  1. I'm not at all religious, but I really enjoy listening to people like Stephen Meyer and John Lennox. Their talks on Intelligent Design / DNA etc are fascinating and really thought provoking. I also find their tone and the way they conduct themselves far more agreeable than those of the New Atheists.
  2. I'll never forget my Grandad's last words before he kicked the bucket. He said "How far do you think I can kick this bucket?".
  3. Yeah that's why I was a bit excited about it. Surely it will be a big thing in the coming years, and it's a chance to draw in a whole new crowd right in the heart of the city. Plus it would help to fill all those new hotels being planned.
  4. Wasn't it going to be a venue for e-sports? It's not my thing but I thought it was an interesting idea and I was looking forward to seeing how it went.
  5. Premier League football is marketed as mainstream family entertainment, with the whole match day thing like watching Saturday night ITV. So, can we make live matches 'better'? It depends on who you want your audience to be. Right now the audience is 'the family' so it's probably just about right for them.
  6. Being interested in politics is just a hobby, the same as any other. People who like this hobby think it's far more important and interesting than it actually is. A bit like football I'm sure.
  7. It was the 'wobbly books' comment that gave it away
  8. Balancing the books
  9. Not quite sure what category this comes under .... I suppose comedy/horror .... but certainly funny and strange! The Greasy Strangler ..... well worth a watch.
  10. Mike Bassett England Manager on tonight, ITV 10.30
  11. That weekly build up of tension and excitement as we chased down Fulham made it one of the best seasons ever as a Leicester fan.
  12. It's quite old so it's probably already on here somewhere.... Brick Top as Darth Vader in ..... Snatch Wars.
  13. Liam Gallagher walked into a cafe and ordered a bowl of soup. The woman said "do you want a roll with it?"
  14. I found a lunch-box today, and inside there was a sandwich with a battery and some wires hanging out. When I phoned the police the operator asked me if it was ticking? I said no, it's cheese and tomato.
  15. Egg-Cheeseburgers from the kebab shop on Humberstone Gate, the 1st one past The Studio, Large Doner from Cyprus Kebab House Narborough Rd, or Lamb curry with naan from Golden Spice on the Narb (not sure if this one was late 90s though).
  16. Interesting from the World Economic Forum - 'Viet Nam shows how you can contain COVID-19 with limited resources' "To date, Viet Nam has had no fatalities as a result of the pandemic." https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/03/vietnam-contain-covid-19-limited-resources/
  17. For a really wonderful family film, I'd highly recommend an Indian movie called 'Dhanak' on Netflix. A 'Wizard of Oz' type road trip by a really cute brother and sister, with plenty of colour, singing, dancing and humour. It's not a Bollywood type movie though. It does have subtitles if that's not your thing.
  18. Can someone pass me the cranberry sauce please
  19. He first appeared on 'Banged up Abroad' (I think) telling his own real life story of how he was a normal lad from Widnes who moved to America and started to supply Ecstacy in order to recreate the UK club scene. He became really successful until he was arrested and spent a few years in US jails. He's got a decent Youtube channel interviewing all sorts of criminals and drug dealers etc. Though he's now branching off a bit and becoming more of an all-round 'activist' type, even going over the same sort of anti-establishment ground that David Icke mainly does these days. He's a likeable bloke, and he's often on with his mate 'Wildman' who's got a few good stories to tell too!
  20. I think it's difficult for people to work from home who need access to sensitive information, as there's extra security barriers to get past.
  21. It's round about now that they start realising that all the fruit, veg and milk that they've stockpiled is starting to go off.
  22. Imagine if the electricity was down as well. It doesn't bear thinking about!
  23. I think the players and the clubs will become bored within a few weeks and will ask the league/FA to allow them to finish the season by playing the remaining games behind closed doors.
  24. Yeah - sorry if it's a bit late for you! Spent a few days there 4-5 years ago and I really liked the place. My favourite part is the old river which they diverted away from the city to stop it flooding. They then converted the old riverbed into a public park with loads of different sections along it's length. So there's some sporting areas, some nice grassy/flowery bits etc. Take a nice long walk along it and it takes you to near the beach area, which in itself is really nice with loads of restaurants.
