  1. In Spain, and perhaps elsewhere, each club has to submit a valid financial plan for the following season before the current one has finished. If the Spanish league doesn´t accept it then that club is relegated, before the current season has finished (but still has to fulfil its fixtures).
  2. Him and Moore, that´s two players for next season then.
  3. Bulbs can be a good choice as they flower, die off (don't cut them down when green) and flower again the next years.
  4. The Leicester fans who climbed up to the floodlights at Oxford, during an FA Cup game in January 1988
  5. Their appeal has been rejected also
  6. They will have to sell any player they get a decent offer for
  7. The Art of Falling Apart, by Soft Cell
  8. Yes. Stop the agents and other spivs from creaming off vast sums from the game. I think players can use the services of PFA representatives, for a fixed fee, to negotiate their transfers, contracts etc. I remember, in the 90s, that Chris Sutton used one to negotiate his 5 million quid move to Blackburn and he was charged around 1500 quid.
  9. You´ve got to get back to the station as well!
  10. I was waiting for this before making my travel arrangements for these 2 games. So Friday night it is. Two possible outcomes are: 1. We lose, get relegated, Millwall go up and we get taunted by 3000 cockneys 2. We win, stay up, Millwall miss out on automatic promotion and 3000 cockneys are trying to kick our heads in I´ve got to get to the railway station afterwards. I can´t run very fast now, but I´d still take the second option
  11. At the time we thought that game at Watford was a disaster, but with hindsight It was the catalyst that kickstarted the later triumphs
  12. If it was serious they should have subbed him off at HT
  13. In many cities you can spot buildings of that style (Art Deco?) (often former CO-OP dept. stores) from the 20s and 30s. As you say, new buildings tend to be just functional but not attractive.
  14. BBC and/or ITV only showing the second half of a live game (when live coverage of league games began, in the 1980s)
  15. Thanks for your detailed replay!
  16. I always had the impression that Americans would support their President even if they hadn´t voted for him, since he was the figurehead of their country. Is that correct and, if so, has it changed in the last few years?
  17. As someone said at the time about the Romans and their empire: "where they create a desert, they call It peace"
  18. They should ask him to name Ipswich's starting XI last Saturday, to see how much of a fan he is
  19. Portugal kept trading with England during the Napoleonic wars, defying Napoleon. So I suppose It was due to that treaty. The things we talk about, and the things we learn, here! 😃
  20. In a successful long ball side... I don´t care about playing style right now, so long as at the end of 2 May we are above the relegation zone. Some people were unhappy with Enzo´s style but I thought it was exciting (and successful), although it made me nervous when they played it around near our goal. To adapt a golf cliche, "football is not a game of HOW, it´s a game of HOW MANY"
  21. Definately worth a try. Walsh was excellent up front, as was Matt Elliott
  22. People walking towards me who wait until they're right next to me before they cough or spit.
  23. I can still see Pompey getting 10 points more, possibly making our game against them the decider
  24. Just been looking at our results from the start of the season. Three wins from 4 to start, only 1 defeat in the first 9. In theory we should have improved after August, as JJ didn't feature in the first month, but we didn't
  25. So Daka embodies everything that has gone wrong at the club since 2021
