  1. Those wooden things that keep shoes shoe-shaped.
  2. Peanut point of sale in pubs, featuring a scantily clad lady behind the packets.
  3. Yup. “He’s found a way through”was one I heard recently. Bollocks - he just got lucky.
  4. Hard to describe, but very often when a big name player shoots a commentator will shout their name with a tone of inevitability, as if *this* is the attempt that’s definitely going in, because it’s the big name player. The voice kind of drops at the end. Only applies to the prem obviously.
  5. The Post Office thing is just what happens in all business’s everywhere. If there’s a huge cockup by someone senior, the little people get blamed. Senior people cannot be seen to make mistakes, their delicate egos can’t handle it. It’s a disgrace that so many people have been so horribly affected by a handful of tossers who no doubt earned/earn a fortune for being bad at their jobs. I would love to see some criminal convictions come out of this. A taste of their own medicine.

  7. Thanks @David Hankey , hope you have a good one too! coyb
  8. Entitlement. Possibly also an element of Yorkshireness.
  9. Cooking for nine. Turkey is brining, homemade S & O stuffing, cauliflower cheese, cranberry sauce and gravy all done and fridged. Made a mushroom soup to start and have also rolled my own pigs in blankets. Mash, roast potatoes and the veg will all be done tomorrow. Big effort but it’s what Christmas is all about for me.
  10. 54…. That’s bonkers.
  11. Second isn’t as good as winning, a simple fact in all sports and always has been. Proving to be better than everyone else can inspire, breed confidence and a winning mentality and can also attract players that might otherwise go to team that won. Second is for losers, literally. I’m a Leicester fan and want us to win by as big a margin as possible.
  12. Yeah, thanks for that Ian 🙄
  13. They look like cocks.
  14. Well yeah, I get that part 🤣. And I do want anyone other than them to get promoted with us.
  15. And that was definitely because of Ipswich? And it definitely wouldn’t be like that if the gap between them and Ipswich was smaller? I mean, you might be right - but we will never know and neither will anyone else. If Leeds were closer to Ipswich they might be dropping points for different reasons. Having the chance to win to go second would also bring pressure and could cause them to slip up. Who knows? Us dropping to second might cause Leeds to “smell blood” and go on a run. Again, who knows? This is all hypothesising, and I prefer to stick to the simple fact that we need top 2, and are sitting first. Therefore, a huge gap to second is always preferable to not, given the fact there are multiple other clubs who also want top 2. I think the whole premise for this wanting Ipswich to do well thing is based on us carrying on as we have been. We might not, and for that reason I want everyone who currently has a chance of top 2 doing as badly as possible, week in, week out, until they are all scrapping about desperately trying to get second in the final few weeks of the season, whilst we’re planning for life in the PL again.
  16. It’s nothing to do about winning the Championship - although I do want us to as football is a sport and winning in sport is good. It’s about maximising our chances of going up automatically, and I’d rather no teams be near us, rather than one, as I believe that maximises our chances of getting one of the automatic spots. I don’t buy into the psychological aspect as much as some, as it’s too unpredictable. Who’s to say if Ipswich overtake us at some point that we don’t completely crumble? It could be that being at the top suits us psychologically. Nobody knows. Would a 100m sprinter, needing second in a heat to qualify for the Olympic final, rather he was by far the fastest in the lineup or there was someone else virtually as fast? I’d wager the former scenario, as he might have a slow start, or tire, and there might be a third guy who runs the race of his life.
  17. I don’t get this wanting Ipswich to do well thing at all. Having a large gap points-wise to everyone else maximises our chances of getting promoted. That’s a statistical certainty. Having one team close to us to “push” us, or having a large gap from second to third so teams in playoff spots “focus” on those around them are woolly ideas that I really doubt manifest to anything tangible. I want as big a buffer as possible to everyone to allow for AFCON, injuries, drop offs in form, etc. If our PPG starts going on a downward trend I’d rather two teams have to close the gap to threaten our automatic promotion than just one. I genuinely can’t see how having a team close to us all season is any way good for us. Even if psychology does play a big part in how the season pans out, I’d take the psychology associated with every other team in the division knowing they are nowhere as good as us, and have the best of the rest fighting it out for second.
  18. Not to mention cheaper. We get something cheaper to produce and not as good, more than likely sold as an advancement that we pay more for (I have no evidence to back this up). Even voice commands are crap as you usually end up looking at the screen anyway to see if the tech has understood you. Touch screens may be modern and trendy but people will always like buttons, toggle switches and knobs. I’m into music tech and a lot of people keep away from gear with touchscreens, especially for live use. You can’t really build up muscle memory with them.
  19. Touchscreens in cars just don’t work. Luckily my car has actual controls for all the important stuff but I have to use the screen for things like the satnav and Apple Music. Trying to time the finger jab on our bumpy roads is bloody annoying.
  20. Mark Selby has been kidnapped?!?!! 😦
  21. West Brom get one back
  22. I couldn’t care unless as long as we are winning. I do start wincing a bit when we only just win playing this way, however. Or lose, obviously. Happy to control the play as we try and do when it’s working, but I’d like to see us change things quickly when it’s not working, and just go hell for leather.
  23. Unbelievable - I’m sick of him.
