The amount of coverage that you get up here is the main reason we hate you so much. If you imagine the coverage that all the top 6 teams get, add it together, times it by about 20... thats what it's like. That is why we don't want you to be successful because it is litteraly in every form of media, non stop. Not to mention all those pundits that become unbearable when their team is doing well? They all support the same team in this case.

Thanks for the reply guys. There was never any discussion about where he would play. It's not really that type of team. It is more the team that players go to to get used to a team before moving on. The kind of club where a bunch of them only go to train but dont want to play games and that's welcomed. (That's why when they get a good player that they can add to their core group and chop and change around them, they jump on it) When he joined, they moved him around positions in training to find a good fit, they settled at RB but another kid joined who was just as good at RB but not as good at CB so they moved him there and he really took to it. I've spoken to the coaches about it in an informal, passing convo type of way and made it known that he was really disappointed about not playing GK but it was kind of laughed off in a joking "yeah that's not happening" kind of way, but also not disrespectful. The worst part of it is that I agree with the coaches. He is by far their best option at GK but he is a better CB than he is a GK so can add more there. But that's where he wants to play...

Looking for a bit of advice on how to approach a subject with my lads coaches and since there are a few youth coaches in here... My 11 year old joined a team a few months ago and is loving it. They aren't a very serious team. More of a "let the lads play and have fun" kinda group and I have no problem with that, it's perfect for my boy even though they get hammered every weekend. Since joining. The coaches have made no secret of the fact that they love him. He plays every single game and is the only player in the team who hasn't ever been subbed at any point in the 5/6 games he's played. They've said directly that they will play him every possible minute as they dont have anyone near his level in his position (CB). The problem is, he doesn't want to play CB. Even though he is made for it. He wants to play GK. That is the whole reason he signed up and they know he wants to play GK but have said outright that it would be a waste and the team are much better with him outfield. I find this a bit of a contradiction as like I said, they are all about the kids enjoyment over being a good team so to deny him that for the sake of being a better team isn't sitting right. It's not helped by the fact that the current GK (a good freind of my son) is hilariously bad. Costs them 4/5 goals per game so for him to look at this and not be considered isn't coming across as fair to him but they are already making plans of who to pair him at CB with next year when they go to 11 aside. How do I approach this with them? I get on well with them. Spend most games chatting away to them, help out putting up goals etc, how do I make my point without being THAT parent because he will eventually quit or look for another team and I don't want either of those.

Could a move from DOF to technical director mean more of a say for the manager on recruitment and such?

I think so. He's at least tried to change (most) things that haven't been working. He's dropped Soumare, Skipp, Daka, Faes, Choudhury etc, at various points and in the game the other night, he changed shape from a system that just wasn't it. None of it has worked and that's why I still think he should probably go but I will give him credit for changing things up, it's more than what can be said for our last handful of managers.

Absolutely terrible in an attacking sense but at least we look a bit more stable defensively. We have players within sight of their wide players.

My biggest criticism of Marti was that he was continually persisting with the same system. At least hes trying something else. Whether it works or not, is yet to be seen.

You're right about the players but that doesn't change the fact that the system he persists with every week isn't working and he isn't addressing it. Every game, we lose a goal because their LWer has miles of room because our RB inverts and doesn't get back quickly enough. EVERY.SINGLE.GAME! Our players being crap isn't stopping him from doing something to fix what is a glaring hole in his formation. And that is just one example of it not working.

When their wide players get the ball, it would be lovely for our FB's to be in at least a quarter of a mile of them. It's been the same all season. This inverted crap isn't working.

If Marti WAS to get, I could potentially see Derek McInnes being approached.

My biggest problem with Marti isn't his team selection, although, it IS a close second. My biggest problem is that his system isn't working and he doesn't seem to be addressing the glaring issues that it has. Look at last night. Their wingers, particularly that Miller lad on their left kept getting the ball and Hamza or Thomas were no where near them. Now as bad as I think those two are, that wasn't on them. That was a tactical decision to have them invert, leaving the wingers with space. So when they get the ball, the FB has to react and if he doesn't do it on time, the ball goes into the box and exposes our CB's. And this isn't an isolated case, this has been happening all season. Another example is in attack. Our FBs invert, allowing their two wide players to double up on our wingers. This is asking too much of them so they have to pass is backwards into our midfield who have a striker in front of them that doesn't score so they have no option but to go to the wingers again. And if they do manage to get to the byline or make the pass to the underlapping player, they pass it into the box for a striker who doesn't score goals. We are seeing this again and again and nothing is being done about it.

Two words.... Russell. Martin. ....and dont think we wouldn't.

You know what terrifies me about the prospect of Marti going? Russell Martin. And you just know that we would.
