  1. Can’t win when someone has an injury reputation really. Because at the end of the day they do happen spontaneously and even if he passes a medical with flying colours sooner or later something will catch him. You know that no matter when it happens, there will be a mini meltdown on here with people asking why we signed an injury prone player. The fact he’s not played in so long, in this case is actually very good. His body has had plenty of time to recover and hopefully the time has been well spent on strengthening and conditioning. Might end up a masterstroke.
  2. if that’s even slightly true we are a bigger shambles than i thought!
  3. ahh bamford picking up some form would not be ideal
  4. what’s happened to Opoku? we had such high hopes for him this year!
  5. they will be in a similar boat to us. But if they hit champions league, they will be fine. Out story would have been all so different had we achieved it
  6. My actual concern with enzo, is that we don’t know what he’s like against opposition that is equally as good, or better than our squad. He’s very much used to always having the best players at man city and here, if we go up, all of a sudden this perfect style might not be so functional. So far , we have nothing to measure it against, 2 games against liverpool, and leeds. Other than that, we’ve not faced anyone that really challenges us in that way. (I’ve excluded southampton because they were far below our standard at the time we met them) Im desperate for us to get through the cup because a game against a lower half prem side would be eye opening one way or the other
  7. Theres never a good excuse, but when you’re that rich there’s really none. You’ve got the money for a chauffeur. Cabs are nothing for you. Just about anyone in Leicester would give you a ride home (some even to your next club) Poor from Hamza.
  8. Personally, I think last night was enzo attempting to change. Against coventry, he made negative changes too soon and they ultimately ended up costing us. Yesterday I think he was reluctant to change because he felt our best team was on the pitch. I think he could have made the changes sooner but then if we’d conceded we might not have had the right players to go at them again. I do think given how tired players were it needed the switch, but I can see what he was thinking. Arguably though, we might have seen the game out if he hadn’t made a single change. It’s hard to know
  9. I’ll be the first to hold my hands up, i’ve changed my mind again. I think we need to keep him next year. He’s just too perfect for the way we play and the more i think about it, it’s just going to be incredibly hard to find someone else who can play this role. He’s finally seeming to win all of his aerial duels and there’s simply very few players as good on the ball as him. I just question where we find a replacement who will hit the ground running. With Man City, pep is famous for being very slow to bring people into this role. Stones famously took years to be able to comfortably play the role. Gvardiol is being deemed not able to play in the centre and he was the biggest prospect in the game. As a newly promoted side, any defender with the right passing stats will have to be either young and unproven, playing in a lower league or in a lower foreign league. Anyone doing this in italy, france, spain or germany will already be on the radar of big clubs. I’m not saying we couldn’t sign a better cb, but for the role he plays…. I think that’s something we’d struggle with. Enzo loves him and at this stage, we’d be silly not to see what he could do. He could be the difference between relegation. Newly promoted teams generally need a fast start. Pick up points while the confidence is high. Integrating a new cb in that role could be a disaster.
  10. Could be shrewd signing, but at the same time, if it was next season i’d be disappointed. I think in the summer, we could conceivably sign Hamer from sheff u for a pretty low fee. He’s been good but not good enough to have really raised his transfer fee. Sensi is different because I think we all know he’s prem quality and the one question is his fitness. In many ways, sensi is less of a risk than o’hare. O’hare feels like when forest signed toffolo, someone who’s not likely to stand out in the prem. A prepare to go back down type of signing.
  11. it’s wild how southampton never seem to have a tough game. I took a look at their fixtures and their final 9 look tricky. Could definitely make for an interesting end to the season. I’m. not convinced this is going to be the cake walk we were all hoping for. We need to bounce back very well for the next 5 games
  12. JS Hamza Nelson faes doyle winks yunus. sensi alves. mcateer cannon
  13. Leaving in large numbers in a a 1st vs 2nd game at 1-0 is absolutely unreal. Are our fans really not that invested? is it just something to do every now and then. I just don’t get how you could be that nonchalant
  14. I think if you weren’t a fan of either side, you’d have watched that thinking we were comfortable. Because we were. But that’s football, if you don’t take your chances and it’s 1-0 these things can happen.
  15. I don’t think this is a pile on maresca situation. I think we set up perfectly. The one real criticism I have, is why he didn’t take mcateer off earlier as he was blowing. Personally, I would have stuck yunus out wide and kept kdh on but i’m guessing that was more to do with the injury he had
  16. blame that on the manager not the players. How is that a surrender? they took a pot shot and the balls fallen kindly to the striker. If you were a player in that game you’d feel very hard done by. Don’t let the result taint the effort that was out there
  17. perhaps we have a different take on the game, the second half was one of the best defensive displays of the season. I thought the back line were superb as was winks breaking things up and kdh driving us forward. We lacked a little bit in the final 3rd but we still looked dangerous to me.
  18. half-hearted? are you kidding me! There was so much damn effort out there. Every single defender made a big last ditch tackle! we were dead on our feet from how much we put into that… i don’t get that take at all
  19. I thought everyone was superb until the substitution, at that point we looked lost
  20. KDH has taken on maddison’s habit of flapping his arms around, blaming others, anytime he messes up a pass
  21. I have a little feeling that Yunus is going to score a screamer today!
  22. I reckon if he went to everton, he’d get bags of goals
  23. I agree with the assessments but perhaps you’re being a little unfair. The assignment was to sign players good enough to win the championship, which they are. You never know how things are going to turn out and with leeds and southampton also having big budgets we can’t dismiss that the most important job was getting players for now. I think largely they’ve hit the mark and half of them seem like players we would have been happy with even if we were still in the top flight. I think they’ve taken a forward thinking approach and you can argue they are looking at south america, because we did want Barco, if he ended up at man city. The gamble on south american talent might be too much for a club with tied up finances. Those clubs aren’t going to loan you a player. Personally I think it’s smarter to get someone a little more proven like mavididi over a gamble that might have to seem half a season to get up to speed…save the gambles for players on loan
  24. I’m not sure I get why not tapping certain markets rules out their success. I don’t care if they come from argentina, denmark or aldershot they just need to be good enough and the players we’ve bought in have been. I was initially worried when we targeted unwanted prem players but then we balanced it with a winger from france, a keeper from the danish leagues, a proven striker in the league of a key age and a wonder kid winger from portugal needing a new test. I still think casadei was the right signing and would have come good and yunus has the talent, just needs some time. They’ve done brilliantly because the odds of scouting is usually 1 decent player to 2 duds and it’s hard to call any of them a dud. Coady has been the disappointment and that’s more because he’s been kept out by others as opposed to being the wrong signing
  25. I think we rolled the dice to stay in the league and that unfortunately would have undone the hard work to keep in line with FFP. In the year we supposedly didn’t spend any money, we spent all the fofana money in on vk souttar, faes and the loan fee for tete. And picked up all their wages. It would make sense that if we returned to the prem we’d be in the same situation as that season and likely wouldn’t have much of a lot to p*ss in. I do wonder if we could hold our own even with this squad though. The recruitment has been so good that i think we could possibly survive. it wouldn’t be a great season but i think we’d potentially have enough. But that will come down to who goes up with us and who drops. (hopefully forest and everton)
