There was a couple of year period where we spent about 7/8th most and did it through getting the best up and coming players like Madison and Maguire and operated in that size of the market. West Ham and Villa were going through a big transition. It was hailed some kind of inconceivable achievement (probably because of the title win just before). But in reality the silly fees teams paid us for some players allowed us to be that best of the rest and it was never a sustainable operation. We royally ****ed it up by getting relegated and it's been run like a shit show. But it's silly to pretend we were ever doing anything amazing. We were in such a unique position because of sales like Maguire. I think we probably have to accept we won't ever get back to where we were.

Didn't someone say that the deal on our end is in installments spread over 5 years? But obviously benefits Spurs because they can put £25m through as pure profit for PSR?

I think whoever goes in will want assurances they'll have chance to get them back up. It's free hit at this point too. Could argue it's more risky taking a job like ours reputation wise where the team is out the relegation zone but we all know that's just by some good fortune.

I think he was one of the positives early on. He's played well in games. It's a massive price tag to justify and it leaves him open to huge criticism when he has a performance like this one. You only have to look at how poor Soumare was to know that sometimes players need a bit of time. Spurs fans really rated him, and it's just a bit too much the way our fans write players off on here.

Thought this that season we some how bagged 8th under Brendan. The amount of games we were able to be shit in. You have to be absolutely abysmal to be relegated.

Agree that you can't blame him for the goals but I just think he instills so much fear into the defence and there's such a lack of organisation in the backline when he's in.

The fans certainly don't share the same sentimentality. You have to go above and beyond to impress these lot or you're a competition winner. Even Barnes was still getting dogs abuse on here after 13 goals. I think it's more a case that the club haven't had any other option but to give the youth players ever chance to succeed. Mcateer is certainly good enough for the Championship and will do well. No one is thinking Thomas is good enough. I fear for him. Hamza is limited as a player, and if all you're asking him to do is those limited roles, he can do a job as a squad player.

When they created the new league phase for the European competitions not only did it clash with the League Cup (which we all know how much they love) but it also means that clubs won't know when they can play their league fixtures right up until couple of weeks before. More and more will have to give until the finally get what they want with a super league of some form.

Feels like they're trying to make it more and more problematic to move games for them until eventually they just say the Super League is best for everyone.

If they do just do sk1 then it's literally pointless. You could quite easily do the upper half of the kop and improve things massively. I don't get how we have fans in the kop who want to sit down and be that kind of fan that aren't happy to just move? It's hardly like it's going to completely change your matchday experience if you sit somewhere else.
