loan at Villa last season, 14 appearances in a very competitive side, could be a cheap loan. Kalvin Phillips - This one is a big IF, had a horrendous time since signing for City but if we got a tune out of him he's a very good midfielder. Loads of question marks. Daichi Kamada - Unfortunately likely to go to palace (palace will be next seasons dark horse) Kieren Tierney - Good Left Back option if Kristiansen decides he wants to go. David Carmo - Linked with him already, left footed CB, £15m Djed Spence - Thrived under Cooper, unwanted by Spurs. Loan with buy option. Joe Rodon - Linked with us last couple of days, played for Cooper at Swansea, Loan from spurs. Said Benrahma - Lots of question marks on this one, but he's a lively player that can play in the middle if needed, doesn't score enough but he's a player that would open space for Fatawu/Mavididi on the wings. Loan.

100% give him a deal. I fancied him to return to form in the championship, never in any lifetime would I have expected it to be in the role he played, but he fought hard and adapted to his role better than I think any of us could have expected, he will cost more to replace than we will get for him. Let Cooper have a go and bring the monster we had a few years ago back to form.

100%, there needs to be a very clear direction and strategy that we can see. If we go down and we are fighting and we are clearly rebuilding a foundation then I'll accept going down and keeping him on. Just saying the right thing won't be enough, but it definitely helps to bring fans onboard when you're saying the right things regarding fighting for the badge, remembering who you play for etc.

To add to this, in the premier league, he played (on paper): 3421, 343, 4231, 541, 532, 433 (with an attacking mid) In the championship, he also played a 4312 and a 4321. Obviously, these are all paper formations and they are not always 100% accurate. But he is certainly pragmatic!

Hearing the way he talks about the fans, the heritage, the community, and why they are doing it, if he can bring this sort of unity to us and we look like we are building a clear identity and a foundation, he can have a free hit as far as I'm concerned. Can really see why most Forest fans love him.

Yep, I expect this is likely media spin. The Scum recently made an article claiming sources at Leicester are quietly confident we won't need to sell players, they can't make their minds up.

I'm more comfortable with Cooper as manager facing the premier league challenge we face than I would be with Maresca. I never thought the football would work in the prem, and we needed big bucks to make it effective. Under Cooper we have someone who will play youth, is typically flexible with his system to fit what he has, fans of the clubs he's managed love him, seems a genuinely nice bloke, and if we go down he isn't likely to throw the towel in and have his mates in the media trying to get him a new job. Not my first choice, but he's here now and I expect he will give us stability going forward.

For me as a fan it's nice to have a likeable manager again. Puel was stubborn as hell (although I think he helped us a lot) Rodgers was great when times were good, but for 2 years he made excuse after excuse, and even started blaming the fans, Maresca basically said if the fans don't like it then I'm off and was stubborn as hell. Atleast with Cooper he has a track record of really caring about the club, immersing himself in the community and building a great relationship with players and fans, I think that's a small but significant step in uniting us behind him and the team. If the team is trying, and Cooper I doing the right things, building a good relationship with the fans could be the difference between relegation and hanging on.

I think we can do much worse than a guy who completely surrounds himself in the club. His open letter to the fans for those who haven't seen it. It's a small detail, and it's easy to do, but the point is he's started his tenure in the right way.

I think realistically we have to look at the long term, we are coming up with a much weaker squad than we went down with last season, we don't have much to spend, we are facing a points deduction that could be up to 10 points or something ridiculous, If Potter came in, firstly he would command a bigger wage, secondly he would want to bring in his staff who would likely command a bigger wage having worked at Chelsea etc (remember we don't know what the ongoing situation is with Chelsea and the staff) and they could easily be still getting a paycheck from Chelsea that may end if they take another job. Then say Potter comes in, I'd be happy with it, but then we get slapped with -10 and go down, will he want to stick around? I think realistically he would leave at the first chance putting us back to square one, a new manager coming in and wanting a revamp. With Cooper, providing he shows the fans he is building something that we can clearly identify and we support (as for example Pearson was with the great escape), even if we go down we have a manager that will likely come down with us. THIS, is the attitude we need from our manager. Forget his Forest ties, if he comes in and takes this approach, I'll back him fully.

My gut instinct is that he will keep us up and do okay here, maybe bring us stability and hopefully put us into the mid table again.

Most Forest fans seemingly didn’t want him sacked and were of the opinion that he would have kept them up. Seems to me the fans fully blamed the board for signing so many players and felt Steve Cooper was doing a good job trying to tame the circus upstairs.

Same here. Meh is the only real emotion at this point. But I think he's an honest guy and he's likeable, he seems to fully involve himself in clubs, and at least we might get some game time for the likes of Alves etc.

I would say for all of Rudkins flaws, managers typically have been one of his stronger points, they haven't always been inspiring but we've done well with managers. Nige, Ranieri, Shakey got the job on the back of a massive response when Ranieri went, Puel left the club in a far better position than he inherited in terms of players and the fact we were a far more dynamic team when he left, Rodgers was fantastic until he wasn't, and it's Tops decision to keep him on that spoiled it, Maresca got us up. Rudkin has many faults in his role but IMO his management appointments have been solid. He's probably going to spend 40m on non league players but I hope he's got it right with cooper

I've put yes, albeit begrudgingly. He's proven to give younger players a chance which is something we are going to have to focus on both in the Academy and in our transfer approach, I think his record at the premier league leaves something to be desired, but he was out of the relegation zone at a Forest team that really scatter gunned the transfers and rumours suggest he was effectively removed from a lot of the transfer process. This does leave me with concerns over his ability to find a player capable of this level. The football wasn't especially exciting but our options are limited. If given the choice I'd prefer Corberan or Potter over Cooper, but if it saves us 5-6m (larger wages for potter + his team, or having to buy out Corberan and his team) that could be the money needed to bring someone like Cags back on loan with an option to buy, so maybe signing someone out of work could benefit us if we are clever. I'd have taken him during our mini crisis towards the end of last season, but having been given a month to properly think about it and look at our options, I'd back him but would prefer other candidates. He seems a likeable guy and seems honest, hopefully he can get the players onside because we need them running through brick walls for us.

Cags would be a very good signing. Was a massive improvement to the squad under Dean Smith, knows the club, I think he likes it, makes sense for both parties.

Please put the pitchforks away as you read this, it's not a "suggestion" as such. But what do people think of Deli Alli but only if he signed a pay-as-you-play deal like Owen did at United? He's obviously had issues and it's been very publicly covered, but he seems to have turned a corner, he sounds very honest when talking about his desire to get back to his best. Free agent, 28 years old so has time ahead of him.

But also yes I completely agree. There’s been many times over the years where I’ve seen us falter and thought “Jose would have got us over the line” or Ancelotti or whoever it may be.

I wonder whether we also need to come up with some sort of way to align the premier league with the national team as Germany did a few years ago where the Bundesliga were typically playing a style of football that suited the national team as a whole and led to a good few years of them being on top. We have the most competitive league in the world with the best talents, and it doesn’t seem to align with the way the national team plays, perhaps the FA can work with premier league teams to come up with a long term plan to try to bring England trophies. What’s the point in having all of these internationals, often playing front footed football only to get to the England training camp and play cautiously. Whenever we let the leash off we look so much better, we need a semi unified approach with English clubs to get the most out of players nationally.
