  1. This time of year is excellent to visit this area. Would definitely avoid New Orleans, Florida, and more during that time of year, especially given recent weather events. Hurricane seasons only seem to be getting worse. A few days each in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington DC can be done without having a car rental. Would recommend a side trip with a rental car for a couple days to see the fall foliage, get away from the city, and get your hiking in. The Adirondack and Catskill Mountains, both in New York, are lovely this time of year for exploring. Finger Lakes region of New York offers great scenery and outdoor activities with less hills. Best of luck with the planning, happy to offer more recs for certain places as your plans come together!
  2. Lived all my life in the Northeast, now closer to Philadelphia, and have traveled the country. Boston/NYC/Philly/Washington DC is the only part of the country with reliable train travel between major cities, and excellent hiking is not far away (Catskills, Adirondacks, and more). Also, flight options are plentiful. Heathrow, Manchester, and Edinburgh all have nonstop travel to this part of the country. Big question is…What time of year are you looking to travel, and what’s your preferred climate? So true, it’s wildly expansive. For instance, Arizona and the Grand Canyon are breathtaking, but Phoenix also had over 100 consecutive days with temperatures at 38C or higher. Hence the time of year question above.
  3. Well said. Storm surge is a big deal that doesn’t get mentioned enough. Newer buildings are built for winds, but water is a different animal. Added trouble with high tide predicted in the early morning hours, right after landfall. Our best friends are in Zone A in St. Petersburg, and left today. Expecting the worst, no sugarcoating it.
  4. Replay showed it wasn’t much for contact. First half handball was far more convincing
  5. Of course Attwell cleared that handball
  6. Tree House Oak-aged ESB is better than any bitter I had this spring while in London.
  7. Did not know this, and while horrifying, not at all surprised. I’ll stick with my takeout cheesesteak and American-made ESB tonight. Even our “crisps” are subpar. All Dressed (Canadian staple) and Prawn Cocktail > anything we can buy here.
  8. We’re all of product of our upbringing in terms of tastes, and there’s a lot of garbage food here. But ten days in Florida theme parks will make you question more about our country than just the food. That being said, I will NEVER turn my nose up at British food. I specifically visit one nearby store over here to buy steak and ale pies and specialty teas all winter long. Rather eat British food year round than step foot in Florida ever again.
  9. Absolutely perfect day at Tree House. If you ever have a reason to be in New England, it’s a must visit. Their cans are great, but even better on draft.
  10. Vardyyyyyyyy
  11. Won’t be upset if we keep seeing this Faes today
  12. NBC commentators think Mavididi is on the right?
  13. Kaffibarinn was our hidden gem on the trip. Chill vibe, friendly patrons, and good conversation all night (we left before it changed over to a disco). We went back every night we were in town.
  14. Loved Reykjavik. How many nights will you be in the city? We found some great places frequented by locals, just by wandering around. One of the cleanest and safest cities we ever visited. Messinn was a great restaurant, amazing seafood. Can't really go wrong with seafood anywhere around there. Fredriksen Ale House was a decent pub. If you have a chance to visit the concert hall, even just to walk through it, it's worth a few minutes.
  15. Correct, international break starts on St. Patrick’s Day
  16. This is accurate. My American sports fandom is easily focused around my local teams, who I’m supported since I was a child. I found my way to supporting Leicester because every friend had chosen a Big Six team, and I couldn’t bring myself to do that. However, NFL fandom is far more nationalized/non-regional than any other sport. You’ll find Packers and Cowboys fans in all areas of the US, and several close friends are obsessive supporters of historically losing teams that aren’t within a thousand miles of their home. Little did I know, the emotional torment of supporting teams with only 1 or 2 league titles in their entire history pairs well with my choice in English football. Never a dull moment!
  17. Winks laying into Faes, deserved
  18. Awful, awful news about Johnny Gaudreau and his brother. Visiting his hometown for the weekend, with his sister getting married today.
  19. Off to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in Philadelphia tonight. Feels like a rite of passage when you live in New Jersey that you must see him in concert at least once.
  20. Opened an American-made English mild from Underground Beer Lab, seconds before Vardy equalized. Delightful on all fronts
  21. Welcome to FoxesTalk
  22. Danny Higginbotham offering complete sentences and objectivity on our broadcast.
  23. Still out of the relegation zone and ahead of Chelsea in the table
  24. Just had a fox run in front of me and the dogs on our morning walk…I’ll accept it as a good omen for Monday that it wasn’t a mangy fox. Grasping at straws for pre-match optimism.
