You’re right, but I was addressing the question in the OP. It’s not been a good window yet. Nor a bad one. But certainly not the 5 new signings, £100M net spend much touted at the start of the window. And that’s what we needed/still need if we’re to challenge the top 6.

One, I think it will, based on no more than what I read into Burnley's attempts to sign a CB over the last few days (remember they have Ben Gibson behind Mee and Tarkowski already). Two, even if it doesn't, I bet there'll be at least one incoming tomorrow that trumps your 'we'd know by now' line. You could be right though!

Whether it's Tarkowski or another, I can't believe the club would let Harry go without having secured a replacement (not 'considering bids', but secured!). If not then we're back at midnight on deadline day with Silva's fax still going through...

Have we played a blinder this window? We’ll know Thursday night! If Rudders & co are as good as most on FT seem to think, then Harry’s replacement was lined up some time ago at a price the club is happy to pay. And given the obvious need for a goalscoring winger and competition/cover for Madders/Youri, there’ll be incomings there too. If all of these pan out I’ll be delighted and this thread will be more than deserved. Until then I’m keeping everything crossed and trying (& failing) to be patient!

Plainly we need a winger and an attacking midfielder. I’m not sure about CB but get the point that we’re an injury to Evans away from being either massively inexperienced at the back or relying once again on big Wes. What worries me is how late we seem to be leaving it. Yes, Perez, JJ & Youri were signed early enough but the other two signings don’t appear to be close (and you’d expect the winger to be a starter)? According to @LinekersApples they’re on their way and we should be holding on to our Y fronts. But he must have said that about a week ago. And now we have conflicting ITK info, with @Abrasive fox saying we’re in for Dunk, while @LinekersApples seems to be suggesting it’s Tarkowski. A week ago I was confident of finishing above Yanited. Now I’m worried, and thinking 8th/9th. If we’re to hold onto our key players next summer, I feel we may have to do better than that.
