You get my love of Leicester City rammed down your throat before you even enter my house: No mistaking who I support! Unfortunately, the Hawaiian shirt is normally there, but is in the wash at the moment...

Up front - Lineker - you need a striker who has that knack of just finding the net. Midfield - Kante. The guy's impact on an 11 a side game is massive - can't imagine 5 a side. Defense - Elliott & Huth - little option as running out of points, but I wouldn't fancy getting past them, and having a Cruyff Turn in your locker is always handy at 5 a side. Goalkeeper. Gavin Ward - he was always a reliable enough keeper, and tall enough to fill the goal at 5 a side.

YET ANOTHER INTERNATIONAL BREAK
Golden Fox replied to Always Next Year's topic in Leicester City Forum
Have the League Cup in these international breaks. Some mini round-robin leagues before Christmas & then knock-outs after. If some teams have to play kids to make up the numbers, then so be it, but it will give the competition its own flavour, be one less tournament for teams to disrespect and will reduce the number of potential fixtures on the calendar for international players. -
Its easy to pile on, but you can't help the way you feel. Was out for a walk with the family on Sunday afternoon - shrugged when the goal went in: disappointed, but not surprised. Driving back with the radio on low, heard a bit of excitement signalling 2-0 and switched it off. Checked on my phone midway through the 2nd half and then at full time. Then, at 6, switched on the 49ers game. Went through all the emotions, from punching the air being up early, to being really p*ssed off at the fumbled punt that let Tampa back into the game, to head in hands at missed field goals, then not being able to watch Tampa's final drive, to then the elation when they pulled it out the bag in the last minute. Maybe its just that Leicester are struggling at the bottom while the 49ers have title aspirations, but it does feel more than that: I still have the same passion for watching sport: but I just can't seem to get invested in City this season.

Finally: 3 pages in and a mention of Cambridgeshire. Interesting analysis, but I've had to go to Peterborough twice in the last couple of weeks, and there are a few folk there that might dispute your conclusion. For those grumbling about house prices, you might need to reconsider looking at the list by borough on https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/uk-house-price-index-for-june-2023/uk-house-price-index-england-june-2023 - as Cambridgeshire is the first place you hit outside of Greater London and Surrey... # Local authorities Jun 23 ave 1 Kensington and Chelsea £1,345,057 2 City of London £1,001,644 3 City of Westminster £996,153 4 Camden £880,889 5 Hammersmith and Fulham £776,673 6 Richmond upon Thames £764,021 7 Islington £696,363 8 Elmbridge £659,211 9 Hackney £626,355 10 Wandsworth £619,255 11 Haringey £609,591 12 Merton £588,569 13 St Albans £575,491 14 Barnet £574,285 15 Three Rivers £568,331 16 Mole Valley £566,219 17 Waverley £549,181 18 Kingston upon Thames £548,379 19 Southwark £546,707 20 Epsom and Ewell £543,670 21 Windsor and Maidenhead £543,650 22 Brent £541,559 23 Lambeth £537,524 24 Ealing £536,338 25 Guildford £535,504 26 Hertsmere £533,056 27 Epping Forest £523,872 28 Sevenoaks £519,415 29 Surrey £516,134 30 Harrow £515,471 31 Cambridge £515,226 178 Leicestershire £298,158 231 Leicester £234,633 317 Burnley £116,526

Have downloaded Blood Bowl 3 and worked through the tutorials. Its sluggish on Steam/crap laptop, but it works, so I'll persevere. However, my son has actually shown an interest, so have dug out my old teams and despite a rough and ready board and using D6 for block dice, had my first physical game for something like 30 years this afternoon!

The first 4 tracks of On Fire blew me away when I first heard them, and theuly srill do. Probably my favourite start of any album, going from a slow calm intro to bringing everything in such a short space of time. Shame the 2nd half tails off in comparison, but I soon got over that once I got Today - the album that precedes this.

It depends what work you do, but I need to concentrate for long spells, so needs to be familiar stuff and not too heavy, so I tend to have a few albums I find it easier to work to... The National - Trouble Will Find Me Beatles - Love (a remix album from 2006) James - Laid Bluetones - Expecting to Fly Edit - to add Mercury Rev - Deserter's Songs, All is Dream & The Secret Migration Other artists I tend to listen to but not necessarily individual albums are Yo La Tengo and another shout for Galaxie 500.

Isn't engagement in that sense how many people interact? e.g. retweet, like, comment, so its compared to number of followers. I'm pretty sure we have a massive social media following - probably to do with the Premier League win and random Thai influencers, so wouldn't be surprised if we have a high proportion of people who follow the club but don't interact. The fact you have so few followers you are on first name terms with all of them probably isn't a reason to brag and is why Wolves are looking for sponsors...

Very pleased for @KingsX! Couldn't ask for better series as a neutral... the while world must be rooting for a Mets/Guardians World Series!

The Jaguars have a long term deal to play 1 game a year, so they are regular. I think they do actually share it round a lot other than them. Its a real pain for teams to come over - particularly from the West Coast, and they do complain if they have to do it too often!
-
Just the 2 for me. Surprisingly managed to find the programmes within about 2 mins - just above Play Off final programmes! And loads of Leicester Panthers ones. That 49ers one got used so much - playing the 49ers on Madden on the Megadrive and looking up the numbers in the programme. Back then, it was accurate numbers in the game, but no names! I watched their old Superbowls recently, and couldn't believe how many players I knew from numbers alone.

I was watching it on Channel 4, but had to go to bed just after half time. I remember they actually switched to a different game as the game was dead and buried, and had just shown the highlight of the pick six as I went upstairs very happy. I used to just about manage to pickup Armed Forces radio in my bedroom if I got the dial positioned about right. That night, I couldn't pick it up other than just the really excited start of a sentence of "The Bills...". So with just that phrase to go on, I spent the whole of the next day replaying that phrase over and over in my head, with the sense of dread building, and then watched the rest of Channel 4 on video that evening to see the sorry thing play out. Still hate the Bills to this day! Could be good timing. The door is wide open for him to come back as DC for the 49ers...

That was it! It still stirs the emotions looking at pics from back then... They were 9-7 that first year of 1990, and then became a regular season powerhouse: with the next few seasons of 11-5, 10-6, 12-4. But they didn't even make it as far as an AFC title game. In 1991 they had to go to the Bills in the Playoffs who were dominating the AFC at the time. A pick 6 just after half-time made the score 35-3 to Houston... we all know what happened next. It was fun while it lasted!

Double reason for me: Started following in 1990 watching Channel 4 & watched week by week waiting for a team to emerge. Then, on 7th October 1990, I was blown away by the Houston Oilers. The logo, the colours, the Astrodome, the run and shoot offence & was instantly a fan. I then got to watch my first game live in 1992 at Wembley - Redskins v 49ers, and supported the Niners. (My mate I went with was a Redskins fan and rubbed it in a lot when the Skins beat the Oilers the year before on a last minute field goal miss - so I had to go with San Francisco). They became my 2nd team. My teenage bedroom walls had cut outs of calendars & catalogues, with the Oilers on one wall & the 49ers on the other. So the 49ers got promoted to my only team when the Oilers became defunct . Went to the States for the first time via working at Summer Camps for a couple of summers after leaving school. Didn't really have a say in where I went, but ended up near Santa Cruz, to the south of San Francisco. Loved the place & made a lot of friends in the Bay Area & have been back since, so adopted all the local teams: Giants/Sharks/49ers. Just coincidence that both reasons led me to the same team! Just a shame the only Super Bowl I've seen them claim was all the way back in 1995 when they were still my 2nd team...

The other thing I hated was the idea of rerolling dice. Completely alien to everything I'd played before. It felt like cheating and against the essense of a board game... But linking the turnover mechanism and rerolls meant it needed a lot more thought and risk management, and you could control the really unucky rolls, (to some extent!) so agree that it actually what made the game, and I really regretted not persevering with the 3rd edition at the time! Does sound like interest has exploded since I last looked in on the game as the tweaked rules came out so I'll look in on it again. Might even put up with Blood Bowl 3 even if its bad just to learn those new rules.

Would be interested to see what Blood Bowl teams you play with. As a big American football/board game/sports logos fan, Blood Bowl is right in my sweet spot! I had the 2nd edition as a teenager & painted quite a few teams. Although probably played more Dungeonbowl as was easier to play with my brother - quicker, more chaotic and less strategic I hated the 3rd version when it came out though. Bigger squares meant passing template was smaller, Stupid turnover rules so you couldn't do anything, changing some of the teams, and I was moving on with life by then anyway. But then in about 2009, I discovered the Cyanide computer game, so did get my head around the new rules (and found they were actually much better), and enjoyed designing teams and played a lot of campaigns against the computer trying out the different races. But I gather there was another refresh 2 or 3 years ago with tweaked rules? I've been meaning to read up on them and see what the computer game situation is. I'm a bit reluctant if they are planning on continually making changes to the game every couple of years. Would like to introduce the physical game to my kids, but quite expensive if they don't take to it. (Appreciate this is probably more board game than tabletop gaming, but I never had the patience to paint a whole army, and it was expensive and boring to do that number of the same race, whereas a team was a good number of players to do and then move on. Also, the rule books went on and on, and every type of unit had its own rules which just looked overly complex. Condensing it down to a board made it much more accessible). And as it happens my kids had the Simpsons "Homer Goes to College" episode on TV on Sunday... Nerd!

Not for a Giants fan.

Bad loss for my Niners last night to fall to 1-2. Were clearly the better team, but a fake punt, a missed field goal, a couple of dropped balls, a 50 yard completion on a "just launch it downfield" from the Rams, and a 48 yard pass interference on a "just launch it downfield" from the Rams and it shows the narrow margins in the game. Being 2 games back in the division, that feeling of being favourites for the NFC is long gone. So a welcome return to Levis on Sunday & have to take care of business against the Patriots...

LCFC Fans Consultative Committee Meeting 24/07/24 Minutes
Golden Fox replied to Foxes_Trust's topic in Leicester City Forum
I've glanced at a few points on here that I was keen to see action on. re: general sale "We aren't doing anything" but pads out the comment with half excuses such as identifying "some" fixtures with the "potential" to go to general sale. re: safe standing "We aren't doing anything" but pads it out with it will be "revisited" re: stadium expansion "we need to establish value in the budget" - what does this even mean? re: a disgusting company such as BC Game on the shirts "Extensive due diligence was undertaken to ensure suitability with the Club’s values". No attempt to go further on what this due diligence was. This only makes sense if the club's values are in the gutter. This is basically sticking two fingers up to the fans by pretending to answer questions but not actually doing anything. Would love to hear from anyone at the meeting if any of this garbage was questioned. I've tried to defend the club and the Foxes Trust on occasion, but neither side come out of this with any credit. Its just so depressing what has happened to our club. -
I'm really sick of this "Landing Zone" graphic on the kick-offs. already The new rules aren't that difficult, and it wasn't hard to follow in the pre-season. Let's hope is a week one gimmick that will go away!
-
My first week triple of Buffalo, Miami and Cincinnati not looking too clever at this point! Should have kept with my gut of not betting on week 1 - often all sorts of weird results...

Terrible record, full stop. He's a local Northern California boy, and the Niners had the first overall pick in 2005, so it was a great story for them to pick him. Except they decided to pick Alex Smith instead. Rodgers has never forgiven them, and always seems to try too hard against the Niners and has never managed to pay them back personally (although there is no doubting about the career he has had, and he is ahead 1 Superbowl to 0 in that period, but that hasn't quite satiated Rodgers' ego). Adds a bit of extra spice to Monday night, which means I can enjoy today's games completely unattached!
