It’s the implementation of the tactics that is the problem. Martin is a poor coach, he has an ideology, but he can’t implement it…. His time at Southampton is starting to look more like it was down to his resources than his methods. You just need to look at how we try to beat the first press from the opposition……….. The defence stand in a straight line and pass it between them….. that’s not a tactic, it’s suicide……. We don’t move off the ball, there no basic moving into space to create space for runners and passers to keep the ball moving….. Just think about how Enzo beat the first press, Vesty invited the press, beat it with a pass into Winks, who bounced of Ricardo to open the pitch up and advance… There no movement at all under Fartin, the players just stand still, almost expecting the ball to come to them…. You’re movement off the ball in this system is more important than what you do with it, because that’s how you create the space….. all we’re doing is inviting teams onto us, shitting ourselves and losing the ball…. It’s coaching, poor coaching… those who have seen Sammy play know he’s capable of doing what Winks did for us, what he is being asked to do is completely ineffective…. If Enzo was here, we would be top, because he knows how to coach this system, Russel doesn’t… Nothing this clown does will work, he’s not got the football IQ to deploy it without having players good enough to to deploy it perfectly….

100% agree. Nigel is my favourite ever manager, and in my opinion our most important…… As you say, I don’t think some fans realise how important he was, and the trust Vichai had in him to bring him back and essentially set up the club…. We had experts in every area, strength and conditioning, injury prevention & recovery, nutrition, psychology, etc… he left nothing to chance, and the club ran efficiently, over time that’s gone, all those integral parts that made the blueprint what it was, vanished, it accelerated after the loss of Vichai because Top allowed Rudkin to run the club and he’s ran it into the ground. You’ve got essentially two ownerships, one where Vichai knew who to trust the run the club, and hold them to account, and then Top, who essentially can’t do anything, other than destroy everything his father put in place. Nigel was extremely forward thinking, despite what some think, and he created an environment to thrive. He had his shortcomings of course, but his vision for how the club operated off the field made what happened on it easier to manage. It’s what facilitated the great escape, and the premier league title win in my opinion….. would we have won it with Nigel? We will never know because he didn’t get a chance, but would we have won it if Nigel never came back? Not a chance in my opinion. He was the tonic Vichai needed to take the club in the right direction…… models that’s Brighton, Bournemouth, Brentford and even Coventry all now follow, no surprise to see Bristol City steadily improving too. Id love to have Nigel in as a DOF type roll…. He knows how football clubs should run.

We’ve got to move away from soft characters. Enzo is proof that a strong character will get more out of a group. On paper this side should be winning this league, no matter what’s happening off the pitch, you can still have a good manager, a leader someone will inspire the group to play out of their skins. This is what we need, not another Pep wannabe…. We need someone with similar traits to Nigel, just a sound decision maker and all round logical manager….. I’m bored of the same old weak minded people expected to work up a miracle…. It will never happen, but I’d be looking to get Pearson back in some capacity, to be here to assist with the ownership transition, and set up of the club, and hopefully sack off Rudkin and he can take over the rebuild of the club, with someone like Fuchs as a young manager…… This is the type of restart we need, not another cloth brained space cadet who thinks they’re pep.

This is it…. What’s happened is for years King Power benefitted from how Nigel set the club up, over time that system eroded and was never replaced. That’s why we’re in a shitty mess, along with dreadful decision making…. But the blueprint that made this club successful was ripped apart and never pieced back together.

But it genuinely wort work for Russell, he’s proven that he’s inflexible and will not deviate from his philosophy…. The problem is his philosophy is clearly a load of shit, it’s not working, his arrogance is blinding his ability to see this. He is a terrible coach, and he is proving it with what he is producing on the pitch. There will be no improvement, because it’s plainly obvious his system is flawed beyond redemption. The red flags were there in the last pre season game, and quickly became even more apparent when the competitive season started. Martin won’t change, his methods do not suit this team, and it will only get worse.!
