  1. Well said, and legitimately a hero. He spoke at my college commencement some 15+ years ago. Truly humbling, both in his words and to be in his presence. Felt grateful that my grandparents (including a WWII veteran) were in attendance that day to hear from someone of their generation, who embodied service and honor above self.
  2. Cask of a rye-infused mild at a brewery built in a garage at an active gas station. Delightful.
  3. Colwill with an ACL injury. Dreams of a Chelsea panic buy? Perhaps the most improbable dream…
  4. Bank Holiday rail travel in the UK, especially on East Midlands Rail. Been reading about it in general terms, but thinking about it as a possibility of getting to a match this spring. We'd plan and book the trip well before the engineering works are announced. In general, what's the worst case scenario you've seen with EMR? Bus replacement service, reduced schedules? Sadly, not not first dealings with EMR cancellations.
  5. Couldn’t agree more. Experian saved me a few months ago when I was subject to several debt collection notices that I knew to be fake, but if you receive enough of them, it makes you wonder what’s out there. (Turns out they were looking for someone else with the same last name). Various tiers of free and paid services are available. Paid membership with Credit Lock is worth it for the peace of mind.
  6. Many thanks for this list. A friend is off to Glasgow next week and asked for pub recommendations. This thread continues to deliver!
  7. Off to see Dave Matthews Band tonight, for the first time.
  8. Chuck Mangione at 84, passed away on Tuesday. Big name in music.
  9. Big transfer news from Matt Law? Some fan base will surely overreact.
  10. Good call on the car rental. Outside of the typical Reykjavik scene, we loved our stay at the Black Beach Suites. Breathtaking scenery, not far from Vik. Also close to Skogafoss and Mia’s Country Van (a food truck that was one of our best meals on the trip). Beautiful country, we will be back again to visit.
  11. Enjoying the tournament thus far. Not sure how much more they can play through this rain, though...
  12. Just renewed and was instantly credited with 10.
  13. Current temperatures at kickoff for the Chelsea match: 33C, feels like 40.
  14. As a lifelong Eagles fan and Philadelphia-area resident, I’ll ignore these rumors for now, stay in my own lane, and thank the Giants for their continued ineptitude. This is the way.
  15. Enjoying a side pull of the Tree House bitter at their brewery. Outstanding product, and as close to a cask as you’ll find on this side of the Atlantic.
  16. Just saw three small foxes run across the road. It might be a sign... ...of no announcement.
  17. Long putts and chips going in left and right on this back nine at the Travelers. Will be an exciting finish.
  18. Meanwhile, there’s still two guys on the 18th tee who are just eager to get in the clubhouse…
  19. Wow. Heck of a way to seal the win!
  20. Loving this final round. Makes me feel better about my own game. Too bad the playoff isn’t a full 18 holes anymore.
  21. 2007 US Open was at this course, won by Angel Cabrera with a score 5 over par.
  22. -4 was the winning score the at the last US Open at Oakmont. In 2007, the winner was 5 over par.
  23. Tickets are unsurprisingly cheap for these matches. I've heard of people who bought into the advance ticket packages, and are now regretting it. The second hand ticket market for the first round matches near us is far lower than what FIFA wanted. Might grab some tickets an hour before kickoff, if the market bottoms out.
  24. It's very easy to spend this much, but it's also possible to do Disney World at a much lower cost, and not sacrifice much on the experience. So many different permutations/combinations of deals that impact the pricing: Entry to the theme parks can be upwards of $125 per day, depending on the type of ticket you buy. Including a meal plan in the ticket can add more to the cost, too. Paid ticket add-ons/experiences can add up quickly Disney resort hotel prices can vary wildly, depending on the category of hotel, location, time of year you travel, etc. A quick search shows room rates of 1 week in August, for 2 adults + 2 kids, can vary from $125 per night to $726 per night. My wife and I have just booked 4 nights there, in July. For two people, flights were $500 , rental car $400, and 1 day of theme park access is $250. Though if you stay at a Disney property, you can choose to travel without a rental car, since there is an extensive free bus network between resorts, parks, and more. Guilt by association, with a wife who is a lifelong Disney World regular and knows a good number of the hacks. Happy to answer any questions!
