Ipswich and Southampton are so similar to us in the sense that it's so easy to get in on goal. Not a single defender putting their body on the line or rushing to close attackers down. It feels like only fans understand the severity of the situation. Players don't really seem to care as much as generations gone by.

I decided to avoid the game all together and played golf instead! I was following on BBC live text and this forum. What really struck me was the forum talking about how bad Soumare was but the live text on BBC were singing his praises. Especially in the first half. I have watched MOTD and it doesn't really give any sort of view of how we played. The one key thing was seeing the goal.....in days gone by we would have had the likes of Huth and Morgan literally throwing their bodies on the line to block shots and genuinely loving defending with their backs against the wall. Fast forward a few years and we have Wout Faes.....who is also undroppable. Mental.

Losing is one thing. The gulf in class and lack of quality at this level is understandable given the awful investment in the team. BUT the lack of fight and visible effort is not acceptable. When a midfielder or winger would turn back and pass it backwards he was visibly agitated. Clearly the team has a huge disconnect to what he's asking them to do.
