That would be a great move for Ndidi, terrible move for BEK. -

He could be a late bloomer - he always seems such a small lad to me and i dont know if physicality is the issue. Thing is, with 16/17 year olds looking like they are ready and ahead of him, and rumours of more coming, can we afford to wait anymore? -
I actually don't care what some guy called Jack at Betfair may think. And if we largely played a team of academy grads, blooding them for the future, then i would see 10th as a major result.
-
We all know that the main reason has nothing to do with being environmentally friendly. QQ from me. My son is 13 and doesnt have a phone. I cant find anywhere on the site to request him a physical card (this is not going to be the excuse to get him a phone!). Am i missing something, or is it just going to have to be a call to the ticket office?
-
Ok - i missed that - apologies. But at the end of the day, there is nothing to suggest he's been let off lightly. I'm not some sort of Hamza apologist and would much rather we had other people play. In fact, i have a friend whos brother did some work for Leicester once and met Hamza and said he was outright horrible to him (and this guy is pretty thick skinned, so it must have been nasty). I don't doubt he's a bit of a ****, but i've met many nasty people on my job and so don't let this bother me as much as others.
-
No Ricardo or Fatawu. I will start the Jazzu_Jeff out thread.
-
You don't get to decide how the law is upheld. There was a process that decided that. You could say the same thing about the VAT Hamza pays everytime he buys something. Any other 'on the spot fine' doesnt take disposable income into consideration.
-
He was fined 20k and lost his licence for 40 months. He was held to account. In the same situation i wouldn't expect to lose my job.
-
He was a ****head for doing that, but im not holding it against him for life. Lots of wealthy and not wealthy people have been caught over the limit. Heck, there are lots of fans around me on matchday who drink several pints and still drive on a matchday and i bet most of them know they are close if not just over the limit. Doesnt make it any better that they are not millionaires. Its been dealt with by the law, as it has with anyone else thats been caught. This isn't me sticking up for him, i've always felt Hamza isn't a great role model, but i think we need to move on from these and we have to accept that most young footballers make idiot decisions.

Ah - here comes the academy bashing.

I think the Fatawu raw statement is perfectly valid. First few games he was raw but my god was he electric and you could see the potential, but he was massively over eager. If he had been sent off in his first game for us things might have panned out differently. But you could see that Enzo could manage him and those chances / contributions came. Monga only had a couple of starts pre season. Is all very exciting and crazy to think we have both Monga and Fatawu in our squads.
-
There is no point aiming low with some of these lads. From what we have seen, Monga has the ability to reach the very top, and Aluko, Alves & Evans have at least the ability to be 1st team starters for us. Jakub is already a first team starter. Aim high and help them reach their potential. Don't knock them back when they make mistakes whilst learning on the job.
-
Have you watched him in preseason? He has undoubtedly been our best player and actually doesn't rely on tricks. He's sailed past much older and bigger defenders and has shown strength to hold them off. Good chances have been generated from from his play showing he is contributing to the wider output. Not often are Mongas tricks used to showboat. Its clear to me he's putting significant effort to improve and mature his game, and he doesn't look our of place in the team. FC Koln are a decent side - Monga belonged there and was one of the better players on the pitch. You name check Fatawu, but when you go back to when he first arrived he was very, very raw (and should have been sent off in his first game) and it takes game time to get all the parts of their game working. Arguably, final output is the part of Fatawu's game that still needs to improve, and as with Monga - it will over time.

Im personally completely aligned. I would go as far to say I would happily us play more of the academy and achieve lower mid table next season if it was the best development pathway for those players. But I've had to sit at the ground with people venomously calling Barnes 'utter sh1te', KDH a one footed fraud and Kasey completely useless. Even when we saw Thomas keep Salah at bay yet again someone near me said 'yeah, but he's still league 2 at best'. The venom our academy graduates get really annoys me. Even seeing some rumblings about Jakub not being good enough online (i personally think Jakub will be as good a keeper as Mads). I don't know if its like this at other clubs, but its depressing.
-
Yup. The irony of this forum almost demanding we play the kids is that a lot of the fans turn on the academy grads pretty quickly. And heaven forbid if it turns our they aren't leicester fans.....
-
I see that different and agree. I would like to consider Nelson and Okoli higher priorities than him. I consider freezing out to be like what Brendan did to Cags, where you would sooner play anyone at all costs. If he can’t be moved, Faes should be a rotation option.
-
Ask him what maximum bet they would take at those odds.
-
Okoli is still a big question mark for me. There were times last season he looked very very shaky but it felt he would be cut from the 1st team quickly. Ideally issues there get resolved and him an Nelson are the first 2 choices. Constant transfer rumours with Okoli worry me but i presume he is marketable in Italy and so will always be subject to these i imagine. Faes is fine at this level, he just doesn't want to be at this level. But for all the stick he gets (and ive piled in myself) I never think he's downed tools nor has he had any significant time off with injury. He has poor decision making that means he can't be relied on when we are under the cosh and we need a level head, and he has an arrogance and lack of humility that doesn't sit well with me. Ideally Vesty, Coady and Bouba will go. However, i can't see anyone buying Vestergaard, i think Coady will have interest (aka Rangers) but i doubt anyone will match his salary. I think Bouba will run his contract down and the best we can hope for is a loan that slightly limits the damage. I don't think Bouba or the club will want to see him starting for us next season. Im not really sure where his career goes from here. Therefore, i can see all 3 still being here next season. I'm not massively astute tactically, but for all the plaudits Vesty got under Enzo im not sure we really want him playing the same way anymore. Seems to me Marti's team needs to operate with a bit more pace, and Vestergaard really slows things down.
-
If Faes stays, freezing him out would be stupid. I know he is the no 1 boogie man on here but he is more than capable at championship level. Ideally i would like to see him move on but we have to be realistic that it might not happen. Soumare i agree with.
-
I spent a lot of the 2nd game saying to my boy that Skipp looked alright and Winks seemed to be way off it. Didn't get annoyed about the penalty as would rather see them getting stuck in rather than pulling out and im sure there was a lot of tired legs. I do hope fans give him a bit of a break, because as you say the price tag is not his fault and he does have the opportunity to kick on this season.

My issue is that unless we unearth an Ivan Tony style gem, anyone we get is going to fall into the 'probably ok for the championship' category. Strikers seem to be a problem everywhere, and anyone remotely decent costs good money. Unearthing a gem is a gamble. Even if we opted for someone like Josh Seargent, might be ok for now but proven not good enough. With the system we are going to play, im not sure anyone is going to be better than rotating Daka / Ayew and giving Evans minutes. -
Ndidi won't be here. I can see Mongda and Mavididi rotating for starts but honestly if things carry on it will get to the point where Mavi will be the rotation option. That is assuming that Monga stays on the wing.
