So much better, that. Though I'm kind of in shock that it came from BDCR of all people out-muscling their man.
-
One small positive I can already see from Aribo is he's actually looking forwards when he gets the ball. That alone makes the Soumare comparisons unfair. Early days yet, granted.
-
f*** off is that a yellow though, refs being nudged to make things harder for us?
-
Ricardo you absolute numpty - he's finished.
-
Also I would 100% take Wrexham spawning their way to the Prem if it came at Cov's expense in the playoff final.

Absolute scenes when they beat Cov today

Massive question mark over Lascelles' fitness too, of course, but I'm excited to see Nelson finally get an actual defender alongside him in a blue shirt. Praying he lasts the full 90.

Ayew's been dropped, I'll take that every day. What else were folks expecting - throwing 2 teenagers in for debuts? The only one I can't fathom there is not giving Kristiansen a go if he's available ahead of the school raffle winner, but then again maybe he's not fit enough to play 90 minutes. Who knows? The real litmus test is whether Kingy gives Richards the nod for the end of the game instead of the lump. I'll reserve judgement on this selection until a ball is kicked.

Premier League 2025/26 Thread

Mbuemo is the signing of the year and it's not even close - he's everything Man Utd. had been missing. -
It's bad enough hearing "Soumare" every time I watch Sheff Utd, I'm incredibly triggered by Slimani being involved in everything Norwich are doing.

The singular fact that our greatest-ever player is pretty transparent in his disdain for the man say everything "on the fencers" should need to know. No shit he's popular with our squad - they're a bunch of mollycoddled, lazy bastards who are paid a king's ransom for doing nothing of note on the pitch due to the wage structure Rudkin is responsible for. Now don't get me wrong, I don't think Vardy is exactly an angel who's above a little shit-stirring, nor do I think we could have afforded to throw an exorbitant wage at him given what a financial shitshow we're currently in. I wouldn't be surprised if that's part of why he's been hinting at his dislike for Rudkin since that little incident on the balcony at the Clock Tower when his contract was up in the air following promotion. But to see the team you've been the talisman for die a slow, painful death around you, and seeing the sort of contract you earned through near-impossible feats over a decade now handed out to anyone who comes through the door, must make your blood boil if you're someone like Jamie who knew what the team Pearson built acheived, and more importantly what they were being paid before everything went silly buggers post-title win. I'd be very interested to know what the rest of the hangers-on from the title squad post-FA Cup win make of it - Schmeichel and Albrighton probably have their own strong opinions on the man. I wouldn't be surprised if Kingy does too, though he's got to stay diplomatic for obvious reasons.

Being brought to watching Norwich vs Blackburn because it affects our season is a new low, not gonna lie.
-
I wouldn't put it past our hierarchy to actually set us up with six wingers... then go and get Jesse Marsch in, given he's notorious for refusing to play with any width whatsoever.

Plus King Power were uniquely terrible at diversifying their income streams when Covid gave them a chance to. They doubled-down on Duty free rather than doing something sensible like pivoting to their domestic market or diversifying into other sectors, like so many other companies in the same sector did to stay afloat. Failure to move with the times and make forward-thinking decisions while doubling down on bad ones has put their primary business into the shit, so it's no surprise they treat our football club the same way. Folks who feel 'sorry' for King Power on the basis of COVID are actually mental. We're actively suffering financially because of their complete failure to secure revenue streams and reliance on wishful thinking rather than facing reality.

Amidst all the noise around the points deduction, it is worth noting that we have four new signings to hopefully get a look at in this one. That alone is reason to look forward to tomorrow. It will be very interesting to see if Mukasa and Lascelles in particular come straight in. If they look shit, I give up. Bromley away, olé olé! ~

Backing King on the pitch is completely different to backing King Power off it. There's absolutely room to do both, even in the stands on matchday.

If that really was their line of thinking, they probably decided it a month back after looking at our fixtures. "Wrexham, Oxford and Charlton? Surely they'll get a win or two there, won't be in any danger." Three weeks and one point later, we're surviving on goal difference and with the worst strike force we've ever seen at the club. Going down despite the EFL trying to be "lenient" would sum this club in 2026 up perfectly, to be honest.

Realistic Managerial Replacements

Worth another go, he was just brought in two months too late by our braindead board last time. Even then, we improved. We were still a missed penalty and a Castagne shot down the keeper's throat from survival. -

Premier League 2025/26 Thread

I just saw the fallout of the McNeil thing, was too busy focussing on our own deadline day madness. Whether it was intentional or not for them to pull what they did, I can't help but notice the parallels between Palace right now and ourselves over recent years - gaffes, overspending, and failing to get players out who want to leave while facing deteriorating results on the pitch. It's a recipe for disaster, I just hope for their sake that their wage bill isn't as ridiculous as ours has been, because they're looking more and more like the next club to enter a doom spiral. They'll probably be ok this season but yikes, not looking good going forwards. Oh, and I can't possibly not mention that this downturn has followed them winning the FA Cup. It's all oh-so familiar! -
I remember getting into arguments with Chelski fans who thought we were ungrateful for calling Casadei out as the weak link in Enzo's squad. He was apparently the future of their midfield! Enzo clearly didn't fancy him once he went there - played him once in the cup then shipped him off. He's now part of an incredible average Torino team, and even that feels like his ceiling if anything.

crazy start to this second half

Huth wins, easy. I'm not old enough to remember Muzzy on loan, only as one of ours. Going back a little further, I was really really impressed with Kyle Naughton when he was here. That Sven squad was such a mess but he stood out, until Simpson came along he was the best right back I'd personally seen for us.
