It’s true that it’s not as exciting as 2014 or 2016, but it’s definitely worth celebrating. To get close to 100 points with any team, at any time and in any division is not something to ever be taken for granted: Especially given our uncertain, immediate, future. Then again I’ve lived through the barren years of Pleat and Levein. Also the disasters of Taylor and Holloway. That’s probably enough to keep anyone humble.

I see this narrative a lot and I respectfully disagree. We mistake “most expensively assembled” with “most talented”. Scratch away at the surface and the squad didn’t have much depth. That’s why Fatawu, Mavididi, KDH, Winks and Ndidi were shoe ins for most games even when demonstrably short of fitness and form. Arguably Leeds had much more depth in forward positions and could make game changing substitutions. We had depth in defence, but no real replacement for Vestergaard in Enzo’s style. We also only really have two full backs, although this wasn’t as exposed in a system where these are inverted. A good squad - no doubt. Most talented ever? I’m not even so sure it was that much better than the resources Leeds and Southampton could call upon. I think we should give EM some credit for using it better

I think the play-offs are superb matches for incident and drama. I really enjoy watching them. The only caveat being - that we aren’t in them!!!

What Have You Enjoyed Most About This Season?
Jobyfox replied to StanSP's topic in Leicester City Forum
To be honest in many respects the Championship is a much better league than the Premier League. More competitive games and less self serving. If it wasn't for the vast difference in revenue and the necessity of being in the PL I wouldn't be in such a rush to leave In answer to your question though: what you've put. If I highlighted players it would be Vardy's swansong, the emergence and enthusiasm of Fatawu, a local lad ripping it up in KDH and the Jannik redemption curve. Oh .... and finding a goalkeeper that doesn't make you hide behind the sofa -
Be careful! This is an irony free zone!!

To summarise. We've gone from wanting Coventry to do us a favour to wanting them to get stuffed by Ipswich? That's ok. In many ways I'm much more comfortable with the latter

I think someone missed the joke

So it's not something that should be celebrated?
-
Half way through half time now
-
Well that would be a bit boring. Much more interesting to play 23 different teams

“Small amount and prey” Who are our prey in this regard?

Yes, let’s close the thread because you don’t care anymore …. ….. or alternatively we could just wait until after the last round of fixtures

Recent results kind of reinforce that you never know what you’re going to get in the run-in: Leicester 5 - 0 Saints QPR 4 - 0 Leeds and today Sheff Wednesday 3 - 0 West Brom Cardiff 0 - Boro 4 I wouldn’t be surprised if Blackburn beat us in the last game if they don’t secure safety today
-
Yes - I think that was one occasion my phone got chucked across the room and I realised I was probably getting too invested in it all

I always think that you can expect odd results in the run in (last ten games). Everyone is playing for something without compromise. Especially in the Championship where the gap in ability across the division isn’t as great as the Premier League. We entered this period in poor form and got caught up in the madness. I think we saw then that we might need some flexibility in our approach. We didn’t see it (innovative subs, different formations, last ditch changes etc.) when we needed to rescue games. I think it’s this, more than “bottle” that was our shortcoming during this period.

I get too emotionally invested in games sometimes so it was tough watching the results of four teams. Especially when the likes of Ipswich and Leeds seemed to narrowly win and score late winners. It’s so nice to sit with my feet up this weekend knowing that we’ve done it and I can just enjoy the football.

Preston Away - Monday 29th April - Pre Match
Jobyfox replied to urban.spaceman's topic in Leicester City Forum
Well that’s not particularly prophetic when you consider that we’ve led for almost the whole season. With 14 games to go we were 12 points ahead of second and 14 ahead of third. The reason we’re still talking about this now is precisely because we’ve had a pretty good try at losing it ourselves. Largely because teams similar and arguably worse, than Preston and Blackburn presented too much difficulty for us. We need to continue to fight for every point and avoid any more mishaps -

One thing is for sure is that I’ve well and truly given up trying to predict results for LCFC. After the Millwall and Plymouth debacles I had zero confidence of 6 points from West Brom and Southampton. Let alone a 5-0 thrashing in the latter. I’ve no idea whether to expect a horrible performance and defeat or a glorious victory and promotion. -
I can’t see us winning tonight as it just doesn’t feel like a Leicester thing to do. More pertinently it doesn’t feel like a “this season” thing to do. It just feels like we’re going to end up with fans of 3 or 4 clubs all s***ing themselves watching the last round of matches. We’ve been building up to it ever since we chucked our lead away going into the last ten games
-
I think that’s true. They obviously have their qualities, but lots of pointless possession, defensively suspect at times and fail to take their chances when dominant. All sounds very familiar and it might just be a case of who’s on it on the day
-
Needed a win from anywhere. Don’t care how it was achieved at this stage

FFS … get Albrighton on!!

At all levels of the game you see the better sides beating the poorer sides because of one moment of quality in the game. Quite often the less skilled side can match the endeavour and determination, but are just undone in the final third. My problem is that I go into games thinking that the one moment is far more likely to be provided by the opposition at the moment. Bristol, Millwall …. Plymouth? Then our style dictates that we find it incredibly difficult to change pace or play with any urgency. We only managed it in injury time against Millwall. I can’t see beyond a 1-0 to the home side. The hope is that we somehow score first and then hold on against their superior desire and energy. Of course by putting this in print I’m hoping the gods of fate make me eat my words…

I feel sure I’ve read that same sentiment elsewhere

April was always the month that was going to test Ipswich. If they come through it with enough to go up you’d have to commend them. I was disappointed with the way they beat Southampton so the Norwich result was a major plus for us and Leeds. One win is still better than two draws so those extra 2 points against the Saints could still prove important. But they appear to have the most difficult run in on paper.
