  1. Out of the 4 clubs interested, QPR is much closer to where he lives at the moment and he probably won't have to move. He probably wants that stability
  2. I can't recall him keeping, John Simpson was at Middlesex for years and always kept wicket. We'd be recruiting him as a batsman and he's turned himself into a good white ball cricketer.
  3. Seems a good, positive manager, I hope he is given time. I'm sure when he was speaking to Pedersen at the end he was gesturing to come and have a drink with later.
  4. Because he doesn't have to do much defending in the Championship. The kid is not doing himself any favours as any managers doing their research will see his antics as evidence of poor character and steer clear. This could be why he is still with us.
  5. Green averages 14.28 with 14 wickets in List A now.
  6. Saints don't have the pace or height up front to cause Wrexham enough problems. Some better players on their bench.
  7. At least they've got a decent shirt sponsor
  8. Not sure where he'd be going unless he is retiring. He will be 34 at the start of the next season
  9. Going off-topic here, but pro sports people can offset their tax in different ways and many pay max into pensions as they access pension benefits from the age of 35. I'm sure there are more qualified on here that would comment but can't see a scenario where JV be paying 50% of earnings in tax.
  10. Life is sweet for Vestergaard. Turned 33 at the weekend and still two more years of contract to go. Nobody in the EPL would want him and nobody elsewhere or abroad could afford him. He also wouldn't want to drop down a level or compromise on his wages too much. The only thing that might motivate him to move is if he felt he needed to play first team football for international selection. I'm sure he'll be spending more time with Brady this season.
  11. I liked his attitude. He was dedicated and professional when the defenders in from of him were useless. He'll be a good signing for West Ham
  12. That's disgraceful, especially with all the Hundred money coming in. I've heard excellent freelance cricket journalist and ex-cricketers on other coverage and we're offering a meal deal.
  13. They said that Eskinazi was still to be confirmed, which implies that the others are definite. They also said we were the most active in signing players, laying the ground to have a real shot at staying in div1
  14. Got bloody self-publicist, Ben Foster, commentating on tonight's Hundred game. Talk about how to definitely alienate cricket fans.
  15. In contract until 2026, so must be asking to be released. He knows Handscomb from Middlesex and grew up in Australia.
  16. Just says it's a county coach, rather than Head Coach, so could be anyone. Shared pictures of his middle stump.
  17. Is Trevaskis unable to bowl? That's 6 overs from Patel now.
  18. How can they have someone like Jeremy Coney on their comms!
  19. I'd rather we left this one alone, as he probably wants a 4 year contract. We have enough players in their late 20s/30s, I'd rather we invested in someone younger for a few million and much lower wages.
  20. My rough reckoning, about 13-14, though a couple of them on specific white ball or Blast contracts
  21. Big step up to second XL and then first XL cricket from under-18s and they probably need another season of second XL with the odd first XL game to develop. Rehan, Hull and Green are outstanding talents for their age, as is someone like Jacob Bethell. Even Joe Root didn't make his first class debut until he was 19. What's encouraging is that we have these guys coming through now, whereas 5-6 years ago we had a big squad of journeymen pros winning all the second XL games, but not adding anything to the club and there was no pathway for the under-18s.
  22. It looked a bit thrown together tonight. It's supposed to be an elite product, but (and I know he is a great county pro) still had 40 year old Wayne Madsen batting in the top 4. I don't think the runs and balls format has ever really worked, especially on TV and I think the players are befuddled by it, suddenly dropped into this 'other' format, as they can't tell what a par score is and what pace they should be scoring at. I do think it works better being there 'live' with all the other bits and pieces going on, rather than a cricket TV event. When I've been to games, it's mostly families (mothers grinning gamely) and after-work crowd on the lash.
  23. Strong team compared to some of the others given outings today. Hopefully we can qualify early and give a couple of the young batters (Dunk and Madan) some first team experience.
  24. Tattersall from Yorkshire. I don't think Maddy has done enough with the bat for the seconds to warrant a first team place yet.
  25. Ward, Coady, Brunt and James. We got a few more if they want them.
