Yep, another team of big athletic lumps who give it best effort all game
-
Completely agree. We have too many players who think that as they have better skills and tricks than the opposition, our lot don’t need to work hard and still do the basics correctly for the whole game. Those games we’ve lost points in when we had “ the better team on paper” I’ve said each time the opponents were simply bigger, physical , determined and hard working athletes.
-
Oh, I get the impression there are many! The game is dying/dead- it’ll never get the old buzz back.
-
That’s a dreadful and depressing stat for second half isn’t lt. I turned off as they scored their third; calmed down and watched again for the last 15 hoping we might have scored one back and were pushing for a draw but it’s so weak and slow. Why doesn’t somebody grab the game and just have a bloody good go. Why are Mavs and Abdul so greedy when we want them to lift their heads up and look for a progressive simple pass.
-
He was everywhere and very good tonight
-
That’s correct to an a degree, but the second half collapse to Soton under Andy showed no fight or character. I believe if we had won that 3-1 we’d have gained a lot of confidence and momentum.
-
We can all see this and shudder when he makes errors, but successive managers and coaches clearly believe he is good enough for certain situations. Who is right? Us or them?
-
I think the ref was right on their penalties claims. Throughout the game he was letting most body barge type challenges go - eg their first half claim. As to the final Hamza collision, look where the ref is . From his line of vision it’s understandable he would see that contact as 2 players colliding accidentally. He had no VAR or lino on that side. So he made the right decision. The nonsense at the end by them surrounding him should be heavily punished. Stop this mardy behaviour and bad examples to the kids. The security escort off pitch was a joke and not needed- Ipswich fans are not going to storm the pitch!!
-
If your equally wild speculation is correct for those reasons , that means he is mardy and arrogant! A true sportsman with the right attitude still always tries his/her hardest despite the issues you quote. I certainly did back in the day when I played for different amateur clubs around the city and county- and I played for some crap teams! He did have a good game today, and tried for the 90 minutes.

I know exactly what you mean. It’s the sort of press you do in mid week training session with your team/ mates to show you’re willing, also to improve your own fitness but when you get near your mate you don go in 100% because of risk of injury to him or yourself. -
Aren’t they!
-
Goodness me! Just thinking about Scholes’ control, passing , tenacity energy and shooting ; similar with Beckham’s plus just the explosive energy of his running which would lift any team mate; and being fortunate enough to see Kante for us at Norwich away and being gobsmacked to this day to remember he was everywhere and could take the ball off the opposition with ease, I believe hand on heart that any of those would do much better even with our squad and inspire them more than Winks!
-
We’ll have to disagree - he was poor 2nd half. Good and influential first half, good at Stoke and Boro. For an ex England and Spurs midfielder at his footballing peak ( which I think is still seen at 28?) he couldn’t read what was going on , couldn’t do anything about it, couldn’t talk to Skipp or team mates, or tell the bench and was skinned at least once as I remember by their cracking midfielder. At 1-0 and 2-0 reverted to his usual safe passing, strolling around , with no sprints or runs to break their lines. I remember 1 corner second half caused a bit of rare worry for their keeper, but the next corner didn’t beat the first man. Just not consistent enough.
-
They signed him from Brentford in January on a 3 year deal/ quite a scoop.
-
I think you’re right about a different approach. I thought from how we started yesterday we would ride on new found confidence but slowly Norwich took control. I heard a comment on the comms that recently Norwich were averaging 2 goals per game conceded, so why didn’t we have a go at them second half? I can’t remember a clear chance apart from the Daka tackle on their keeper. No urgency or spark going forward and it was like Marti again.
-
Yes, he is some player on that showing and no wonder they’re on such a good run. Big, strong, skilful and determined. Ha ha, our comms team were surprised he was subbed and relieved!
-
So you agree Winks was poor and ineffective second half ( when we were up against it and needed to match their energy and fight). I agree Skipp was a major issue yesterday, and should have been subbed early second half. Do you think it’s a stamina issue for both of them (and some others)?
-
There were dreadful and pointless, but Winks shared the passes, and didn’t anyone just tell Skipp “turn”!
-
I can’t understand him. He put in some real effort at Stoke and Middlesbrough, had some nice moments yesterday in the first half but then second half basically disappeared- where did his fight and desire to make something happen go? He goes into a shell and plays within himself. I’m still thinking it’s lack of stamina and real grit to succeed.

With the ball at his feet you can tell he is class, but at the moment looks slow and unfit -
But the experts today were saying pre game what a strong bench we had! i don’t get what’s happening- from the 2 scrapping away games to today’s passive same old again. Baffling .
-
Looked classy and composed first half, but back to ineffective second half. (Skipp off all game). Is it a stamina thing ?
-
I see what you mean about Tuesday. Could be why he looked so off it today. Yes, very frustrating, and today Winks from looking very accomplished and in control first half, went absent with Skipp 2nd half- so slow in build up play and too many silly little passes that achieve nothing. I can’t remember Norwich doing many of them, but they did the simple pass and move all game.
-
I was fairly happy with the first half , apart from them having a lot of possession, but can’t understand what happened to us 2nd half and why subs weren’t made earlier- all the commentators saying what a strong bench we had. Did we even have a clear chance second half, apart from the Daka tumble with their keeper, which the luckless Daka couldn’t work out where the ball was!
