  1. That is a massive insult to the fungal population.
  2. Or a horrible fungus or virus freshly removed from permafrost that we melted. Take your pick. We're the biggest reality TV hit in twelve different colonised systems - they'll want to keep us rolling.
  3. One of those situations where science is solving a problem that science itself - along with the human propensity for general short-sightedness - created. Not a fantastic way to go about things but considering the alternatives I think it's the least worst option.
  4. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-66923930 Numbers of the UK's most precious animals and plants are still falling, as a countrywide nature-loss crisis continues. Loss of nature is outpacing investment and effort to tackle it, conservation organisations say. Their State of the Nature report found 16% of 10,000 mammals, plants, insects, birds and amphibians assessed were threatened. And this loss of biodiversity isn't just limited to the UK, either.
  5. Rather insane match between Nepal and Mongolia at the Asian Games. Nepal make 314 off their 20 overs, with one of their players making a hundred off 34 balls and another making a fifty off 9(!) balls (the fastest fifty theoretically possible). Then they bowl out Mongolia for 41 and win by 273 runs. Records broken all over the place.
  6. Oh yeah, I forgot it was a Christmas election last time round.
  7. Well, I guess we'll find out if such "legitimate concerns" regarding the matter will be enough for people to vote a particular way. Right now polling suggests not, but there's a long way between now and May 2024.
  8. Fair to say. As per above though, here's hoping there aren't enough to be statistically significant.
  9. Quite. So not brilliant for a few reasons tbh.
  10. ...and all contributing to an overall situation where sooner rather than later hundreds of millions of people (at the least) will die , suffer and/or be displaced. Winning indeed.
  11. And now it seems like the backlash has had an effect, GB News have suspended him.
  12. Looking at the comments on that thread, even Jayda Fransen thinks Fox went too far. How far have you gone when you get called out by someone like her for being a bit much?
  13. If I were him, I'd have a face like thunder at the hypocrisy more than anything, given that Gervais is at least as egotistical and lacking in self awareness as the Hollywood luvvies he ripped the piss out of IMO.
  14. Unfortunately, the money from satisfying the confirmation bias of racists, misogynists and those ignorant of science critical to the future is rather good. And he sees the bottom line and goes with it.
  15. ... is there really a statistically significant proportion of people in the middle ground that display such prejudice and contempt for the future of human civilisation? Not good if that's true tbh.
  16. Quite right. And building (and paying) for that future is important in more ways than one.
  17. Just a slightly higherbrow reimagining of the "town full of *****" chant that sadly has been sometimes heard at the KP, I think. The intent and contemptuous mindset behind both is the same.
  18. 262 off 29 now. Tremendous stuff, really.
  19. Couldn't quite believe that bit when I watched the footage tbh.
  20. I really wish I was better at thinking up puns because I'm sure there are some zingers for this one.
  21. As would any sane human being even remotely interested in human civilisation remaining somewhat as it is in terms of comfort. Political affiliation really shouldn't come into it.
  22. Which of course is a problematic and perhaps even fatal lack of foresight which should in no way be public policy in the UK or anywhere in the world, just to be clear.
  23. Given how far behind they are I think it would take something pretty major to shift things enough even for a hung parliament.
  24. Yeah, someone made the point that Wales have played Aus in all but 2(?) of all the RWC's. Fair point on the draw tbh, I do still think England are going to be lucky not to have to play a "marquee" side (France, Ireland, Saffers, NZ) before the semifinal, but that's the way things roll sometimes, I guess, and I'm not complaining. Hoping for an all-NH final.
  25. Remarkable that England are (probably) going to make a World Cup semifinal again with the form they have tbh (really can't see Fiji beating them again). Shows how ridiculous it was to have the seeding three years in advance. Ireland-France all NH final perhaps?
