Ofsside Positioning? If this was issued by the people enforing the rules I am not very confident they will be enforced accurately!
-
Does this really make sense? The manager would be paying money that he had earned and been taxed on and would then receive a signing on bonus that would be taxed. If the LCFC paid Wednesday then it would be a tax deductible business cost wouldn't it? I am not an expert so probably wrong.

Am I being too pessimistic for the new season?

I suspect we will have to sell before we buy. We have too many very average players on too much money. -
I thought the main selling point for Rohl was that he had done an amazing job with cr*p players

I don't understand why people seem to think Southampton are going to do well. They were close to breaking Derby's points record at one point and we finished well above them even after RvN's losing streak. They have hired a manager who might do well, but might not, and have brought in a striker from Bundesliega 2.

Depends on what happens with the manager and transfers in/out. Currently, compared to when we won the Championship las time: - Goalkeepers: better, just because Ward has left. Hermansen will probably leave, but Stolarcyk is good enough, so we will need 2 back ups. Fullbacks: same as last time, but 2 years older, plus we have Coulibaly, but no idea how good he is. Centre Back: same as last time, but Nelson is back from his loan spell and Oxford fans think he will play for England! Plus Okoli Midfield: same as last time except we have BEK instead of KDH. Hopefully get rid of some of the deadwood, keep BEK and add someone who actually runs. Wingers: same starters as before, but Alves has gained experience and Monga and Evans should get more minutes. Striker: the GOAT is gome, but at least we still have Ayew and Daka! Overall, no reason to be too pessimistic, but certainly reason to be concerned about who will come in. -
I hope OHL are playinng in white!

When you talk about squad depth you should be looking at what you have to back up the first 11, so in your example:- Potential XI with departures Stolarczyk Justin Nelson Okoli Thomas Skipp Winks Fatawu Ayew Mavididi Daka Potential Second XI with departures New Keeper Coulibaly Vestergaard Coady Pereira Ndidi Choudhary McAteer Alves Monga Ayew/Evans/New Striker We have bodies to cover each position, but we definitely need more quality and should get rid of players who apparently don't want to be here

Easy choice, I would rather be deaf so I can't hear the wife nag!
-
Before he joined us I would be over the moon, now I would be devastated.
-
That all seems suprisingly close? Nine points separating 3-8 and 4 separating 18-24.

Shouldn't this thread be locked now the season is over and we have returned our Premier League share?

It might be a sign of impending mental illness, but I am mildly optimistic about next season! -
Souttar out til end of year.
-
Thing is though, they will use the money to sign some good young players who will keep them in the PL and be sold for a profit in a couple of years. We used to be run like that!
-
I wonder if they are waiting until they are no longer a Premier League club (6th June?) or until the start of next years accounts (1st July), but can't tell RvN that as it would count as constructive dismissal and be effective immendiately.
-
Tell me who was the worst, then I'll know who we are bringing in to replace him!
-
Playing in a less intense league may help with his fitness issues, may be a good choice for him. If he chooses this I would wish him well.
-
Bald foreign bloke with a beard who used to work with Pep? Get him in!
-
Oh no, we may have missed out.
-
I thought the transfer window wasn't open yet, or is it just that players can't be registerred yet?

I thought we were blaming Cooper for this? -
Does anyone think Brian Barry-Murphy might be in consideration? Has experience with Rochdale and former coach of Manchester City u21, just like Maresca. Just read that he is being linked with Cardiff.
-
Maybe this is what we are waiting for, when do we actually become a championship club?
-
Assuming we sell Hermansen and get rid of the players who don't seem to wanto be here (Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen, Ndidi and Winks) and hopefully convincing BEK to stay for another season then we would have the situation below. I have not included Golding and Coulibaly since they have only had a few minutes in the first team or any of the players that haven't had much game time on loan, e.g. Braybrooke. That leaves us needing 2 goalkeepers, 1 left back and 2 centre midfielder. Of course, it's worse than that as we will probably lose BEK, Souttar won't be ready for the start of the season, Pereira is injury prone and there is no way would could compete if Ayew and Daka are our two senior strikers, so we also need another CB, RB, AM and 1 or 2 strikers. GK Stolarcyk ??? ??? RB Justin Pereira CB Nelson Coady CB Okoli Souttar LB Thomas ??? CM Skipp Choudhary CM ??? ??? RW Fatawu McAteer AM El Khanouss Monga LW Mavididi Alves ST Ayew Daka Evans Players to bring in: - GK - Angus Gunn and/or Freddie Woodman, both free agents RB - Kyle Walker-Peters, out of contract and we love a Southampton defender! LB - Harry Tofolo, free CB - Harry Darling, free and RM, our future manaager knows him CM - Hayden Hackney - Might be out of our league, but might have a chance if no PL teams come in for him. He has captained M'boro, so should have good attitude, plus it would weaken an opponent CM - Matt Grimes - Decent stats, not expensive, former Swansea when RM was there. AM - Finn Azaz - If we take Hackney we might as well have Azaz as well! ST - Mihailo Ivanović - 12 goals for Milwall, he must be good. ST - Josh Sargent, again will probably go to PL, but we might as well ask!
