  1. They are amazing! The little green bars are also fantastic and were my fuel for my last marathon.
  2. Yup, I’m in Hinckley and it seemed to go on forever! The thunder shook our house on a couple of occasions
  3. parkrun at Clumber Park was perfect this morning! A little warm in places but the shade from the trees and the wind on the way back was spot on. Not looking forward to tomorrow’s 7 miler - think it’ll be a 5am job otherwise I’ll die.
  4. I ran in Italy the other summer and it was 29 degrees at parkrun. It was awful but they had Prosecco at the finish so it balanced itself out!
  5. I’d love to do the Dragons Back! I’ve dabbled very much at entry level with a 32 miler (first half of London to Brighton), Manchester to Liverpool (50 miles) and have The Lap (47 miles) and Race to the Stones (full 100K) for next year. My dream is to complete a 100 miler but I’m not sure that this 47 year old mum could do it! I know age isn’t a barrier however the head isn’t the best.
  6. West Ham are gone. Those first 20 or so minutes were ludicrous as they never got out of their own half.
  7. The teenager cried! She said she held it together until the April 2025 and having to re-live him leaving. I cried as it all still seems so surreal. It also reminded me how glad I am that my brother (the only boy out of 4) hated football and that my dad dragged me along one Christmas to stand in the Kop at Filbert Street. Without out that I wouldn’t have this deep, insane love, for little Leicester City
  8. Seeing the joy on Vichai’s face and being able to see how much he loved this club hit me a bit. And just seeing ‘that’ team. Even now it still doesn’t seem possible that a bunch of flung together misfits and nobodies achieved what they did. It also reminded me of the love that I have for the badge.
  9. I’d not long had my second child and was at home listening on the radio. Gutted I missed it
  10. Anyone here doing this years GNR? I’ve never done it before however I was offered a place through Bodie Hodges today! Any feedback?
  11. I’m a huge advocate for ‘fit and feel’. If they fit your feet well and feel ok when you run then they are the shoe for you.
  12. Was about to say the same! Hinckley has been taken over by the highlighter orange £1 monzo shirts crew.
  13. Liquidator? The same as a few other clubs
  14. I don’t regret it at all. I was an overweight total non runner who ended up with a London marathon ballot place. Not exaggerating by saying this….it totally changed my life
  15. It doesn’t necessarily get easy because we change our goals….. I’ve never actually done C25K (went straight couch to marathon) and I don’t regret it one bit Good luck!
  16. Completed it this morning
  17. Not to my knowledge, no. There are a number of runners who finish in the 5hr+ bracket. The race can be used as a qualifier for other races.
  18. Ah, if you look behind you on the way up it’s not that bad……the last descent though
  19. Eryri isn’t as bad as it seems. 3 significant climbs with the rest being flat or downhill. I ran this faster than Brighton……
  20. Chester in October Marathon Eryri in October (stalk the FB page to get a transfer as loads come up) Boston UK in April - fast and flat
  21. She is insane! But she’s young, no responsibilities and running is her hyper focus. I’m so utterly amazed by her ability!
  22. One of my friends ran sub 7 minute miles across the whole 26.2 - finished in 3:02
  23. I did London in 2018 which was the hottest on record. Won’t lie, it was horrific! The one huge positive was that I saw the good side of the human race. They’d ran out of water early on (from around mile 8) and people went and found water to hand out, shopkeepers let us in to help ourselves to water and strangers gave out ice lollies. I ended up walking most of it was it was relentless and I was completing couch to marathon. Amazing day and one I won’t forget. If you’re starting in the red area, as you’re running look left quite early on and you’ll see the lady who brings her horse to watch the runners! Really surreal seeing a horse popping its head over the hedge. When you reach Deptford, look right at the tower blocks and you’ll see the people wearing top hats having their marathon party. It’s brilliant!
  24. I’ve massively struggled with confidence since London 2024 and have pulled out of majority of my races for this year including London. In light of this, I have done what any normal sane person would do and have entered my favourite race for next Easter…..Manchester to Liverpool Ultra! It’s a dream route and basically a massive picnic.
  25. One massive positive is that today at work a student was singing ‘championes championes ole ole ole’ down the corridor as I live in enemy territory. I didn’t react. I still have a job
