If we were able to sign a young promising striker, would you consider bringing in Wilson on a free as well? All logic would say stay well clear. And I wouldn’t go anywhere near him if he was coming in alone….but, having some guaranteed quality up top is really important. If we were to just use him off the bench ala Kevin Phillips, surely there wouldn’t be many better for the role. I have no idea what he’d be looking for financially but at 33 he can’t be too greedy

Premier League has charged LCFC with an alleged breach of PSR

So we essentially need to make sure we finish above Ipswich today for it to be a consideration whether they take the points this season… and we’ve still gone with this line up -
Worst part about this, is that it would have secured us 10m for mcateer
-
That he’s not done good enough. With the January investment, I think they should have had a stronger push for automatic, they limped through the second half of the season and the Coventry play off. Id stay well away from him

Is this a sign Carrick is joining?

Poor result?! That’s a beauty

Am I right in thinking we’ve got the charge for not submitting in time because we thought we were efl, but because of our court win… that’s not the case? Thus we should have submitted to the prem? Or are we just that incompetent and failed a rule we knew about -

Rudkins best mate and we all know who I mean -
The issue is that everyone assumes he can do it again, when the reality is that last year he had the 2nd best squad and came 4th (imo). I think burnley, Leeds and Sheffield all had one thing in common this season, they were solid at the back and didn’t concede silly goals. The most accurate comparison is with Middlesbrough who would have been comfortably in the playoffs if they didn’t gift goals every week through over playing. The club think he’s a safe bet but I really do think they are over simplifying the search and we’d be better off with at least 10 other realistic candidates.

Oh boy

We need 2 strikers surely? Last time around we had nacho, vardy, daka and cannon Daka, Evan’s, a young player like this link and then someone established. There’s a name that I didn’t want to mention as I’m worried I’ll speak it into existence… but I have a horrible sinking feeling that we might sign Daniel Jebbinson

Best outcome for everyone, the league saves face. We get a punishment for mismanagement and the world can move on. -
A lot of our fans struggled with Enzo but enzos system is actually quite attractive with the right players. Martin will be one of the least popular managers we’ve ever had as our fans are already at their limits with the club and nobody wants to pay to be sat through sideways football. Not having a striker and Martin ball is a terrifying thought
-
There’s not an ounce of sentiment from the Southampton fans. You’d be very hard pressed to find positive words from them… which for someone who got promotion is quite rare
-
For the players Martin is good for: winks ricardo vestergaarde soumare fatawu mavi nelson alves monga evans hermansen bad for: coady Justin okoli daka Skipp ndidi (possibly) bdr ayew others don’t really land either side of it. or unsure. We spent a summer undoing enzos work to revert back to it. I don’t think it’s an awful decision by the club but I’m really not looking forward to it. What I will say is that I’d be worried to be a defender at this club because Martin’s system makes you look complete horse sh*t. And considering how bad they just were… I don’t think many fans will stay calm when JJ rolls a ball to a striker on the penalty spot
-
No matter how amazing he is, you can’t afford to be paying anyone 70k in the championship… and he will absolutely get that or more at a different club. The club would almost be embarrassed to offer him 20-30k and that’s probably all we can do now.
-
For me, he’s the go to if we get the first option wrong. If we start floating by relegation and it’s already shite, he has nothing to lose. I don’t want him failing because of the how poorly run we are. if we get hit with a minus 12, well then I’m all for it mind
-
Probably going to be better than whoever we sign

The heaven deal was player pushed though from what I heard. My point was more for the ones that have been released. Richard’s is interesting as we did pay money for him but as you said, they wouldn’t have entertained it if they even rated him a little -

I think we’ve relied on big clubs cast offs far too often instead of realising that when those clubs have anyone with even championship level of ability… they don’t release them. Why? Because they are big enough to demand stupid fees even when the players aren’t good enough. When was the last time a top 6 club released someone 19 or above that actually ended up making a career? There must be some but certainly no stand outs that I know of. I think it’s the wrong approach. Richard’s, vontae-Daley and this guy have all been very underwhelming. We’ve tried that way and it’s simply not worked. These clubs know what they’re doing and the lads sticking around instead of them (clearly deemed better) will still have a low percentage make a career in the game, so the cast offs really won’t. I’m all for someone correcting me if I’m wrong here though with some examples -

Kicking this can down the road was always going to bite us. I genuinely think if we’d have just played nice we’d have a -4 this season and have been able to move on. Everything about this season was supposed to be the reset. Balance the books, clean up our act and go down in a position to start again. We’ve done the opposite with an arrogance that we can stay up and have thrown shit at the walls. Looks very silly now -
Iversen gone to Preston (out of contract)

He’s genuinely been the biggest most confusing balls up by the club in all of our time. There was no idea if we wanted him or didn’t, if he was being loaned to gain experience or be sold and he’s spent 3 years in a weird limbo with us turning down loans or bids but yet still not giving him a chance. Really no reason we turned down any deal and by the sounds of it we had plenty of offers and interest over the years. An easy 1.5m for the psr books and we just couldn’t make a decision. (Rumours we turned down offers far higher than this as well, but we could have got at least this in just about every window) What a waste of everyone’s time and his career tbqh. He will be incredibly motivated to get one over us when we play them next season and probably will likely play a blinder. Good luck to him -
Really hope the uncertainty of who will be in charge doesn’t hurt deals like this. Seems all too sensible to actually come off for us. When’s the last time the club was genuinely savy, maybe the Evan’s deal. We rarely tend to get these types of deals over the line

I wish Mav had mcateers composure and finishing

Everton have had around 10 bad windows in a row and still finished mid table 😂
