  1. I think if we offered him the job next season he would take it. It would be interesting to see what he could do with his own players, he’s the kind of manager in terms of character that we need, I’m not sure he could mount a promotion based team though? Is he just a motivator-type who comes in and gives a lift? Who knows. I’m praying whoever we get can completely overhaul this team - and Rowett would already know who needs to stay/go and the type of player we need to target to bring in. I know most of us have been frustrated with his limited tactics, but he’s already referenced that this squad was built to play a particular way, and I don’t think they’re capable of playing any other - so I think he would change it up eventually with the right profile of player being brought in.
  2. Vestergaard Riccy Winks Mavididi Fatawu All major players in his system, especially Vestergaard. Then add in Nelson (Justin/Doyle role) Skipp (Dewsbury - not as good, granted) and James (Ndidi) and you’ve got the footprint of a team he could put together. Okoli would likely play the Faes role unless we do get in another CB. You could see why it would work for a short period.
  3. Well, on paper - it isn’t (see above). You’re also forgetting James is a welcome addition and Skipp has finally started to look a better player. I’m not saying we would piss it again by any means - but he should be able to give us a lift and I don’t think it would take long - as most of the players are still here and are used to his style. 18 months isn’t that long ago.
  4. For me, it does make sense. The players loved him and his coaching apparently. Minus a decent striker, left back and a ball-playing GK, he’s pretty much got the same squad he had when we pissed it. I can see him using Nelson as a LCB and obviously Riccy moving into midfield as a converted RB.
  5. So, because he didn’t have a ‘playing career’ means he’s crap does it? Sarri, Nagelsmann, Mourinho to name a few ‘non-players’. Do some reading and research pal before you throw your toys out the pram.
  6. Personally for me - I would love for Nige to come back in and give Kingy a hand, even in a coach/advisory role til the end of the season. Come summer - get in Skubala. I didn’t know much about him until recently but he ticks every box for me, especially with devoloping young players and how his coaching style relates to ‘giving the players freedom to move about the pitch’ as opposed to strict tactics. Thats why Lincoln are doing so well, because they don’t have a ‘set’ way of playing. He allows his players to move into spaces and gives them information on how the opposition will likely set up and exploit the spaces they leave without the other team having any ideas how they will play. He’s also a Leicester lad (not sure if he supports us personally) but still has great local links.
  7. When you think he was starting in the FA cup final 😁 We played a back 3 then with Evans, Fofana and Soyucu and had Castagne as the RWB and Thomas LWB. He was surrounded by class and full of youthful energy - it’s like he’s been through so much crap at the club like us, he’s just fell away as the club has. Too many poor managers who can’t defend doesn’t help either. The one decent manager we’ve had over the last few years sent him out on loan 😂
  8. Liam Rosenior for me! Decent job at Hull, doing fairly well in France. Pay the money top and pull your finger out! Don’t think he’ll leave them though, looks destined for PL.
  9. He doesn’t fill me with great confidence. Ramsey is clearly the best player for the 10, but at least Bobby does put a shift in, he gets the ball FORWARD and he has enough experience.
  10. Get him in the 10 and stick Jordan back in the 6/8 with Winks for crying out loud!
  11. When you say ‘take the safe option’, I think that’s pretty much what most possession based teams do? We did this in abundance under Enzo, however under Marti it’s a bit of a mix between the two. What would you prefer them to do if the pass wasn’t on? I also dont agree with us being an ‘average mid-table’ team. We’ve clearly got enough quality, we’re just unsettled still and everything will take a bit of patience and support.
  12. Absolutely. The quality won the game from Abdul and Jakob. You can’t judge Marti yet until this window is shut and he’s (hopefully) got a few of his own players that we need to freshen the attack up. I was impressed with the effort of most of our players today and we did look more organised at the back. If Ricardo stays fit he’ll be huge for us.
  13. It’s only one pre season game, but you can tell already the players seem on board - which (unfortunately) is a big thing down here so it seems. The players that did well under Enzo will clearly enjoy Martí. I also think most of the fans will be on board with him too. For the first time in a long while, I’m pretty optimistic about the new season already. I was under Enzo, but with him being unproven was a gamble that paid off well. The only thing that frustrated me with Enzo was his stubbornness when things were going to pot - which I don’t believe Cif will do. We now just need to shift some deadwood and sign a bloody striker!
  14. I completely agree, but it’s not the point. Can you tell me how these clubs are able to just stay above relegation every year? I can - PSR. It’s made the gap between the Championship and Premier League too big. 2nd season in a row now all 3 promoted clubs go back down and clubs like Wolves, Palace just manage to get away with it (again).
  15. 6 seasons ago… that’s the only thing they’ve done in recent history. What else have they done in the other 5? Nothing. And that’s my point.
  16. It’s clubs like Wolves that I can’t stand. They’ve been making the numbers up in the Premier League for years. No real ambition but just good enough to stay in the league, year after year. Palace too.
  17. I think he’s referring to the players being chased by bigger clubs, much like the lad we lost to Liverpool last season who’s now starting games for them. Not the entire youth team pal. Dibbling at Southampton. Nwaneri at Arsenal.
  18. He referenced our ‘great escape’ season the other day and said that it came off because of the club and Nigel’s long term plan finally coming together. I think he thinks this idea he has is going to click and all of a sudden we’re going to be a new team!! Nigel changed the shape of the team. He also brought in an experienced CB in Huth who had a point to prove and gave the defence a whole new confidence. In my opinion, we just need to go for it now. If it means we get beat 4/5 nil then so be it. Go down with a fight. Play Jake Evans or even (dare I say it) Daka up front with Vardy!
  19. Linked with Arsenal in the summer apparently.
  20. In all seriousness I think he’s got great potential, he’s never fit though so should be great for us 😂 He’s worth the gamble though if we’re loosing Thomas.
  21. Rashford being heavily linked to West Ham. Surely Ruud could pull a few strings and get this over the line? Can play as CF or Wing.
  22. Big yes from me. If we could land him for 10m, brilliant. Got a point to prove. Did very well for Newcastle when he first went there but got injured and never fully recovered or got his spot back.
  23. Get back in Mcdonalds you clown 🤡
  24. I think the fact that Cooper has worked with him before with England, he will know his strengths as a player. I’ve always liked his work rate and ability to break up play. Cooper clearly wants players that are going to work hard. Without Wilf or Winks, we’re light in midfield quality and I can see Soumare leaving still.
  25. I don’t believe Man City are playing their best 11 today, nor United for that case. 10 years ago, maybe. But in todays day and age we have far to much analysis going on to give tactics and ideas away too soon? Surely it’s about getting those final minutes into legs that need it and maybe another few tactical ideas in the team from set pieces or as such.
