  1. Atlanta stadium is 71k capacity so even half full it would still look empty (depending on glass) the official attendance was around 22k mark but what were they expecting, even LA fans would have to travel 4hrs 15mins on a school day to watch their team, that’s like Chelsea fans travelling LHR to Paphos for a night the distances are nuts for fans to see their local teams & I can’t imagine there are 200k+ football tourist doing the rounds trying to get to as many games as they can so it will be reliant on locals and those that have taken time off work to attend. As someone mentioned previously bit ambitious to kick this off in a country that has football as it’s 4th or 5th sport 🤷‍♂️
  2. He won’t go abroad they won’t pay what we want and I’d guess he wants to stay in UK now anyway so unless a low end Prem team come in for him I’d expect him to be here come August.
  3. & his £355k per week wage packet making £200m all in for 5yrs
  4. Ooh how we differ to Brentford fans Brentford fans thanking Frank for getting them into the promise land & securing their 2 highest ever finishes in 9th & 10th position Leicester fans Rodgers is a *&^%
  5. The sheer cost will have people turning off, you see adverts to get sky for £16pm but then when you add channels you want & sports, ooh & you have to have a different HD package for sports not the general Tv with HD it jumps up by £40pm, add in a TNT subscription anther £30 and cinema you could be paying anywhere between £100-180+pm, the latter end of that being out of contract, but still if your not confident in haggling then it’s just to much, also when you factor in BB, other streaming subs etc Picking sky tv contract / channels is like picking an energy contract, there are to many and most our intertwined in that if you drop x you lose y etc
  6. £500m spent in 10 days in the premier league, when it opens again I expect it will rise over £1bn in a single window, we will see a new premier league transfer record and players will get wages of £355k per week yet Leicester struggle to spend 20m on players and pay the odd 70kpw without falling foul of psr.
  7. Looks like a Parling signing having looked at him 1st hand the past few seasons & sees a safe pair of hands. He’ll be 35 when the season starts and he’s not really an out and out 10 more a utility back who’s played 10 must of the time but just 37% of his total appearances but will bring experience back after losing so much. We then have a 34yr old Volavola who was this years 3rd back up before we hit the academy lads. Going from Pollard and what could be potential 2024/25 champions (🤞) it doesn’t shout out we are looking to kick on next season domestically & in Europe and this will be our future style giving it’ll only be a years contract, it don’t look great. Hopefully we still have an eye on a jewel in their prime who’ll be the starter but those rumours seem to have dried up Crowley or Umaga then Farrell, Anscombe even a return for Freddie Burns or his brother with the last 4 all much at the same ballpark age as O’Conner it’s looking like it might be a transitional season sadly.
  8. James O'Connor ear marked for a seasons contract at flyhalf, whilst steady & had a decent season resulting with a possible call up to face The Lions he’s not really someone to steer & kick on the new era so hopefully another younger 10 to also come in.
  9. When clubs like Brentford and Fulham have had a 10yr period like ours you can put them as a comparison otherwise it means nothing as they are doing enough to stay in the league that is all. As I said yesterday Glasner has potentially changed the horizon for Palace winning the FA cup, what is their expectations now will they be happy to sit mid table being in the premier league or as expected by Glasner to actually twist and try and kick on, if they stick he will go as will most of their higher end talent as they have tasted success which can destroy clubs like the rest of us. Mean while the likes of Liverpool can spend £200m in transfers & pay wages of £355kpw (Wirtz) without it tickling the books. This isn’t me sticking up for the club because I fully agree our transfers have been shocking but the reality is we can only spend something like £25m net and really should be limited to £45-60kpw in wages & would still sail close to PSR. I will also keep banging the Reading FC drum on how PSR in what ever guise fails ‘normal’ clubs because once in trouble you can’t dig yourself out without losing virtually everything.
  10. Some battle between Bath & Bristol, intensity from start to finish Can’t really see past Bath winning the title & will deserve it.
  11. Probably only a matter of time before he goes somewhere as it came out the other day he was holding off extending his contract until he knows how well he will be backed and where Palace want to go after the FA cup win. Welcome to our world Palace fans because now the expectation horizon has shifted for those around the club & will be pushed into twisting instead of being a steady eddie stick and just stay in the league.
  12. Yeah probably didn’t mean best but if we were to say just name our old keepers most of us would probably real off Banks, Shilton, Wallington, Keller, Flowers, Walker, & jump to Kasper, Ward, Iverson, Mads & Jacob in that order with a shout out for Peggy, Logan & maybe Fulop the rest would come but take a little longer to name & there have been 50 of the buggers since Banks
  13. Yeah every time Chopra got the ball my guts went in my mouth. Cardiff weren’t a bad side then had a few decent players
  14. Yeah he’s never mentioned when ‘best’ keepers are quoted we always think of the names
  15. I do believe it was Kermorgant’s last game for us the nugget. Nice shot of NP with his tight haircut and loose back and legs before it all went wrong for him.
  16. The 2010 squad is currently on Skysports retro game PO semi final v Cardiff 2nd leg Couple of names I’d forgotten Alex Bruce & Chris Weale
  17. The prison release thing is happening for all crimes, the other day that infamous range rover killer was let out (or announced being let out) after 27yrs. Whilst its a long time he murdered 3 people, regardless of their backgrounds & his now age, should he be free to walk around even under licence?
  18. maybe, i was really thinking about the shifting of silly money around with the Saudi's helping out the CEO owners of these named clubs as we know they will be winkle shaking in their masonic lodges
  19. Tell me about it the Saudi’s were going to pay ZZ £84m for a single season managing in their league. Money was rotting the game prior to the Saudi’s getting involved now we might as well forget it as they target those so called top sides with flakey contracts effectively paying consultancy fees & wages to raise the leagues profile without fully binding clubs, managers and players to fixed long term contracts. 😞
  20. Kinda fits in with my last comment, Mbeumo’s replacement will be signing for an established Premier league side and therefore will have the luxury of pushing premier league wages which Brentford will now offer. An example of this is 22yr old Aaron Hickey who this year signed a new contract and such was their will to keep him he is reportedly now earning 70k pw up from 35k
  21. that as maybe but timing of contracts & club position & situations all have a bearing on wages, at the time of Mbeumo joining Brentford 2019 he was an unknown & they were in the Championship, him renewing his contract in the 2022 season with Brentford would have seen a wages increase to the 45k for his part in getting them promoted & staying there, that was a 4yr deal. So given their success of remaining in a mid-table position & his rise as a top player it was always going to be this next contract (2026) that will see his wages explode even if he stayed with Brentford
  22. & the reason he will leave them for Man U
  23. I have a feeling this summer transfer window will be a new record for money spent looking at rumours of players wanted. Liverpool will for a start spend north of £150m on just 2 players alone with Arsenal / Man C also looking to strengthen / rebuild. I can also see the newly promoted and the other 8 also runs spending more than we’d normally see. The funny thing is the league are concerned about the gap between the divisions with the last 2 seasons seeing all 3 promoted sides relegated without so much as a whimper yet they do nothing to level anything. They will overlook Chelsea’s internal selling of assets, the fact that Man U will receive £100m+ for a soon to be 31yr old player which is twice his MV, Liverpool receiving £10m for a player with days left on his contract etc etc but will fight tooth and nail against those clubs that can’t bridge the gap, a gap that they are saying they are concerned about and hit them so hard it widens said gap. I know a player will go for what a club is willing to spend for them but isn’t there also meant to be a fair market rate, who else in world football spend over £50m let alone £100m on Bruno F, why is a club so big spending £10m on a player they won’t need to help them get out the group stages of the world club cup and could just walk in from 30th June and probably again not really needed for them to get to a final looking at all the other clubs, without some backhanded deal done between owners. I really wished the breakaway league came about, anyone not able to guess who the top 6/7 will be in the 2025/26 season yet?
  24. I guess we’d need to understand trigger’s & reactions. Those waking up screaming choking out their partners don’t seem to know what they are doing and certainly don’t stop to ask for help until they come round & episode passes. Debs comment brings a scenario of what if he was in a convoy / lone vehicle that was attacked & surrounded at some point in his career, this could have been a fight or flight trigger 🤷‍♂️ Obviously all speculation
