I’m not saying we shouldn’t sell him now. but he’s added value to us since that contract renewal imo. And at we would have been letting him go for free without it. Theres worse business been done by the club than keeping a handy squad player around a little longer and probably recuperating more money in the process when he eventually leaves

If we had, we may well still be a championship club this season. The West Brom game was a huge sliding doors moment for our club and was well worth whatever we’ve paid him (plus he’s not even lost any value)

I do like signing players from the championship as they tend to make the step up far easier than players from international leagues. I just don’t think there’s a stand out championship player right now that I’d be desperate for. The winger at watford could ve a good move though

I really wonder how good he can get. I think Glover has proven his worth at spotting creative players. He must be pulling his hair out that the cooper pushed the premier league proven lads on him as i’m sure he would have filled the spot with someone special given the funds. He has a strong history for this as well, famously bringing payet to west ham. Where he has historically struggled is with defensive players and I don’t think he’s cracked one of those for us yet.

people are so quick to forget how harry kane looked for us ( same age as cannon). He was not bagging goals as consistently and certainly had a long way to go still. Where was toney or watkins at this age? Because he got a well paid move people just look at him as a senior pro rather than a kid who could only legally drink in the states as of last week. While i’m reminding everyone of his age, chris popov is 20… do we judge him the same? i’ve seen Everton fans still frustrated they sold him. I think that had he been from our academy, we’d be looking at him in a different light. I’m just annoyed that we aren’t in a financial position to be patient and see what level he can reach because the reality is that a 3 mil profit would probably be taken right now. If we go down, we’ll need a striker and would be looking at someone of his profile so selling him just seems barmy at this point.

Not worth reducing our assets value and hurting his career for those sporadic opportunities. He’s now actually gone up in value and hopefully further developed his game.

I’m not a football expert like John rudkin but for most clubs it makes sense to sell a player who won’t renew a contract so that you can replace them and not fail ffp. But ya’know, it’s not the Leicester way

He’s restored my faith in the last game. That was the bravest we’ve been against a big side since the rock and roll years of Brendan. It would have been far easier to park the bus with a low block and try to scrape a 1-0. But that was one of the best games I’ve watched in a long time, enjoyable football, end to end, brave football. Smart subs. If we play like that every week I’m confident we will survive. What’s important is that we play facundo and bilal… they are difference makers and both actually try hard to defend. it’s so sad that we can’t add fatawu and Ricardo to that line up because we would have cooked.

So what this means, is that if we go down, rather than just utilizing souttar and Nelson for promotion… both will be recovering so we will waste vast amounts of money on an over the hill prem player. (If we are not on an embargo) Ben Mee? Craig Dawson? Bednarek? can’t wait

He’s joint 3rd top goal scorer in a terrible stoke squad, he’s still the age that most wonderkids are sat in the development squad still. He is absolutely worth 15m based on the going rate for top championship strikers these days. Im torn tbh, because I feel like if he was from our development side and we’d loaned him out to Preston and then stoke, I don’t think anyone would even consider letting him go. At the end of the day, the club needs to sell to buy these days but something tells me that he will eventually become a top premier league player. That just might take 3/4 seasons. We messed up the loan really, because we needed to see him in a better side to make a real judgement call. The stoke fans admit that he’s had no service at all. But it’s not like he could play in our side as he wouldn’t get a lot more here.
