I do all of our shopping and cooking so I go into town about 3 to 4 times a week to buy produce which all gets used within a couple of days. I really don't recognise what you are saying, but I have experienced high levels of food waste with Asda, Tesco and Morrisons due to the decline in their standards - especially Tesco. Can only put this down to store variation and you might have a duffer.
