He plays with a youth team mentality! You simply can’t as a keeper. That’s your box, your defense…. You simply have to control it. Nobody has a better view of it than the keeper
-
Annoying that he gets minute when Hutchinson or any number of the under 23s are just as developed as this guy. Completely signed to appease fans and nothing to do with ability
-
Personal opinion. I’ve played cb my whole life, the own goal doesn’t happen if you know the keeper has it but if your keeper isn’t clear you have to deal with it. Simple as. Obviously could do better with the first one but again the way Jakob was in no man’s land implies to me that he probably calls for it. One shout of deal with it and your cb gets rid.

The players let him down today. Horrific decisions all over the park and you saw as soon as they scored every pass was a little off, the confidence evaporated in an instant and nobody had the balls to actually try and score. I don’t think it’s a question of the set up being wrong today, yet again the players have skirted responsibility and individual errors have destroyed us. Jakobs communication is as bad as wards, genuinely. Both goals a commanding keeper wouldn’t allow because the players would be hearing from him exactly what to do.

5 wow. Against a top clubs under 23s that’s very impressive -
Hahahaha after all of their crying about not getting a pen. Ridiculous
-
I don’t dispute that. I think I’ve made my point poorly. I’m not expecting us to be getting players ahead of them, just pointing out how outrageous it is to pay that sort of money for someone with skipps profile I’m not accepting that 22m is the going rate for him no matter how it’s spun
-
Yeah he definitely wasn’t his usual self. But he put in a great performance. Maybe just a bit embarrassed by the situation
-
My argument wasn’t that they dont spend large amounts of money… it was “Man city manage to sign the worlds best talent for not a lot more than we paid for skipp (22m total I believe).” which is true. They get top players for those sums. Obviously they do splash the cash as well.
-
Curious why a club would care about that though? I don’t disagree with wages but why would spurs cut a better deal for man city than us for example? I think clubs just know how to deal with Rudkin and also play him at his own game, we aren’t reasonable to deal with either. Rudkin over paid but he rarely sold cheap. This summer was the first time we’ve really had to make big concessions (Hermansen and bilal) and that’s because we couldn’t afford to hold out without screwing ourselves further im adamant, a half competent dof, a quarter competent… could have got ayew for 2 m and skipp for 10. Both clubs just wanted them gone
-
35 is 30m gbp so not a lot more than an olly skipp lol. Man city tend to get decent deals done in terms of transfer cost. It’s their wages and agent fees that tend to be insane. But then again so are ours but for whatever reason, club to club they are pretty good aside from the occasional panic push
-
To be fair to hamza he went to a far better Sheffield united side than us last season and received very high praise for his time there. he is absolutely capable but for whatever reason he’s just never been able to do it consistently for us. Would be a good time for him to have a good run for us
-
Interesting take. I think he’d have had a poor season personally. I wouldn’t say he’d be a big upgrade on skipp or winks in his current state.
-
Eventually sure, but that next season we could have had a points deduction and still stayed up and would be done with all the legal soul draining nonsense. That season was a free pass for any club towards the bottom.
-
Proof is out there though. We have one of the worst xgs in the league, we just have players capable of very good finishing.
-
Biggest mistake in our history tbqh

This club has such a hard time cutting loses. We paid decent money (youth wise) for him if my memory serves me correct and someone at the club doesn’t want to accept that was a bad move. I’ve never known a club carry such an ego but it’s the exact reason so may players leave for free when we get fair offers in for them. we’ve turned down cash for players, knowing they wouldn’t play and that they’d leave for free because we simply couldn’t accept getting less than what we felt entitled to. Iversen a great example. Turned down a seven figure sum because we were using the scale of what we paid for liverpools reserve keeper. -
Jamie Vardy had stayed for one more year. How much of a difference would a proper striker have made for us? Were we always doomed this season, or could one quality forward have made all the difference? im torn on this one because we generally haven’t created much and Vardy isn’t the sort to create his own chances. obviously we’d be better off but I’m curious if we have anyone that thinks promotion would have been attainable?
-
I get your point but it’s still hugely overpriced. I think they would have happily taken 10m but knew how to play us. Theres no world where we should have been getting that for Kacey either. and in the same breath I think we’d have been happy with half. Man city manage to sign the worlds best talent for not a lot more than we paid for skipp (22m total I believe). But that’s exactly why you don’t try and sign squad players from a club like spurs
-
I doubt any of the previous 3 even explained to a player why they were being dropped

Well it screams of a club who’s not been watching the player on loan and has just seen he’s scored a few goals. I don’t think Newport fans would want to sign him so not sure who’s paying for this guy -
100%! That game terrifies me
-
Hard to determine fixture difficulty at this stage of a season. Portmouth have top of the table 3 games out. Now that could be the worst fixture because they might need it to clinch a title or it could be easy because they’ve wrapped it up and are hungover. I remember our game against Brighton after promotion haha
-
Why is that cynical? That sounds very positive. Too positive for this forum, be gone with you
-
I genuinely don’t think there would be any criticism of skipp if we’d paid the 8m he’s worth and was worth in the market. Poor lad is a victim of the levy/Rudkin combo haha
