Agree, Doyle has that over JJ. But every other metric JJ would win. Particularly the defensive ones. JJ can score too . To have Doyle's attributes at 19 is massively impressive. But he ain't gonna gain speed. And I'm always loathe to develop other team's players for them - particularly if it is at the expense of our own

I've always loved Wilf and stuck by him this last year or so when 75% of FT treated him with appalling disrespect. However, I can't say even as a wild fanboy that i knew he had all these lovely turns and tricks and feints up his sleeve....though there have been little clues. Social posts of training in the past have occasionally popped up some Wilf wonder finish....so it's been there and thankfully this manager seems to have harvested it.

Personally thought he was a clear improvement on Doyle when he came on. I'm biased, as I've thought it all along. His defensive work and pace are far superior. The overlap is superior. Last 5 mins he was dominant in the triangles of possession to run down the clock.

Wooah. That's not right. I can think of three clear occasions he read a move beautifully, stepped up and snuffed any danger before it happened. Almost defending perfection to do that (albeit that's weighted against an absolutely powde puff Bristol team) . Even so, he can only defend against what's put up against him. Well played Jannick.

It happens. He was thinking of his next move after catching it. Anyways, I like lucky players.

Wilf showed time and again today lovely feet, turns and an agile shift of body weight to let the ball roll across him - normally I'd only really assumed small stocky players can do. He's miles and miles above this level. Shout out to Faes, Vesty and JJ too. All three looked incredibly comfortable.

Bristol City (H) - Post-Match Thread

They were appalling. -
Also a lovely ride. Quiet and sleek cabin. Safest plane in the sky.
-
That's unfair. As someone else points out, he totally restricted the formation to a very conventional style. Flat back 4, allow and invite opponents to cross as we had 2 centre halves and the other full back all able to defend crosses. Then, the quick pass into space up front. Basic, traditional, but absolutely perfect

Love it. Cannot stand them. -
Lol, not digging you out pal, but this is FT all over. Preferring sexier new players over roadtested and successful players of our own.
-
Will he though? They'll start off well drilled but tho the big man has lots of pluses, in game tactics weren't one of them. Tactically he's ultra basic.
-
I've always been ok ish with him. I mean he needs pace alongside him - not his fault that Faes and Doyle aren't quick. With JJ there he'd be better. But is his few appearances for us, I saw him play a low block very well v Man City and out in a heroic rearguard v Rennes for 20 mins.. He's never been as bad as the punters have made out. Wrong manager, wrong tactics, bad management....a lower level PL player but is wayyyy over qualified for championship. I may add, he isn't very likeable. I get it. If I were him I'd have a chip on my shoulder too. But I can like a player without likking the man (and vice versa)
-
Agree. The comparitive gulf in our wages Vs the rat if the league dwarfs the man city and Chelsea money paid to players versus the rest of the PL. I'd estimate the difference is similar to Man City only playing in a league of 19 Palaces or Wolves. So yeah, nice to win. But we ought to win with that advantage

You know, and I say this as a complete fanboy of Ricky, I ain't been overimpressed with him in this role. He's been robbed in midfield at least once every game so far. I like Hamza. His pace, his edge, and a hint of arrogance that good players possess

Is there a health thread? Please merge if so...thought it might be a worthwhile thread.. As I'm (horrendous thought) well and truly middle aged and becoming aware that I'm hitting all sorts of age markers for increased risks....Anyways,.bought an icle test thing today to test for early signs of blood in piss. Anyone else done this? also started on supplements; probiotic drink each morning (feels great) and ashwagandha tabs each day too

Anyone on here interested in finance and dabbles in investments? I've started over lockdown (on the premise of buying low to try and sell high) Seems a classic case of the more you learn, the less you know. But I'm starting to find it fascinating....to my surprise researching the galaxy of investment funds - strategies, ethics, performance, teams - has become more interesting than researching individual shares.

..or blokes too, of course. I started a thread once on prof Alice Roberts. Who I fell in love with. But I'm tiring of her now and finding myself drawn to Angela Scanlon, Irish ginger presenting 'your home.made perfect' on the been right now. She'd make my home look perfect 😜
