I've just had a look on Autotrader at the nearest petrol alternative for mine, the option if I'd stayed with a petrol car. So, same manufacturer, type of vehicle, year and spec, and they're roughly the same price to buy. I also did a quick insurance quote, circa £700. The petrol is group 40E, where the EV is 50E

Yes, it came as shock when looking at insurance after agreeing to get an EV. Mine went from £450/500 to £950. Although, car insurance has gone up about 40% recently according to Martin Lewis, MSE. But I'm happy with the £200 a year saving on tax, £400 on a service (EV's only need a service every 2 years) and an awful lot on running the car.

If you want to get a valuation on a piece of land, but not a building plot, do you still just ring an estate agent? Family member wants to get an allotment valued.

I've not looked at hotel prices, but can confirm food and drink is expensive, not just alcohol. I'm sure we stopped for 2 coffees and cake, came out about £30 lighter

I've only cruised around the Fjords, up to the North Cape and back. Absolutely stunning country. Bloody expensive but definitely recommend.

Just finished The Woman in the Wall and just starting The Reckoning. The Long Shadow will probably be after that. Agree with all of the above. Both very uncomfortable viewing but very well done. I think, unlike usual real life crime dramas, the focus on the victims is what makes these so uncomfortable.

That's disappointing, there didn't seem anything hostile or contentious, and I was certainly finding it informative. I'm off to the Middle East in 3 weeks and was gleaning useful information to pass on to my fellow travellers who have gone into panic mode. We are scheduled for Alexandria, Egypt, Suez Canal more Egypt, Jordan and Oman. Yesterday some believed the trip would be cancelled as the whole Middle East was at war and the Suez Canal would be closed.
