People downplaying this, what do you get from it? Ignoring the local bragging rights (huge for anyone based in the West/South of the county), tomorrow could really set the tone for the season ffs. Lose it and the feeling in the camp and more importantly the fans will change dramatically. Things are starting to improve on that front but it will look very different if we lose to our biggest rivals in the league at home and sink down to upper mid table. Win it and we're right in the pack after 15% of the season gone and wind in our sails after a derby win, the whole thing galvanises. It's huge ffs.

Cannon was never going to make it here, and his stats for Sheff United back that up completely. Ayew is crap but Cannon's return in that side last season would have been even more pitiful.

Got mates on both sides of this derby, hope Pompey win on balance. They've dragged themselves back from the wilderness and their a better supported club than Southampton from my experience.

Realistically at the point of getting that red card the goalposts shift considerably. It's not a good point out of context but also fighting back from a goal down away from home with 10 men is decent regardless of the relative position of the two teams. Will have to be a lot lot better against Cov though.
