Since cars were stopped from driving down High Street shops have struggled immensely. It's now pretty much a ghost town despite its close proximity to the Highcross. The significant investment in the Highcross has killed Charles Street, Market Street, Granby Street and St Martins Square and even Gallowtree Gate to an extent from a shopping perspective.

Have you tried pushing a pushchair round shops and supermarkets? Majority of the time it's a thankless task. Most places/people not pushchair friendly at all.
