  1. What did Schmeichel do to earn a 6? Barely saw any action. Meanwhile Tielemans had another largely anonymous game.
  2. After the first 20 mins or so, we have been clearly the better side. Only wished we didn’t start off so slowly. Come on Lads!
  3. Hate that the international break came when it did, because we were on a roll.
  4. “A massive 1 point” decided the title last season...
  5. Just saw it in the Mercury. A bit surprised given that Nigeria had been compelled to call up a replacement for him in their international squad.
  6. FTers will start a fight in an empty room. OP is NOT asking anyone to clap or join in, just letting us know why the would be an applause in the 55th minute. Accordingly, the debate/discourse about how best to honor (or not honor) recently-deceased fans may be intellectually interesting but frankly IRRELEVANT to this particular post. RIP to the dearly departed.
  7. VAR does not change/retract a red card that’s already been issued by the Ref.
  8. Agree. If Benko starts, it will more likely be alongside Wes.
  9. Good news! We should commence negotiations immediately about a permanent transfer...
  10. Labored WIN, but I'll take any WIN...
  11. If he continues the way he has in the last game and a half, he may look way better on the bench. Wake up Youri!
  12. PREAT ON PLEASE!!! We need someone who can pass the ball out of midfield.
  13. Mount, Pedro, Pulisic and Giroud. This could turn out to be offense vs defense, unless we can control the pace. Good luck lads!
  14. Emerson doesn’t play on the right.
  15. ONE GAME into BR’s FIRST full season, and some have already written his epitaph! WOW!
  16. No, we haven’t. We have seen enough games under BR, going back to last season, to consider the performance against Wolves as an exception rather than the norm. I recall how happy and enthusiastic all of us were after our away performance against Southampton under Puel, but sadly that turn out to be the exception under Claude rather than the norm. Thus, it’s not a personal grudge against any one manager but rather what’s ultimately good for City, regardless of whom is on the sidelines. Puel was granted enough rope and time here by most (admittedly not all) fans, and we will (or should) accord the same to BR. Nonetheless, be rest assured that if the performances and results under BR are subpar, he would also receive the same treatment from fans as Puel’s. Meanwhile, some of you are welcome to remain PRISONERS of the past or to see it as a platform to build on and MOVE ON!
  17. Enough with Puel already! Claude would probably have thought last Sunday’s display was “qualitee” while at least BR seemed actually a bit disappointed. Over the course of the season we are going to suffer through some pedestrian (and even poor) performances under BR, but the best of BR would almost certainly better than the gruel largely served up by Puel. He did some good things while he was here, particularly with many of our youngsters, but that chapter is closed and it’s time to move on.
  18. See one of my comments above to the effect that they played well against Man Utd. Nonetheless, their midfield was still single-handedly dominated in the second-half of that game by Pogba. Against Liverpool on Wednesday, Kante did not put a foot wrong and won, retrieved, harried and passed the midfield to a different level. Without him, Chelsea has a good/solid midfield (like Wolves). With him, they have a top 3 midfield. Add Kante to our midfield and it’ll be better than Chelsea’s.
  19. It sure did!
  20. Kante (who virtually had no preseason) made ALL the difference on Wednesday. The midfield was not terribly impressive against Man Utd.
  21. Must have missed those comments about “playing them off the park”. I just think the many of the overly negative comments are unwarranted and the game will be more closely contested than some of the sentiments expressed on here. However, Chelsea has actually played well in both defeats (the Super Cup is of course technically a draw) and now desperately need to win to avoid early pressure on Lampard, and Lampard’s competitive home debut would be ideal. Accordingly, wouldn’t be surprised if they ultimately edged it but it will be keenly contested.
  22. Surprised at all the negativity... Chelsea UPPED their game last night, and I fully expect us to UP ours on Sunday.
  23. Changed my sentiments towards VAR... LOVE IT! At least until the next review goes against us.
  24. Seriously doubt that Ndidi will start on Sunday (if he plays at all)...
  25. I am traveling abroad and drinking generously... So, I’ll stick my neck out and predict 4 points from our first 2 games.
