We won’t sign him unless it’s a loan with Juventus paying most of his wages, which they won’t do as they want to sell. So I think we are safe on this one. On a free transfer or very low fee and a reasonable wage and I would sign him though. As it is, it just doesn’t represent good value at all as it is a risk.

The only issue for me is the price on his head. Ive previously said 8-10m max. I think where we are now, I’d stretch to 12. He would be on low wages which would balance it out a bit. There are so many reasons to sign him, a few are… Played in every professional league other than the premier league - he would be Chomping at the bit and will want to hit the ground running. Literally the only reason Blackburn stayed up (apart from us still being pissed for the last game). He dragged them through games with his determination, as well as positioning, movement and finishing and wad a leader on the pitch. Hes a Leicester signing all over. Just look at the club we have been historically. He’s exactly the type of player we sign. He goes straight in to the starting 11 in my opinion, and improves the team. In behind Vardy, and up top when Vardy needs a rest. The two of them as a 9 and a 10 would work very well because they both possess similar traits. I actually think Vardy has more goal contributions with Sammie in the side. Completely agree with those saying he offers no sell on value, and usually I would be against this type of signing if I didn’t think it would give us a better chance of staying up. But that’s exactly it, Szmodics gives us a better chance of staying up. Szmodics and a player who can operate either as a 10 or a striker and can play out wide and our transfer business wouldn’t be that bad.

Agreed. I think we would have been more attractive with Corberan tbh, that Bielsa philosophy is endearing. Whereas Cooper doesn’t have a style. So not only are we cash strapped, newly promoted, points deducted, relegation favourites, we don’t have an obvious style, and we don’t have a character who will attract players.
-
We can’t be paying 25m for him surely? Got to be better options. though at this point I’ll practically take anyone under the age of 25.

We are just terrible at recruitment though mate that’s the difference. We are handicapped by our boards lack of football knowledge and a clown with a very brown nose running the football side.
-
Yeah me too, that amount would be enough to appoint @Ric Flair as Head of Recruitment on a 5 year deal and bring in 4 players.

Well said. my lad went to his first few games at the end of the season before we got relegated. He got the bug, absolutely loved it, Madders was his favourite player after he saw him score a free kick, begged me to get him a season ticket. I fought really hard to get him a season ticket - I had a an empty single seat next to me which is often empty which helped my case. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I have a battle getting him to games now because his first season as a season ticket holder was so bad, says he hates football.

Season is over before it’s begun. Sold out best player, replaced him with a 32 year old Bobby de Cordova Reid, and continued to waste funds stock piling average at best centre backs. Literally dreading Saturdays.

Crystal Palace being the exception?

We are if they are good enough to be in and around the first team. If we can find young players able to fill in for our starters such as Mavididi, Fatawu, vardy etc then it is worth bringing them in. There are also young players available abroad who would arguably walk into our first team - these would be long term investments as their value would increase, but would be good enough for where we are now.
-
I feel the same. If we are playing our wingers narrow, it might be worth having someone who can play in the middle and pushing mavididi and Fatawu all the way up.
-
Not quite for the beginning of the season, but Gabriel Barbosa. Out of contract in December so would be free. Been linked before. Currently serving a ban but will be eligible to play around March iirc. Fully aware this is dreamland, but what a signing he would be on a free.
-
So the thread that is on fire at the moment puts this all in to perspective. Who would you rather have, Elye Wahi or Jordan Ayew? I don’t even think that question needs answering, it’s answered itself. Just a reality check for everyone jumping on the bandwagon of negativity towards Wahi.
-
Our club is a shambles. Who on earth would pay money for a 32 year old Jordan Ayew? He can’t get in the palace team, and to be quite honest, he’s just awful.

This is bang on mate. As someone who works with young people, I can say that kids make mistakes. We all know this, so let’s take our judgy glasses off. Yes the allegation is something to be aware of, but he was a child at the time, and we have very little info about what actually happened. There is also a chance that it never happened, considering the allegation is serious, you’d have thought some further action would have been taken if true. Ive worked with young people who have made poor choices, done bad things, and grown up to be completely different to what their earlier decisions would have suggested. The more recent allegation… He shouldn’t have pushed his mrs, I’m sure he knows that too. He hasn’t absolutely battered anyone - we’ve had players who have done worse. He was great at Montpellier, not quite done it at Lens. I for one would fully back him if he ended up here, and honestly, I think he’s about the best we can get in terms of ability, and can play anywhere accross the front three iirc.
-
He’s actually a good player. Do we want to stay in the premier league and build on that? Or would be rather be relegated, having taken the moral high ground? I would twist every time.

I think the price was the fiddly bit. We would have paid a lot more had KDH not gone for such a sensible if not low fee. Genuinely excited about this signing. Hope he plays a role this year and shows what he can do. I’m a little bit worried we will go down the route of buying loads of players in their late twenties, so I welcome signings like this! -
And we end up getting Nelson on 100k a week instead😂 The life of a Leicester fan…
-
Take this with a pinch of salt like all the other nonsense spouted. If we are close and it is us, we will surely find out in a day or so.
-
BC Game, along with adidas with their huge badge have ruined the best away shirt we’ve ever had. KP and a trefoil and I’d have bought several.
-
This is bang on. There’s no way we would have gone this route if we weren’t f*****d, and we are more so than most of the other 13. “Desperate men do desperate things” and all that. For the record, I won’t be buying a shirt. Because it’s an awful shirt. Adidas logo is too big and not a trefoil, sponsor looks awful - kp all day.
-
Agreed. For the record, I don’t want him either!
-
That’s what is being reported.
