I know we have limited options but surely you just hook McAteer now. He was awful against West Ham and that's continued here.
-
McAteer is sooooo crap
-
This ref is astonishingly bad
-
We often joke about players who look they can't control a football but never seen anything like McAteer. Every time he gets it, take a second to get it under control.
-
Why is there nobody at the back post on attacking set pieces. That's twice we've massively put ourselves under pressure when the delivery is over hit
-
Sounds like an ingredient in some kind of ancient ritual

That second free kick is an absolute joke. He's might have tangled Lamptey's leg but that's because he was in front of him. Dreadful from Ayew in the first place

Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official

Even if true, could be a masterstroke in the long run. After all, football is almost entirely based on confidence and momentum so not having a negative start could make a huge difference in the long run. -
I can imagine that he will be an absolutely fantastic coach, as in elite level. Not sure I can picture him as a manager if that's the route he goes down
-
Definitely isn't. He's more of a cult her... Nope, can't finish it. Absolute legend and he is synonymous with this club in a way very few others are.
-
Hope we recall Braybrooke as soon as possible. Waste of time being there
-
I think he looks like he has the attributes but his goalscoring record is really poor aside from last year, and that's in a league that is considerably weaker than the Championship. If he was £5m then worth a punt, but for £20m+, no way in our financial situation. Again with Berg, if he was a few million it's worth a shot but in modern football, you have to question any player who plays top flight football and hasn't made the transition to a top 5 league by the age of 27. We either go for young players with potential or some short termish deals for players with actual proven quality at the highest level (i.e. not the Ayew's or BDR's who have never been great at this level, but players a step above)
-
1 goal in 18 games for Fotis this season. Think he needed to go whilst his stock and confidence was high. Doubt Berg is good enough. To be 27 and still playing in Norway, after a failed stint in France hardly snacks of a player who's up to PL standards. Think people living 4/5 years in the past with that one.
-
Not in the slightest. In fact, it would be the one managerial change of another club where you would feel you can make a reasonable judgement on it. They are where they are because of him. Watched a few minutes of the game and their approach is night and day to what we've been doing. The money spent is clearly about taking a punt on players that will at worst be very good in the championship (Delap, Clarke, Greaves, Hutchinson etc), but some of them have already shown they're good at this level. He's basically taken a league 1 standard team and made them a PL team.
-
Fair enough to some of those Wolves players for fronting up. Couldn't imagine our team that went down doing that.
-
Every time I watch Newcastle, when he's actually playing, he's scoring or causing problems. Think Howe has tried to get him and Gordon into the same team but struggled.
-
Always been a fan but as time has gone on, that's really dwindled. Certainly not getting my hopes up but if nothing else, the work rate was phenomenal and makes such a difference to bring some pace on
-
Against Spurs he was absolutely brilliant, much better than last night. But it's pretty clear that no Faes made a difference, and the shift in the second half so he had more protection and options with the ball
-
Quality block when they hit the post. The one time Bowen had a chance to run at him, he just dangled a leg, so it's clear he's never going to be able to cope with that. But, if we can be fairly compact, he can do a good job for us at the moment. Way more reliable than Faes which is saying something considering JV's performances prior to last season were as out of depth as somebody could be at this level.
-
Probably have the opposite effect since he's spent his whole time here behind another one of the greats. Under and behind, sounds painful
-
He's just not up to the pace at this level. He doesn't have the time he needs to make the right decisions which is a shame because his game is based on finding decent positions (which he's good at). Always want to see an academy player succeed but he was pretty awful today. Wasted so many good opportunities for us to create something. Credit for the assist though (although there's an argument that the pass wasn't quite right if Bilal had to stretch for it). I know he played a little at wingback/fullback so wonder whether that's his route to success?
-
Absolute night and day when he got some support. Made a couple of fantastic blocks/interceptions too. Still a million miles away from the player he could be, but hopefully that protection is there more often and no doubt things will improve for us.
-
Yeah because he's barely had a game. Miles better than anything Faes would serve up. Not a long term solution but some of the people saying this is our worst signing ever are beyond dramatic.
-
Think some of the praise is a bit OTT as it's so chaotic when he plays, and you can't be giving up 30 shots on goal. But did some really good things and the effort is definitely there. Overall a good performance.
-
Na, he's actually one of the few decent pundits... Normally.
