Whilst I'd like to see this, Puel has been very tactically rigid in his career and has rarely gone away from 4231/442/4411 You could play the same players with Silva as a 10 though.

Doesn't mean he won't go, but guarantees us a big sum if he does.

He held the ball well and wasn't wasteful in possession. He needs to run more with the ball and get into crossing the ball more as well, we've seen he has the same pace as Andy Robertson so he is fairly quickly. He looks like a very good player.

Nice development! How is Wes rated 1 point lower than Maguire. They both really struggled in defence.

Not so much when you are chasing a goal with minutes left, the sub made it easier to defend against us.

They are good at breaking up attacks and both had good games. However neither are great on the ball. I think we should be playing both Iborra and Silva with either Mendy or Ndidi

Another slow start. After Salah missing an easy chance after 6 minutes, that should of been a wake up call. Three minutes later more awful defending allowed them to score. Salah and Mane kept running between the full backs and centre backs and we couldn't cope with it. Liverpool won without getting out of second gear. To be fair in the seocnd half we were a lot better, for the first 25 minutes of it. Then we let the tempo dropped and lost control of the game. Why bring Amartey on when you're 1-0 down? I know Ricardo went forward but why have 1 attacking player on the right instead of 2? Puel baffles me sometimes.

I find Puel's general tactics slightly counter intuitive. He wants to play possession based football, fine. However in central midfield we currently play with Mendy and Ndidi who are both good without the ball but not great with it. Silva and Iborra are both better technically but are worse defensively and much less athletic. Maddison doesn't drop into deeper midfield that much meaning it is harder to control possession. If he wants us to keep the ball more we should have 3 central midfielders or play with a diamond. The greater numbers making up for the lack of athleticism with Silva/Iborra. Silva Iborra Ndidi or Maddison Silva Iborra Ndidi Against Liverpool we won't have the ball much, thus I fully understand why Mendy and Ndidi are being picked. But in every game we stick to a rigid 4411. Puel's tactics against all teams seem to remain the same and aren't addapted to keep possession easier. He says he wants us to play possession football but doesn't help us achieve that with the setup of the team.

Considering Amartey played 90 minutes yesterday he might not be starting at RB on Saturday. I'd go for: Kasper Pereira Maguire Evans Chilwell Ndidi Mendy Ghezzal Maddison Gray Nacho Subs: Ward, Amartey, Fuchs, Iborra, Silva, Albrighton & Okazaki

Choudary, Kapustka, Elder and Soyuncu won't be involved then, plus almost all the kids bar Johnson. Possibly Hughes but I think he is still injured.
