  1. Ricardo MOTM for me... Chilly close second, everyone else gets honorable mention.
  2. Myth! Mendy is 5 yards (usually sideways) and a cloud of dust. After tonight, even Wilf is 1 goal and 1 assist better him...
  3. I would normally say that he shouldn't let the door hit him on the way out, but he will probably be out of position...
  4. NOBODY was good. Ricardo, though good going forward, remains constantly Out of the Office positionally on defense...
  5. They are deep because the defense sits too deep, particularly when Morgan is playing and Maguire is absent. If they move up that leaves gaps between the back line and the midfield, and thus for a conservative coach like Puel this is probably the ‘better’ option. Not sure we can play a high defensive line either, with the slow CDs that we currently field. Therefore, we may have to wait until Soyuncu is up to speed (and possibly until Benkovic gets here) to see any appreciable change with the current squad.
  6. This! Spot on on all points..
  7. Maguire reportedly will not be back in training until Monday.
  8. Your opinion. Everyone’s got one, but feel free to petition the EPL.
  9. NO, we did NOT “steal” a point! On the balance of play, we should have won the first-half and should have lost the second. As it turned out, the opposite of each happened. Fair play, that’s football for yer!
  10. AFCON has been moved to the summer, depriving us of so much mediocre humour...
  11. But Madders is NOT expected (nor required) to “own the midfield all by his lonesome”. Under Puel, it appears that he is expected to provide the bulk of the creativity (which I agree with Gillies Apprentice might be turning out thus far to be a “misjudgment”), but midfield is more than just creativity and he has not been tasked with any of the other less glamorous aspects of the midfield (the water carrying and destroyer responsibilities). Frankly, the issues with our midfield lies less with the non-possession phase (contrary to your contention, Mendy and Ndidi both do a steady enough job of disruption, winning possession, protecting the back-line, dropping back to cover when Maguire ventures forward, supporting the full/wing-backs, and carrying the ball for the proverbial 5 years and a cloud of dust) but considerably more with the possession phase whereupon the primary creative responsibilities lie with Maddison (occasionally Iheanacho) and the wide players. The latter bunch are just not creating enough.
  12. Some supporters want us to be a very good team, which should not be an issue...
  13. Don’t think Iborra will be fit enough to start (or even play), but even if he is he was pedestrian last weekend and undeserving of another start.
  14. If that first hour of chinese water torture was “our way”, then glad we lost it...
  15. Prove it! Seriously, last night the only time he tried anything more than a five-yard pass it nearly cost us a goal but for Ward and the crossbar! I realize that Mendy is like a new unexpected signing under the circumstances who looks even better given the debacle that has been Iborra and Silva, but quite frankly he’s about as creative as a bald spot.
  16. How’s that working out thus far?
  17. What game were you both watching? Whoscored has Ndidi as the top City performer today (though my own personal choice would be Ghezzal).
  18. Which is why you need winners and passers, and not just the latter...
  19. This! He still makes at least one gaffe per game but he is averaging an 80+% completion rate while having the most touches on the team.
  20. You can’t pass the ball if you don’t have it...
  21. Well done lads! Vichai would’ve been PROUD!! Even on-loan Benkovic got his first goal for Celtic today.
  22. Thank you Boss! Rest well!
