  1. It was a bloke with a metal detector. I saw him on Western Park last week.
  2. Nanu nanu
  3. Deserves its own thread. So, are they very tasty? ?
  4. Gordan Strachan, Kenny sansom, Trevor Francis
  5. I received the pink one a couple of weeks back. As others have said, the material for the back panel on the original is different, the one I got has the same material all over. But it looks good. BTW I saw a few of last years grey shirts in the shop on Cheapside, but only in the larger sizes.
  6. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology.
  7. I've no knowledge of the actual details of his contract but surely it was (in Premier league football terms) on low(er) wages. He had no negotiating power due to all his injuries. The club's interest was to look after him and keep high morale in the squad, maintaining that strong family bond that exists. Most likely supported by Shakespeare who was manager at the time. I just can't see our owners being naive enough to stick him on a long contract with unsustainable wages.
  8. Red was our third colour for most of the 70s and 80s, until gold was introduced into the club badge. Personally I got tired of the yellow/gold away shirt from the 90s onwards.
  9. It's still available on DH Gate, I just ordered one!
  10. It's not so many years ago he was first choice for England. In midfield. IN MIDFIELD!! I couldn't understand at the time, a shocking midfield, surely we had someone better? Dark, dark days.
  11. Very positive performance for a 19 yr old. I'd say he definitely needs to go on loan next season to get first team football.
  12. Didn't it start because it was rumoured Pearson didn't get on with him? Which meant the Pearson worshippers* took an immediate dislike? *A Druid sect, the Nigels. You can recognise them every midsummer staring at the sun in their white trainers.
  13. Even twats have family.
  14. Hopefully so. Undoubtedly our new training facilities will be outstanding. But in the case of this kid, would he really be served better by leaving Ajax of all teams, where there's a world class academy and greater opportunities of first team and European football, particularly to a premier league team with less opportunities?
  15. You're right, it's not an anthem, but I don't think it has to be. There's room for different types of songs. Incidentally the Peter Crebbin Cool Swing Band played a swinging version of WYS yesterday on the Western Park Bandstand. I couldn't help but go a bit "Louis Armstrong" singing along, but I digress, that could've just been the lager. I agree about LSF, that vocal hook really does sound like it was written for the terraces. That would work better pre match in my opinion.
  16. I'm sorry but I'm not a fan of the "quo". It was definitely played at Wembley though, I remember Liveaid! ?
  17. He's the wonder kid of the Ajax academy and at 16 is already looking for a new challenge! Quick, send Beaglehole over to entice him with his grand vision of playing 2 up front next season. Two big target men flicking on high balls for the wonder kid to run on to.
  18. I actually think it would be better played after the final whistle. A lot of European teams seem to play old or traditional songs after their games have finished, which seems to work well. I think it it would fit well whilst we applaud the players or wait miserably to stumble down to the concourse and off home, whether we win or lose, we'll keep on smiling.
  19. Who do you think you are, Tilesman?
  20. I had the exact same thought!
  21. History shows that the clap and jazz go hand in hand.
  22. I agree, and Southgate hasn't picked Maddison despite his decent form this season. I wonder if Southgate is looking longer term and has selected Maddison in the U21s so that he gets experience of a summer international tournament as he's not actually had a great deal of international experience. That might prove fruitful when he's selected in the squad for the Euro Finals next summer! Either that or Southgate just cocked it up. At least it's highlighted that the midfield needs a much better selection. Winks, Foden, Maddison, Rice all offer that.
