Well, potentially we were thinking, if we were gonna lose him we should try and ensure it happens by a certain date to give us time to replace him so we leaked that his releas clause ended 2 weeks before deadline day. Purely speculation of course.

TBF though, Percy also named Newcastle as being interested and thats looking more and more like a tactic to get the Jacob Ramsey move done. Percy passes on what he hears but what he hears may sometimes have alterior motives behind it from the person he heard it from.

If Marti had any intention of playing Woyo at all this season, he would have featured more in pre season. I mean what did he get? 5 minutes of playing time combined? I don't know what the situation is but he's certainly not in the plans. ....and Joseph didn't get a squad number so I'm not sure he is either.

The thing that bothers me is not if Bilal goes. If his clause is met and he wants to go, there is nothing we can do. It's more that we SHOULD already have a few options to replace him in mind. We should have put the feelers out to see what they would cost and what they would want just in case it happens but we all know, thats not gonna be the case.

And if we keep him and still don't get promoted?

We can't keep letting players walk away for free.

Oh, I am under no illusion that it will all be used, and nor should it. If we saved all those wages whilst bringing in £60m+ I would expect to spend about £20m on a striker, #8, #6 and #10 and even then, one or two of them will be loans. The key would be to get the correct players in who have the quality, the profile and more reasonable wages and that's exactly were i think we would mess it up.

I don't think this would happen but I really wouldn't bet against it. The worst part is that you really couldn't count on our fans to adequately express how unacceptable this would be. They would still turn up and meekly clap as we are driven down the same road as Sheffield Wednesday.

If Bilal goes for around 25 and Winks for 5/6. Add on top the 29/30 we've already got from Coady/Ndidi and Mads and the wages saved from them and Vardy/Ward... Thats us brought in £60m and saved God knows how much in wages. The only problem is, we can't trust the club to use that well.

He would obviously need replacing but not with a "like for like". Winks doesn't fit into the midfield Cifuentes wants to primarily play. He plays with 3 CM's. An 8/10 hybrid which is Bilal, an 8 and a 6. We don't really have anyone that fits those last two positions so if Winks went, I'd rather we signed an out and out 6 with an 8 coming in too, preferably with Soumare leaving. That's why we made tactical changes yesterday after bringing Winks on.

As I said on another thread, we just don't have the personnel to play the CM that Marti wants. Bilal fits in but no one else is suitable for the ball winning #6 or box to box #8. He either needs to adjust his midfield as he done today when winks came on or look to sell both Winks and Soumare and replace them with players that fit. (No idea what we are gonna do with Skipp but we don't really have a choice there)

What became clear to me today is that Cifuentes likes to play a CM that we aren't equipped to play. He likes a ball winning DM, a box to box and almost an 8/10 hybrid. We have the latter covered with Bilal but no one else that we have fits those other two positions so he either needs to rethink this or we try move on anyone we can at CM and replace them with players that suit the system.

Is it? A young local lad who's done well sponsors them and they've given him his own number whilst our owners are creating and or using fake, dodgy betting companies as way of smuggling in cash to us. The latter is far more embarrassing than the former.
