  1. One of my favourite covers. Prefer it to the original. Art of Noise and Tom Jones. Together at Last!
  2. First of the provincial finals on today. Munster football final on at 2 between Cork and Kerry in Killarney. Normally one of the best days out of the year and the atmosphere is electric down there but this looks like a very one sided game is on the cards. Cork have gone way back from the early part of the decade and struggled n their last 2 games. Havent won in Kerry since 1995 and unlikely to change today. Leinster Hurling final on at 2 between Wexford and Galway. Lot of hype about Wexford given that they beat Kilkenny in the semi final but Galway are one of the favourites for the All Ireland and might just be that bit too quick all over for Wexford. Good day for it all the same. Hoping for a good game.
  3. To be fair they struggled against Fermanagh this time last year and got to the final but lack the forwards to go all the way. Look a bit jaded after so long on the go. RTE's attitude to Mayo during the game was like Sky sports towards us after Ranieri's departure. Criticized Mayo for everything. I'm only waiting for some of their players to be called snakes. Kilkenny won the hurling 0-20 to 0-17. Not a great game. Kilkenny, Waterford and Tipp the 4 teams in the next round. Looking like Kilkenny's golden age is drawing to a close.
  4. Mayo 2-15 Derry 1-12. 5 minutes gone in extra time. After almost kicking the game away in normal time Mayo suddenly have got going. Looks like its over. Onto the hurling between Limerick and Kilkenny on sky sports.
  5. Free in for derry to win it... Missed. Mayo then go down the field but miss. Draw. Extra time. Some drama.
  6. GOAL FOR MAYO! 1-12 to 0-12. A cracker of a goal from one of the subs. Look to have it now. Edit. Goal for Derry! Level.
  7. Last year's all Ireland football finalists Mayo in a bit of bother here. Derry 0-12 Mayo 0-10. 10 minutes to go.
  8. Bayern unique in that they regularly change the home shirt and never settle on one colour. They nearly always get it spot on with their designs in fairness. Rarely a bad bayern kit.
  9. Kasper is by far and away the best keeper of my time supporting Leicester. I was dreading the sevilla away leg and only for him it could have been a rout. Pleased that he's still with us for now. We could replace an outfield player easier than we could kasper.
  10. Auf wiedersehen pet first series episode on the yesterday channel tonight. Rediscovered this lately. Still sublime.
  11. A 2-0 win v Uzbekistan means Iran have qualified from their group. South Korea in 2nd place,1 point ahead of Uzbekistan.South Korea have made the last 8 world cup tournaments. Iran the 3rd team to have qualified along with Russia and Brazil.
  12. Still it's been a good turnaround for ye since Bruce got involved again. Costa Rica have wobbled in their last 2 games so USA should be strong enough to qualify from here.
  13. 1-0 to the USA after 6 minutes. What a strike from Bradley.
  14. Australia win 3-2. Massive win for them. Have Japan away next but Thailand at home in the last round. Japan V Saudi Arabia the last game will decide who likely goes through.
  15. Close to a major upset in football tonight. Munster championship first round. Cork 1-12 waterford 1-11. Waterford would have been close to 10/1 to win that.

    Musa

I haven't been impressed by musa but to me that's a bit of an unfair comparison.
  17. Enjoyable read that Fez. Looking at the headline I was expecting the usual cliches of honour, snakes, big time chariles but you got the message across. It's been hard work in Ireland explaining the situation to neutrals. People were coming up to me after the Sevilla win for a chat but when the topic of Ranieri came up everyone was against it and when I gave the background to the story (League One onwards-) people were still saying how could ye remove Ranieri. The SKY/Talksport thing has been well documented but sports media reporting tends to be very conservative in Ireland. Theres been a number of falling outs between players and management in the GAA the national sports over here. Print media tends to back the management to he hilt and players are often vilified.(Look for articles on a Mayo Gaelic Footballer called Aidan O'Shea to see how ugly this can get). Print media is what influences people and for the most part nobody here has a clue about Leicester beyond 2016. The obsession is United, Liverpool, Arsenal etc. The initial reaction in these circumstances when a traditionally middle of the road team gets glory is to blame everyone except the manager. Only in RTE did Eamon Dunphy agree with the decision. That said Dunphy has always gone against the grain with his opinions. You'll find though that teams that are perceived to be sucessful are fully justified in what they do but not little ol' Leicester.
  18. Eurovision tonight. My favourite Eurovision song (not many I've heard). Luxembourg winner from the 60s. Serge Gainsbourg was the composer.
  19. Home kit isn't bad. Not keen on the away. Noticed our former kit maker Burrda seems to have disappeared completely.
  20. Sligo 1-20 New York 1-12. Any hope of a shock gone.
  21. Football championship underway New York 1-12 Sligo 0-14. 20 minutes to go. New York almost beat Roscommon last year. They are made up of emigrants that have settled in the big apple. Were 3/1 to win this.
  22. 5 league wins at home in a row. If I'm right thats the first time we've won that many in the Premier League era and the first 5 top flight in a row since 1983/84.
  23. We can dance, we can dance, everybody look at your pants!
  24. Where did you go?!!
  25. The comparison to his dad is a good point to make. Going to Utd may mean that he has a very hard task emulating what Peter achieved. Peter has a higher stature in the game as he has succeeded at international level as well as club due to the Ferguson era. I know from reading up on some sons of legendary players and they point out they are very much their own man and want to be judged on their own merits. Kasper has been slightly more of a leader for us than his dad for Man U. The comparison is there but Kasper has created a greater legacy than what people would have thought possible 5 years ago.
